Fresh Royal Navy sex scandal as training base dramatically ‘locked down' over revenge porn claims
Navy chiefs ordered a communication blackout at HMS Raleigh to stop X-rated images of a recruit going viral.
Hundreds of rookies — including some as young as 16 and 17 — were ordered to hand in their phones.
A message sent to their parents said: 'Welfare calls are being made to under-18s' parents to say that their recruits are OK but the base is on communication blackout due to an ongoing police investigation.'
The Navy warned parents that the blackout — known as River City state — could last up to 96 hours.
The Sun understood that two recruits at HMS Raleigh, in Torpoint, Cornwall, had been in a relationship prior to joining the Navy.
A Navy source told The Sun: 'They had joined in separate intakes and when the young woman enlisted, some time after her former partner, she discovered that intimate pictures had been shared on the base without her consent.
"By that point her former partner had already left the Navy. He never completed training.
'Only one person is under investigation. No other recruits are suspected of wrongdoing.'
The Royal Navy said: 'The welfare of our recruits is our number one priority and a restriction on the use of mobile phones was in place for a short time.
"A civilian police investigation is ongoing.'
The incident comes days after the Navy's most senior officer, First Sea Lord Admiral Sir Ben Key, was suspended over an alleged affair, and the captain of warship HMS Tyne, Lt Cdr Martyn Mayger, was stripped of command amid claims of 'unacceptable sexual behaviour'.

Man found guilty of attempted murder seen pulling up outside restaurant
Javon Riley has been found guilty of the attempted murder of a nine-year-old girl in Dalston. CCTV footage shows Riley driving a Nissan Juke towards Evin restaurant on Kingsland High Street, repeatedly checking for rival gang members before the shooting. Family 'beyond lost' at father's death in Lancashire motorbike crash
The family of a motorcyclist who died in a crash in which a pedestrian was also killed have said they were "beyond lost" without him. David Hough, 55, has been named as one of the men who died at the scene in Clayton-le-Woods, Lancashire, shortly after 22:30 BST on 7 August. Mr Hough's BMW motorbike had collided with two pedestrians, police said, fatally injuring 68-year-old Lyndon Wright. Lancashire Police said three men who were near the scene, at the junction of Preston Road and Cloverfield, had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. The family of Mr Hough, from Macclesfield in Cheshire, said in a tribute that they were "truly devastated" at the loss of a "most wonderful" father-of-three."He will be missed by his partner, his loving mother and father, sister, brother-in-law and nephew", they said. "We are beyond lost without him. He was a friend to so many and a man who will be missed beyond comparison." Police said the second pedestrian, a woman in her 60s, is in a serious but stable condition in hospital. Last week the family of Mr Wright described him as a "devoted husband and loving father".Lancashire Police said the three suspects, a 53-year-old man from Whittle-le-Woods, a 57-year-old man from Middlewich and a 46-year-old man from Congleton, have since been released under investigation. Sgt Joe Ghigi, from the force's roads policing unit, said: "Our thoughts remain with the families of David and Lyndon, and with the woman recovering in hospital. "They are being supported by specially trained officers at this distressing time."Enquiries into the collision are ongoing, and we are continuing to ask that anyone with information or footage that can assist our enquiries to get in contact."
