Wynne Evans has made an exciting announcement, embarking on a new venture following a year marred with setbacks, including being dropped from the BBC and the Strictly Come Dancing live tour.
The 53-year-old opera singer, famed for his performances in the GoCompare adverts, has declared he's venturing into the culinary world with a new restaurant in Carmarthen, Wales.
He promised enthusiastic diners that "MasterChef dishes" would feature on the menu. Posting on Instagram, Wynne engaged with fans, announcing: "Hello, Wynne here.
"This is my hometown of Carmarthen. It is ever-changing and one thing that is changing is the Welsh House. It's going to become the Welsh House by Wynne."
In his post, the former Strictly star confirmed: "I promise you it will have MasterChef dishes on the menu, it's going to have a fabulous warm welcome and I want you to come and see me, OK? It's going to be the home of the radio show too. So I'll see you soon. I'd better get cooking."

It has been rumoured that Wynne sealed the deal on the existing Welsh House establishment, with a source disclosing to The Sun: "It's a prime location in the centre of Carmarthen. He is trying to capitalise on his MasterChef win apparently."
This move comes in the wake of a difficult period for Wynne, which saw his affiliation with the BBC end suddenly. Additionally, earlier this year, the celebrity, who clinched victory on Celebrity MasterChef in 2023, found himself embroiled in controversy after being ousted from the Strictly Come Dancing live tour, reports the Mirror.

During a photocall, he made a remark that was considered sexually inappropriate, igniting a four-month probe by the BBC into his conduct.
Wynne, who graced the Strictly dance floor last year with professional partner Katya Jones, aged 36, was previously compelled to issue an apology on the show for an episode where he was caught with his hand on Katya's waist, which she appeared to push away. They both later explained to their followers that it was simply a playful banter between them.
While on tour, Wynne encountered further criticism for using "inappropriate and unacceptable" language after an exchange with presenter Janette Manrara.

In the wake of the controversy, Wynne chose to withdraw from both the tour and his programme on BBC Radio Wales. His statement at the time read: "I've agreed with the BBC that I'll take some time out from my radio show and the Strictly Live tour, as well as my other public commitments, to prioritise my wellbeing. I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused, and plan to take this time for self-reflection."
Last month, Wynne announced his departure from BBC Radio Wales, as the station chose not to renew his contract. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to his supporters, stating: "From the very depths of my heart - thank you. These past few months, your love has been the light in my darkest days. Every message, every word of encouragement, every moment you stood by me has carried me through more than you could ever know."
He continued with a heavy heart: "It breaks my heart to say the BBC has decided not to renew my contract so I won't be returning to my radio show. I'm gutted. That show wasn't just work-it was home. It was us. We laughed, we cried, we sang like nobody was listening. And somehow, through the airwaves, we became a family."
Despite this setback, Wynne is eager to remain on the air and shared his plans for an independent radio venture, telling his audience: "But here's what I believe with everything I've got: what we built cannot end here. So - deep breath - here goes... We're getting the band back together."
He unveiled his new project: "The Wynne Evans Show is coming back, live every day from 9am - 12pm on a new app, on Alexa and Google (we don't have to say 'smart speaker' anymore! ) and at www.wynneevansshow.co.uk. This is our next adventure. And I need you more than ever. We will have great music, my question of the day, the mystery voice, your soundtrack stories and so much more, because we have each other again."
Strictly Come Dancing returns autumn 2025 and you can catch it now on BBC iPlayer

Coronation Street Mick actor Joe Layton 'set for Hollywood' after ITV soap exit

Coronation Street actor Joe Layton has played the role of Mick Michaelis on the cobbles since earlier this year but could soon be switching Weatherfield for Hollywood Coronation Street's Joe Layton, known for his role as the menacing Mick Michaelis, could be on the brink of a major Hollywood breakthrough. Joe burst onto the scene earlier this year as the ruthless thug Mick, alongside his partner Lou (Farrel Hegarty). ‌ Labelled as "nightmare neighbours," the pair quickly became notorious for causing chaos. In a shocking turn of events in May, Mick brutally murdered Weatherfield's beloved Craig Tinker ( Colson Smith) in a harrowing alcohol-fuelled attack. ‌ It was then revealed that he also regularly abused Lou adding to the disdain for his character from viewers who were shocked to see how truly evil he was capable of being. After Craig's tragic end, Mick found himself behind bars. However, this week saw an explosive development as he broke free from custody. ‌ In a desperate search for his child, Mick stabbed Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) before being caught again and sent back to prison. Now, with Mick's time on the cobbles drawing to a close, speculation is rife about actor Joe's next move with his frantic on-screen demeanour capturing the imagination of TV fans. Betway has provided odds on his next step that place Joe at a not too shabby 3/1 to hop over to rival soap EastEnders. But that isn't the only soap where he could show up, as Joe is also sitting at 5/1 to land a role on Channel 4's Hollyoaks. ‌ When it comes to reality TV prospects, he's got odds of 8/1 for I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! and 10/1 for Strictly Come Dancing where fans would get to learn more about him as opposed to his on-screen alter ego Mick. But it's not just small screen opportunities on the horizon for Joe. He could find himself making his way into the cinematic universe too. Bookies are betting that the big screen could come knocking and he might snag a role in a blockbuster Hollywood franchise. Joe currently stands at 16/1 to appear in a Marvel film, and 50/1 to potentially become the next James Bond. ‌ Mike Reading, spokesperson at Betway told the Daily Star: "After playing brutal villain Mick Michaelis on Coronation Street, Joe Layton is now a 3/1 shot to bring his bad-boy energy to EastEnders. "Having made headlines for his character's violent past and dramatic prison escape, Layton looks ready-made for the gritty world of Albert Square – pub bust-ups, family feuds, and a shady market hustle would suit him down to the ground! "Other potential next moves include jetting out to the jungle for I'm a Celeb (8/1), joining Strictly (10/1), or even a Marvel comeback (16/1) after previously starring in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but it's East London where punters think he's most likely to land next." Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.

So proud of my boy. Onto the next chapter xx." In the image, Katie pouted for the camera and wore a full face of make-up. Harvey, who has Prader-Willi syndrome, septo-optic dysplasia, autism, and learning difficulties, looked delighted to be heading home, wearing a green shirt. It was only back in June that Katie revealed she had sent him back to college early after he caused damage to her TV. The mum-of-five revealed her shock at discovering that Harvey had become frustrated and smashed up her huge £3,000 television in the living room of her property. Katie documented the discovery on her Snapchat account before giving Harvey a dressing down for his actions and also confirming that she would be returning him to his college a day early as a result of his behaviour. The former glamour model uploaded a video in which she filmed Harvey's face and questioned him on his actions. She revealed she was woken up by him smashing the TV at around six in the morning. She asked him: "What has mummy just heard?" Harvey calmly replied: "Smashing the TV." Katie Price reveals son Harvey now weighs 30st as she gives update on his fat jabs and says 'I can't wait to see what he looks like' When she went on to ask him why he did it, Harvey appeared to answer that it had angered him as it was early in the morning. Katie later told her fans that he told her off-camera that he did not like what was on the screen but she appeared to rebuff this suggestions as she could be sure that there was nothing being shown. In the clip of her speaking to Harvey, she added: "You was going to college tomorrow to get some new meds [medication], but now when are you going? "You are going now." Harvey replied to this news by saying: "Oh god!" Katie insisted she had to spend the day getting a new TV and as such needed to send Harvey back to college before branding the whole ordeal as "sad". Harvey went on to apologise as he insisted he "would not do it again". Katie replied: "Well you've got to go to collage now and get some meds." Her decision for Harvey to go back to collage comes after she revealed that her 22-year-old son was due to start weight loss injections in order to control his ballooning weight. Harvey weight around 30st as a result of his many complex needs, including Prader-Willi syndrome, but Katie hopes the use of weight-loss drug Mounjaro will keep it under control. Speaking on her podcast with sister and co-host Sophie Price, Katie said: "Hopefully Harvey starts his Mounjaro this week, but we'll talk about that next week and I'll go through all of what's happening about that." The TV personality's eldest child has Prader-Willi syndrome, which sparks a constant desire to eat food and a permanent feeling of hunger which leads to obesity. Harvey battles a series of debilitating conditions including autism, septo-optic dysplasia, ADHD and oppositional defiant disorder. In a video posted in April, Katie revealed: 'I'm so heartbroken and gutted that his weight is just going up. 'I just googled it in stones, 188kg is just a few kg of being 30 stone. 'It's so life-threatening now, I'm still waiting for the doctors to get back to me starting on the mounjaro and his journey to a healthy life.' She continued: 'It's so sad his quality of life at the moment where he's so big, he just can't really do much." Katie is also mum to Junior and Princess Andre as well as Jett and Bunny Hayler.
