Ex-prison guard 'wants to rekindle relationship' that saw her jailed, mum claims
A prison guard who 'f****d' up her life because of an affair with an inmate hopes their relationship will continue, according to the criminal's mother. Morgan Farr Varney would have sex with prisoner Jordan Stones while she was supposed to be guarding him at a Yorkshire jail.
The 24-year-old guard was working at HMP Lindholme near Doncaster when she had the affair, which lasted 10 months. It is now alleged that she wishes to continue her relationship with Stones, 30, who is serving over five years for dealing cocaine.
The dealer also seems keen on the pair being reunited, after posting photos on his Facebook page. The images show pictures of her on the walls in his cell.
'They are still together,' Farr Varney's mother Donna March, 47, told the Mail. 'They've been together for two and a half years. All of his belongings are at her house for when he gets out of jail.'
Farr Varney became briefly known to viewers of This Morning last year when she spoke of her problems with huge bills after she bought braces from an online dental firm that later folded. Ms March said she and Farr Varney have become close and she would visit her and take her daughters out for day trips. She added that her son's lover was like 'another daughter'.
Farr Varney, who became a guard in 2022, was arrested in January 2023 after suspicions were sparked when she was spotted with him on one of the wings at Lindholme. The pair, who exchanged love letters, were seen in CCTV entering a cupboard. The relationship was poorly hidden, with Farr Varney posting messages on her the Facebook pages of her lover's siblings.
In a police interview, Farr Varney said he had 'f****d her life up' after she had also 'proper fallen in love'. Her sordid relationship earned her 10 months in jail this week after she admitted misconduct in a public office.
Stones, meanwhile, is behind bars after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply crack cocaine. Another charge was for possession, adding to the lags criminal record that includes him being jailed aged 20 for selling heroin.
Following a number of cases that have involved prison officers having relationship with inmates in recent years - this includes ex-Wandsworth prison officer Linda De Sousa Abreu who was filmed having sex with an inmate - a senior cop said Farr Varney's sentencing was a warning to others. Detective Constable Scott Jarvis, from South Yorkshire Police's Prison Anti-Corruption Unit said reports of 'improper relationships' between staff and inmates are taken 'incredibly seriously'.
He said: 'These types of relationships are thankfully rare, but when they do happen, they threaten to undermine the reputation of the prison service and other hard-working prison officers who abide by the rules and regulations attached to the job. I hope this sentencing sends out a clear message to any prison officers thinking of committing similar offences that if you engage in this type of criminality, you will be investigated by police and you will be brought to justice.'

Sturgeon: MSPs probing me 'took direction' from Salmond
Writing in the chapter 'Alex Salmond', Ms Sturgeon said that the work of the Scottish Parliament committee set up to investigate the Scottish Government's handling of the original complaints against her predecessor created the 'most intense' feeling of being on trial. READ MORE: Nicola Sturgeon: Rapist Isla Bryson is 'biological male' Nicola Sturgeon memoir on sale three days before embargo Ms Sturgeon said: 'If it sometimes felt to me like a 'witch-hunt', it is probably because for some of them [MSPs on the committee] that is exactly what it was. 'I was told, and I believe it to be true, that some of the opposition MSPs were taking direction from Alex himself - though possibly through an intermediary - on the points to pursue and the questions to ask.' Ms Sturgeon described giving evidence to the committee on March 3 2021 as not just a 'gruelling experience' and 'brutal episode' of her life but a 'cathartic one'. She wrote: ' the significant number of people who tuned in to watch the chance to see for themselves how partisan some of the committee members were being.' Giving evidence, Ms Sturgeon told the committee she did not become aware of any allegations against Mr Salmond until 2018 and described this as the 'moment in my life that I will never forget'. The committee was set up after a judicial review in 2019 concluded that the Scottish government's investigation into Mr Salmond's alleged misconduct was unlawful, unfair and tainted by apparent bias. Mr Salmond, who died of a heart attack last October, was later awarded more than £500,000 in legal expenses. He was subsequently cleared of 13 sexual offence charges in 2020, including attempted rape. Later in her book, Ms Sturgeon suggests that Alex Salmond leaked details about the investigation into sexual misconduct claims made against him- something fervently denied by his supporters. The former first minister also claimed her predecessor was 'determined to destroy her' and he "died without reckoning with himself", adding that he was a "man who was not prepared to look honestly at himself in the mirror". Ms Sturgeon denied releasing details about the probe, or having any knowledge of who did, however, she added it would have been "classic Alex" to have been behind the leak. Alba party leader Kenny MacAskill has since called her a "hypocrite" while the party's former general secretary, Chris McEleny, described the ex-SNP leader's claim as a "fabrication". MacAskill recently called for a public inquiry into the handling of sexual misconduct complaints against Mr Salmond, who he took over from as Alba party leader.

Nicola Sturgeon still friends with Derek Mackay after scandal
The minister sent a total of 270 messages over Instagram and Facebook between August 2019 and February 2020. The boy was over the age of consent and Mr Mackay broke no laws in the messages he sent, but Ms Sturgeon described them at the time as "unacceptable" and says in her new book they were "inappropriate". Read More: However, in the memoir as quoted in the Scottish Sun, the former First Minister says he remains a friend. Ms Sturgeon writes: "I was back at Bute House when the Sun story went online, late that evening. I felt sick as I read it. 'The messages were published in full and were not open to benign interpretation. "They would be seen by any objective reader as Derek trying to engineer reasons to meet with the boy and to strike up a relationship with him. 'Given the age difference and the power imbalance, it was impossible to describe the exchanges as anything other than inappropriate. I had received and accepted Derek's resignation within the hour. "He had made a serious mistake and, rightly, paid the price. He eventually got his life back on track and, though it would be a few years before I spoke to him again, I still count him as a friend.'
