Steph Curry joined elite NBA company by scoring his 25,000th career point on Saturday night. However, his path into the elite scoring club is markedly different than any of the other 25 players to accomplish the feat.
Curry attempted the fewest career free throws — by far — of any player to eclipse 25,000 points, further highlighting the Warriors superstar's incredible open-play scoring ability.

Curry surpassed the 25,000-point threshold with 4,355 career free-throw attempts. The only other player to score at least 25,000 career points that is remotely close to Curry's charity-stripe efficiency is Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Alex English, who is 23rd on the NBA's all-time scoring list (25,613) and finished his career with 5,141 free-throw attempts.
Curry passed the 25,000-point mark with a 3-pointer during the third quarter of the Warriors' 115-110 win over the Detroit Pistons on Saturday night at Chase Center.

Next up on Curry's ascent of the all-time scoring list is former Warriors executive and Hall of Famer Jerry West who sits 175 points ahead in the No. 25 spot.
Where Curry will rank on the final scoring list remains to be seen, but it's clear his efficiency to reach these exclusive scoring plateaus will place him in rarified air when all is said and done.

Four-time NBA MVP LeBron James was not among the players photographed in attendance on Saturday NBA Fans Had Plenty of Thoughts After Noticing LeBron James' Lack of Attendance In a photo shared to X, players such as Maxi Kleber, Marcus Smart, Gabe Vincent, Deandre Ayton and Rui Hachimura were seen smiling alongside Doncic. While it was a big day for Doncic and the Lakers, many fans flooded to the comment section to call out James. "Except LeBron," pointed out one fan. "Ofc LeBron isn't there, he to busy training at the clippers facility," joked another. "While lebron playing golf in fog," said another. "no bron," asked a fourth. While Austin Reaves also wasn't pictured along with a handful of other players, James' absence spoke volumes on how this offseason has gone for him and the Lakers. It's unclear what course he was playing, but James shared multiple videos of himself on a golf course drenched in fog. James has also yet to comment on Doncic's extension to the media or even acknowledge it on social media. LeBron James Trade Rumors In June, James' agent Rich Paul told ESPN's Shams Charania that the Lakers seemed to have a different mindset than the 40-year-old star. "LeBron wants to compete for a championship," Paul told ESPN. "He knows the Lakers are building for the future. He understands that, but he values a realistic chance of winning it all. We are very appreciative of the partnership that we've had for eight years with Jeanie [Buss] and Rob [Pelinka] and consider the Lakers as a critical part of his career." Following this comment, James was spotted at the Cleveland Cavaliers' facility on July 4. James did address the photo upon its virality, expressing that he lives in Cleveland part-time. However, this wasn't the only time he was spotted working out at a facility associated with another team. This past week, he shared photos on Instagram of himself working out in front of the Los Angeles Clippers logo. While it was later confirmed that Klutch Sports now owns the facility, which used to belong to the Clippers, it's hard to imagine that James wasn't hoping to elicit some sort of reaction with the photos. What's Next for LeBron James? It's unclear if James actually wants to be traded or is just toying with the Lakers, but for the first time in his career, he doesn't really have any leverage. He opted into his $52.6 million player option in June, which makes his asking price via a trade or buyout extremely unreasonable. In addition to the fact that he chose to pick up the option, the Lakers don't have to trade him if they don't want to. Not to mention, ESPN's Bobby Marks reported one day after he picked up his option that there isn't a market for the aging star. So, whether he likes it or not, it appears James will continue to be a Laker. San Antonio Spurs, De'Aaron Fox agrees to four-year, $228M extension, AP source says
SAN ANTONIO (AP) — San Antonio Spurs guard De'Aaron Fox has agreed to a four-year, $228 million maximum contract extension, a person with knowledge of the situation said Monday. Fox is under contract this season for the final year of his five year, $163 million deal. The extension starts in 2026-27, said the person, who spoke with The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Spurs have yet to announce the agreement. ESPN first reported the deal. The move was expected after the Spurs made a big splash at the trade deadline last season by getting Fox from the Sacramento Kings. Fox has career averages of 21.5 points and 6.1 assists in eight NBA seasons. He averaged 19.8 points and 6.7 assists in 17 games with the Spurs last season. Enteirng 2025-26 season, has Houston become the NBA's deepest team?
'The Rockets now stand as arguably the deepest team in basketball,' The Athletic's Kelly Iko writes as part of his offseason grade (A) for Houston. While there are still a handful of moves remaining, the NBA picture for the 2025-26 season is now largely in our NBA staff graded each team's summer moves ⤵️ As part of a widely praised 2025 offseason, the Rockets gained more star power with the acquisition of Kevin Durant. Between the future Hall of Famer and 23-year-old center Alperen Sengun, that gives Houston a duo of 2025 All-Stars as foundational pieces for its 2025-26 roster. Amen Thompson, a rising star entering his third NBA season, could soon be in All-Star discussions, as well. But while stars are certainly in place, there's also an argument to be made that Houston might have the league's deepest roster. With training camps opening around October 1, it's that combination that has the Rockets — who finished last season at 52-30 and No. 2 in the Western Conference — among the early championship favorites. In grading Houston's 2025 offseason an A, The Athletic's Kelly Iko argues that the Rockets could have the NBA's deepest squad, as things currently stand. His case: The acquisition of Kevin Durant by a 52-win team without cratering depth was enough to cap a strong Rockets offseason, but the veteran additions of Dorian Finney-Smith and Clint Capela on team-friendly contracts put Houston in rare summer air. The organization was also able to retain key rotational members Fred VanVleet, Steven Adams, and Jabari Smith Jr. without handcuffing themselves financially — and the Rockets now stand as arguably the deepest team in basketball. This team has shifted from a patient rebuild to an aggressive championship push in fewer than three seasons... and now has the personnel to play any style that head coach Ime Udoka wants, any time. 'Houston's time is now,' Iko concludes. The starting lineup for the Rockets is likely to consist of VanVleet, Durant, Smith, Amen Thompson, and Alperen Sengun, with reserve rotation players including Adams, Tari Eason, Finney-Smith, and Sheppard. But beyond those nine, Houston has accomplished veterans such as Capela, Aaron Holiday, Josh Okogie, Jae'Sean Tate, and Jeff Green occupying spots No. 10 through No. 14 on its roster — and that's before considering potential two-way options. With the exception of Sheppard, a second-year guard who has considerable upside as the No. 3 overall pick from the NBA's 2024 draft, each of those nine rotation players is already proven as a capable starter or rotation player. Furthermore, should Sheppard not pan out or injuries occur elsewhere in the rotation, the Rockets have as many as five players further down the depth chart that have shown an ability to play solid NBA minutes. So, between the strength of its projected rotation and the widespread availability of insurance policies, Houston is in a strong place as training camp nears.
