Jenrick urges Farage to sack right-hand man Zia Yusuf over antisemitic post row
The former Reform chairman, who now heads the party's Doge unit, has apologised for the incident, which comes after an anonymous X user posted a video that appeared to show Mr Yusuf liking a tweet which said: 'Reminder that Jenrick is a traitorous Zogbot with a Jewish wife and family. I'm sure it's unrelated that he imported infinite brown savages to rape our women and children.'
Zogbot is a derogatory term for a Zionist.
The anonymous account that shared the screen recording of Mr Yusuf's interaction with the post described it as 'absolutely horrifying antisemitism.'
Since last summer, likes on X have been privatised, so that only the liker and the poster can see them, rather than a wider audience.
In response, Mr Jenrick said he 'called bull****' and pointed out that Mr Yusuf had been calling him a 'traitor' for the previous 48 hours over the Afghan data breach in what had become an ugly spat.
The shadow justice minister claimed 'the mask has slipped' and urged Reform to sever ties with Mr Yusuf.
After critics of the former Reform UK chairman picked up the criticism to demand he is sacked by Mr Farage, he responded with an apology.
In his statement he said: 'One of the team who post to my X account accidentally pressed like on an awful antisemitic tweet earlier today. I apologise for this.'
He added: 'The post also refers to 'brown savages', and is equally racist against me. Clearly it was not intentional.
'The amount of antisemitism and racism on this platform is spiralling out of control, and I hope that changes soon.'
But responding, Mr Jenrick claimed he did not believe Mr Yusuf's explanation.
In a post directed at Mr Yusuf he said: 'I call bull****. You've spent the last 48 hours calling me a 'traitor' for not drawing attention to a leaked spreadsheet with our special forces and MI6 officers' names on.
'But we're meant to believe this tweet attacking me as a traitor for having a Jewish wife and family was liked 'accidentally' by 'one of the team.' You must think we're all thick.
'No. The mask has slipped. Likes are private. You thought nobody would ever know. Unfortunately for you, the racist account who posted the tweet and could see the likes exposed you. Reform should give you the boot.'
Mr Yusuf has been a controversial figure in Reform after he helped fund their general election campaign before being brought in as chairman to modernise the party.
He was blamed by supporters of Rupert Lowe for the Great Yarmouth MP being ousted from Reform but had the full backing of Mr Farage.
Mr Yusuf then temporarily resigned from the party after having a spat with Reform's recently elected Runcorn MP Sarah Pochin after she asked a question in PMQs calling for the burqa to be banned.
He returned 24 hours later but was replaced as chairman by longterm Farage ally Dr David Bull and instead agreed to head their Doge unit, modelled on the one Elon Musk created for Donald Trump, which aims to find savings and cut costs in the councils Reform won control of last May.

Jonathan Powell was slinking through the shadows of diplomatic life when he was talent-spotted by and given unprecedented power as his chief of staff. While the majority of Mr Blair's inner circle fell away over the ensuing 12 years – the victims of scandal, fatigue or in-fighting – Mr Powell stayed firmly by the Prime Minister's side until they both left Downing Street in 2007. His presidential-style job title carried with it the new, and arguably unconstitutional, right to issue orders to civil servants, and brought him into frequent contact with Peter Mandelson, now the UK Ambassador to Washington. The two men are the real forces in British diplomacy, with Foreign Secretary David Lammy reduced to an effectively ceremonial role. Both Mr Powell and Lord Mandelson have formidable private networks they are able to mobilise. In Mr Powell's case, as we report today, he founded an organisation, Inter Mediate, which is paid by Mr Lammy's department to carry out off-the-books diplomacy with rogue states. Oxford-educated Mr Powell, 68, is the son of Air Vice-Marshal John Frederick Powell. He was described as an ultra-Left 'Maoist' at his private school. In stark contrast, his brother Charles, now 84, was foreign policy adviser to Margaret Thatcher when she was Prime Minister – and is the only one of four siblings to pronounce the family name to rhyme with 'pole' rather than 'towel'. Jonathan Powell's early career in the Foreign Office took him to Lisbon, Stockholm and the spies' nest of Vienna towards the end of the Cold War. He was posted to the British Embassy in Washington in 1991 and caught Mr Blair's eye after introducing him to Bill Clinton. A notorious gun runner and drug smuggler has been found dead in prison, MailOnline can reveal. Barry Kelly, 32, was just six years into an almost two-decade sentence for Class A drugs and firearms offences when he died at HMP Kirklevington Grange in North Yorkshire on May 25. Kelly was a Merseyside mobster from a sprawling organised crime group with tentacles across the UK. When he was just 26, the Liverpudlian was jailed for 18 years after a landmark operation by police in 2019. The late gangster pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and three firearms offences. He was also implicated in a plot to throw contraband into a prison. He reported to the infamous Burrows Brothers, who ran the East Side Boys gangs in Speke, and worked with notorious bombmaker Christopher Wallace. When police started to dismantle Wallace's underworld armoury in a Wirral garage, they were forced to call in the army to handle a bomb of a similar grade to the one used in the Manchester Arena attack of 2017 that killed 22 people and injured 1,017. The East Side Boys was a classic Liverpool street gang that ran a network of seedy stash houses and street dealing operations in the warren of streets controlled by their crew. Kelly played a key role in helping the Burrows brothers move guns and drugs around their hometown. Handguns, shotguns and a hunting rifle were buried in surrounding fields. The East Side Boys later used the hardware to fight wars with rival drug firms in the towns. Masked yobs on scrambler bikes roared the gang's patch, terrifying the majority of ordinary decent people who lived in the area. At one point, Speke residents were too scared to walk past one particular stash house, for fear of being beaten up in the street. The police later revealed how the Burrows used some of the more ruthless tactics associated with drug gangs, such as 'cuckooing.' This involved bullying and coercing vulnerable people into working for the gang, against their will. Flare messages were sent out to their customers on graft phones, which promoted the latest batches of drugs and their prices. The court heard of incriminating text messages between William Troake and Kelly, when the two criminals discussed how sales of cannabis were declining in the Speke area. Ian Unsworth, prosecuting in 2019, said: 'In relation to firearms counts, the prosecution say that Barry Kelly was a trusted member of the Burrows OCG and was close to both Callum Burrows and Jake Burrows and was aware of and participated in their acquisition, storage and transfer of firearms. 'Barry Kelly's DNA was recovered from [a] loaded St Etienne revolver recovered on the 14th June 2017 in the blue bag that had been concealed in Alder Woods which was discovered by a member of the public walking their dog.' Kelly was also embroiled in a plot to throw a bundle of items into HMP Hindley, where gang member Jack Ross had been remanded. Kelly was observed throwing items over a perimeter wall into the prison estate. However, it was the use of firearms that would contribute to the gang's ultimate downfall. In particular, when a Tikka hunting rifle was used to pepper a rival gang's HQ with bullets, the police started to close in. When specially trained officers burst into Lee Price's home, which was a hub for the gang, he darted out of the back door and managed to hop over a couple of garden fences.
