MINNEAPOLIS – The sight of Marshall amps stacked three high and more than a dozen across the back of a stadium stage can mean only one thing: AC/DC is back.
Taking the stage for their first U.S. non-festival performance since 2016 with a guttural roar in the form of 'If You Want Blood (You've Got It),' the quintet accelerated through two hours of sweat-inducing, fist-thrusting rawk in support of 2020's 'Power Up' album.
There wasn't anything flashy about their stage at Thursday's US Bank Stadium concert, the first of 13 shows the band will play this spring, because there doesn't need to be.
A trio of video screens (and panels on the side for those with an obstructed view), a wall of lights and occasional lasers were the only necessities to complement the focal points of the show – the duck-walking Angus Young and wild-eyed king of gesticulation Brian Johnson.

Though Johnson's patented shriek was somehow overpowered by the music for the first couple of songs, the sound leveled out in time for 'Demon Fire,' accompanied by video of a cloaked figure conjuring smoke from (not on) the water.
Seeing Johnson, 77, back onstage was particularly poignant considering he was forced to leave AC/DC's 2016 Rock or Bust World Tour due to severe hearing loss (it's since been rectified).
And while the vision of Young, a vigorous 70 in his trademark schoolboy shorts, tie, crew socks and black shoes, is always amusing, there was nothing but serious respect for his finger-blistering playing.
The whizzing notes of 'Thunderstruck' – a locomotive rumbling into overdrive – and the chunky chords of 'Highway to Hell,' which included Young sporting the devil horns that hundreds in the crowd wore in rock 'n' roll solidarity, proved his dexterity is undiminished.
Young is the only original member of AC/DC, having co-founded the band with brother Malcolm, who died in 2017 from the effects of dementia.
Stevie Young replaced his uncle Malcolm on rhythm guitar in 2014, but there were a couple of different faces in the backline since AC/DC's last tour when erstwhile drummer Phil Rudd departed to care for longtime partner Toni Wilson (who was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer in 2023), and bassist Cliff Williams announced his retirement.
The booming AC/DC rhythm section is now anchored by Matt Laug and Chris Chaney, respectively, who muscled through the bottom-heavy 'Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap' and the band's 2020 No. 1 rock hit, 'Shot in the Dark.'
While fans bellowed every time Young took a heel-to-stage bounce down the catwalk, Johnson's moves were equally electrifying. He looked like Joe Cocker on epinephrine during 'Whole Lotta Rosie' – a cartoon image of the titular character outlined in neon writhed on the video screens – and swaggered across the stage like a boisterous barkeep throughout 'Have a Drink On Me,' one of the bluesiest songs in the band's canon.

Johnson's reedy yowl echoed through the venue as he sang 'Hells Bells' underneath the signature gold AC/DC bell hanging ominously above the stage, but he also knew when to cede the stage to Young, whose molten playing on 'Riff Raff' and 'Let There Be Rock' threatened to melt his strings.
AC/DC's setlist – a replica of the shows they played in Europe last year – peppered album tracks such as 'Sin City' and 'Shot Down in Flames' with song staples of barroom jukeboxes worldwide. Is there a music fan on the planet who hasn't been tempted to whip out their best air guitar to the iconic riffs of 'You Shook Me All Night Long' or 'Back in Black'?
It's been 50 years since AC/DC released their debut album, 'High Voltage,' and while it was uncertain in recent years if the band would ever stampede across stadiums again, there's no doubt now.
So to a band that still continues to rock, we salute you.

Dakota Johnson and mom Melanie Griffith share the love during rare red carpet outing

Mother-daughter duo Melanie Griffith and Dakota Johnson had a rare flashy night out for a Hollywood event. Griffith, 68, supported her firstborn daughter at the premiere of Johnson's newest film, "Splitsville," at The Grove in Los Angeles on Aug. 19. The two took a few moments to pose on the red – well, beige – carpet together, sharing an embrace, clasping hands and admiring each other's outfits (Johnson was in Gucci). Johnson, 35, is the daughter of "Working Girl" actress Griffith and "Miami Vice" star Don Johnson. Johnson, who has a producer credit on "Splitsville," also took photos with costars Adria Arjona, Nicholas Braun, Michael Angelo Covino (also the director and co-writer), and actor/writer Kyle Marvin. The comedy, which follows an open marriage that goes awry, debuted in May at the Cannes Film Festival and opens in theaters nationwide on Sept. 5. Though it's rare for the mother and daughter to show up together at high-profile events, Griffith has shown herself to be an ardent supporter of her daughter's career. At an early press screening of "The Materialists" that USA TODAY attended in May, Johnson told the crowd in the intimate West Hollywood screening room that, though she was under the weather and unable to stick around for the entire event, her mother and her older brother, Jesse Johnson, were staying to watch the Celine Song film. A segment of Johnson's career where Griffith's support wavered, however, was the "Fifty Shades" franchise that made Johnson a box office star. "I don't think I can watch R-rated Fifty Shades of Grey," Griffith said in a live interview on the red carpet for the 2015 Academy Awards, adding: "I think it will be strange." The clip went viral as Johnson looked offended while standing next to her mother. "No, I don't think so; I think it's fine," Johnson said. "I think that one day you can see it." In a 2014 sit-down with Mario Lopez for Extra TV, Griffith said, "I'm never going to see the movie myself. I don't think Don will ever see the movie. It will just be too awkward." But by 2016, Griffith revealed she'd taken a peek at "Fifty Shades," telling E! News that she'd seen "a little bit" of the film. "I just can't quite bring myself to watch the love scenes," she said.

Who's In The ‘Peacemaker' Season 2 Cast With John Cena?

John Cena is again suiting up as Peacemaker for season two of his irreverent, standalone HBO Max series after making a cameo in James Gunn's Superman film. The eight-episode second season of Peacemaker, which premieres on Thursday at 9 p.m. EST, is written by Gunn, who also serves as the showrunner. The new season follows Cena's titular character in his continued mission to achieve peace, no matter what it takes. This time, Christopher Smith/Peacemaker is joined by some returning friends from season one, plus new faces to the rebooted DC Universe (DCU). Read on to learn more about the season two cast of Peacemaker and which characters they're playing. Cena appeared in several comedies, including Trainwreck, Daddy's Home, Sisters and Blockers. He also starred alongside Hailee Steinfeld in the 2018 Transformers franchise film Bumblebee. Vigilante also thinks he's Peacemaker's best friend. Harry Potter fans might recognize Stroma for playing the arrogant Hogwarts student named Cormac McLaggen in the film franchise. Stroma also played H.G. Wells in the ABC series Time After Time and Prince Friedrich in season one of Bridgerton. Steve Agee As John Economos Economos is skilled in technology and tactics. He previously showed up in The Suicide Squad and Shazam! Fury of the Gods. In season two of Peacemaker, he serves as the director of A.R.G.U.S. and is on a mission to hunt down Peacemaker, who killed his son, Rick Flag Jr. (Joel Kinnaman), in The Suicide Squad.
