Negri Sembilan records 168 teacher disciplinary cases since 2021
State Education and Human Capital Committee chairman Datuk Ismail Lasim said Seremban recorded the highest number of cases, with 89, followed by Jempol/Jelebu (36), Tampin (13), Port Dickson and Kuala Pilah, with 11 cases each, and Rembau (eight).
"Among the offences were absenteeism, document falsification, financial misconduct, public statements, disciplinary issues, disobedience, criminal acts, political involvement, injuring pupils and sexual harassment.
"Follow-up action taken against the teachers involved is in accordance with disciplinary procedures under the Public Officers (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993 (P.U.(A)395/1993)," he said during the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly sitting here yesterday.
He was responding to a question from Chew Seh Yong (PH–Lobak), who had requested the list of disciplinary issues involving teachers throughout Negri Sembilan from 2021 to the present.
Ismail, who is also the assemblyman for Senaling, said disciplinary action is taken based on the type of offence. For serious misconduct, dismissal can be enforced against the teacher involved.
In a separate development, the Negri Sembilan State Assembly today picked Lenggeng assemblyman Datuk Mohd Asna Amin as Deputy Speaker of the assembly after his name was the only name submitted for nomination, which was proposed by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
Mohd Asna, 46, is Negri Sembilan Umno Economic Bureau chairman and Seremban Umno vice chief.

Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in a Facebook post said the country's commitment to defending the rights of the Palestinian people remains firm, not only through strong statements on the international stage, but also by working closely with regional and global leaders.

MCMC start probe into claims of Muhyiddin defending foreigners' rights concerning RON95 subsidies
CYBERJAYA: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will take immediate action by investigating the denial statement of Pagoh MP Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin regarding the claim of defending the rights of foreigners over the RON95 targeted subsidy issue. In a statement on Wednesday (Aug 6), MCMC announced that it would investigate the matter based on existing legal provisions. "MCMC has taken note of the Prime Minister's Office's media statement requesting an investigation into an allegation denied by the Pagoh Member of Parliament. "MCMC reminds the public not to misuse social media platforms to spread any unverified content," MCMC said. Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim instructed MCMC to investigate the denial statement, in line with the government's principles of upholding transparency and accountability. On Tuesday (Aug 5), Anwar at the Dewan Rakyat sitting reportedly said he had received a report that there is an MP from the opposition bloc who defended the rights of foreigners to benefit from subsidy rationalisation. In this regard, Muhyiddin, who is also a former prime minister, through his social media post denied that he had ever issued any statement intended to defend the rights of foreigners in the targeted subsidy of RON95.
