Sue Perkins 'touched inappropriately' by Orville the Duck on Light Lunch
Sue Perkins' co-host has claimed she was touched by puppet Orville the Duck as she spoke out against the "Naughty Nineties". The comedian and former Great British Bake Off host, 55, claimed the famous green bird got handsy with her.
Her best friend and co-star Mel Giedroyc, 57, spoke of the alleged incident on Channel 4 daytime show Light Lunch. They were hosting the programme together in 1997 when they saw that children's entertainer Keith Harris was invited on.
He turned up with the giant green duckling, who wore a nappy. Mel recalled: 'We're back in the Naughty Nineties - woof! Weren't they naughty - they were a very naughty decade.
'The most memorable of all the lunches, we had three puppeteers with their puppets for lunch. We had Keith Harris with Orville, who got a bit naughty with Sue! Well, Orville did," she claimed on the Parenting Hell podcast.
She added: 'Yes. Harris via Orville got a bit 'Naughty Nineties.'' Fellow comedian and podcast host Rob Beckett asked: 'He was nipping at the body?'
Mel replied: 'Yes. There is a ruddy hand (in there)!' Josh Widdecombe added: 'They'd get away with it by claiming it was a grey area," to which Mel agreed as she said: "Exactly!"
Keith, who died in 2015 aged 67, and the two other guests Roger de Courcey with Nookie Bear and Matthew Corbett with Sooty, were all allegedly captivated by Sue.
Mel claimed: 'They were trying to get all over Perks's grill, she was the honey trap, I was just the fly buzzing round the edge rather desperately. They bloomin' loved Perks, all of them.'
Sue and Mel met while studying at Cambridge University, where they launched their long-standing career together. In the 1990s, the comedy duo wrote for BBC Radio 4 show Weekending and created sketches for French & Saunders.
They went on to host daytime shows Light Lunch and Late Lunch for Channel 4 between 1997 and 1998. Their series ended in 1999 and Mel insisted they have fond memories of Light Lunch.
Mel even revealed there was plenty going on off screen as she admitted to snogging a runner on the programme. She said it was a then-unknown Dermot O'Leary as he was working one of his very first TV jobs.
'There was a lot going down - it should have been called Heavy Lunch," she teased. Mel and Sue returned to screens years later as the hosts of Great British Bake Off.
They held the positions between 2010 and 2016 on the BBC. However, the pair quit in protest of the show's move to Channel 4 and would go on to host their short-lived chat show on ITV called Mel and Sue.
The pair confessed they were "shocked and saddened" to discover the news of Bake Off's move and explained they "made no secret" of their desire for the show to remain where it was.

Gogglebox star to make first TV appearance on Channel 4's First Dates since 'devastating' divorce
A former Gogglebox star is set to feature on Channel 4 's First Dates - marking his first TV appearance since his 'devastating' divorce from his co-star. A favourite of viewers at home, Daniel Lustig-Webb is best known for roaring at the TV screen with his best friend and ex-husband Stephen Lustig-Webb. But after the couple split in April last year, freshly single Daniel has appeared in the opening credits of the newest series of First Dates. Daniel, 50, and Stephen, 54, were married for six years. Speaking on the Suddenly Single podcast, Daniel called the split 'devastating' and 'traumatic'. To make matters worse, the pair are still living under one roof, which makes dating difficult, Daniel says. He told the Mirror that the living situation makes his love life 'complicated', adding: 'If I'm going on a date, I'm a bit sheepish about it. 'I'll say I'm going to meet a friend but Stephen can just read me. He'll say, "Don't wear that." 'I can't bring anyone to the house so it's a little bit different - but we make it work.' But reality star Daniel will soon be making a very public return to dating and relationships. First Dates, which has been running for more than ten years, sees ordinary people head on blind dates at a restaurant run by French maitre d'hotel and host Fred Siriex. Daniel added of his upcoming appearance: 'I did do something to do with dating that's coming out next year, but I can't talk about that.' Hairdresser Daniel is following in the footsteps of his ex Stephen, who appeared on the most recent series of Celebs Go Dating. Also a hairdresser by trade, Stephen took part in the show with Love Island's Chris Taylor, Corrie star Helen Flanagan, MAFS star Ella Morgan, singer Jamelia, influencer Lauryn Goodman and Made In Chelsea's Tristan Phipps. In January this year, Daniel revealed he and Stephen were still living together - then nine months after they announced their marriage split. 'We've found a way to work together, live together and be dog dads. It's always been about friendship. 'As soon as we started dating, I said, 'this guy is so different to me' but we got on so well, even though we came from completely different backgrounds.' Talking about their split, he added: 'It was devastating. For me, it was traumatic and although I knew things weren't great, I didn't see it coming. 'It was quite a slow process because we were completely entwined for so long, with our businesses, the dogs, we were so close in everything we did. 'There was nothing underhand happening, no-one had slept with anyone else. Stephen was the complete opposite to me, and we'd say opposites attracted, but fundamentally, that was our problem in the end.' Confirming he was back on the market, Daniel said: 'Once I got over the shock, in the summer I was going on date after date with all these different types of people, I was on apps all the time, and now I realise I was trying to fill a void. 'Friends took me aside to ask if I was okay. Now I'm happy being single. I love going on dates but I don't need a long-term relationship, I need to repair myself a little and learn who I am again. 'The first guy I dated (after Stephen), I went on about six dates with him in London. He was very nice, he knew my situation and it was teenage dating, nothing sexual at all, we'd go somewhere really nice and have a snog in the end. 'He did end it, I think he realised I wasn't in the right frame of mind.' Stephen an Daniel are still on good terms, with the pair both running their hair salon together. At the time of their split, Daniel said: 'We've made the decision with a very heavy heart to confirm our marriage has come to an end.
