Tom Sandoval eliminated from 'America's Got Talent' after panned band performance
Oof. The voting public wasn't feeling his cover of "Blinding Lights." Reality TV veteran Tom Sandoval's time on America's Got Talent is over. The Vanderpump Rules alum's cover band, Tom Sandoval and the Most Extras, were eliminated from the competition on Wednesday's first results show of season 20. Host Terry Crews dramatically brought out two acts at a time before declaring which of them had won the most votes from viewers to move forward to the semifinals. After Crews had revealed the top five, he announced the top three. But Sandoval and company didn't get that far, as they lost out to comedian Shuler King, who's known for his jokes about being a funeral director. After being eliminated, Sandoval and his band members, like the others, left the stage quickly. But it wasn't a surprise that they were leaving. Their performance of the Weeknd's "Blinding Lights" on the previous night's first live show of the landmark season had left the judges wanting more. Judge Simon Cowell, who was very much behind Sandoval when his band auditioned with a-ha's "Take On Me," had hit his "X," which the judges use when they want an act to stop. His reasoning was that the act "didn't sound great." Fellow judges Mel B, Howie Mandel, and Sofia Vergara had been split. While the former Modern Family actress wanted to root for Sandoval, she agreed with Cowell that "the sound was not amazing." Still, Vergara had found it "super entertaining." And Mel B and Mandel wholeheartedly supported the musicians, with her complimenting the former cast member of The Traitors on his dance moves and the way he left her smiling. In an interview ahead of what would become his final performance on America's Got Talent, Sandoval told EW on Monday that his band had practiced "nonstop for over a week" for their big moment. "It was hard for us to find a song," he said, "and we had a couple choices that we couldn't clear or that just weren't right for a AGT. But we finally landed on what I feel like is the perfect song, and we're doing it in our way."He also said going on the reality competition had helped people to see him differently than they had previously — that is, post-Scandoval. While Sandoval's time on the show is over, four acts from the ones who performed this week will take the stage again: Steve Ray Ladson, who won Vergara's Golden Buzzer on Tuesday; trapeze artists (and exes) Sirca Marea; New Orleans singer Jourdan Blue, despite having suffered from food poisoning; and glow-in-the-dark dance team LightWire. Eleven more acts will perform in the second of four live quarterfinals episodes Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly Solve the daily Crossword

WWE Legend Rushed to Hospital Following Bat Attack
Veteran WWE referee Charles Robinson says he spent the early hours of Wednesday in the emergency room after a bat bit him. Robinson shared the incident on Instagram on August 13, stating that it occurred around 2 a.m. and required treatment, according to his post. 'Great way to start the morning. 2:00am and got bit by a bat,' Robinson wrote. 'That's right a bat! 4 hours later in the ER and six shots.' He also tagged the post with '#animalattacks' and '#hospital.' The longtime WWE official didn't provide additional details about the encounter but indicated the visit involved multiple injections, most likely for an anti-rabies treatment regimen. Support rolled in from across the wrestling community, with colleagues and fans offering well-wishes in his comments. Some also made light of the bat bite, though Robinson kept his update to the facts of the hospital trip. A few replies even joked about 'superpowers.' The bat incident caps a rough stretch for Robinson in 2025 that has included multiple on-screen bumps. At June's Night of Champions premium live event, he was shoulder-tackled by the heel Undisputed WWE Champion, John Cena. The following month at Saturday Night's Main Event, Robinson was accidentally speared by Goldberg during Goldberg's retirement match against GUNTHER, leading to a storyline rib injury for the referee. Robinson's standing in the industry underscores why the update drew such a reaction. He began refereeing in the 1990s and joined World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1997, where he became known as 'Little Naitch' in a storyline aligned with Ric Flair and the Four Horsemen. When WWE purchased WCW in 2001, Robinson moved to WWE and has served as a senior official ever since, working countless high-profile matches, including multiple WrestleMania main events. As of his Instagram post, Robinson did not share a recovery timeline.
