
Kuwait clinches multiple titles at 4th Arab Tennis Pioneers Championship
CAIRO, May 24: The 4th Arab Tennis Pioneers Championship concluded in grand style at the Soho Square Tennis Complex in Sharm el-Sheikh, under the organisation of the Arab Tennis Federation, led by Sheikh Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, in cooperation with the Egyptian Tennis Federation.
In a press statement, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Jaber expressed his deep satisfaction with the championship's remarkable success. He praised the outstanding organisation and the significant efforts made by the Egyptian Federation, under the leadership of Captain Ismail El-Shafei, to deliver a well-executed and memorable event.
Sheikh Ahmed congratulated all the winners and applauded the high level of dedication and skill displayed by the participants, noting that such performances elevated the prestige and competitiveness of the tournament. He also highlighted the strong cooperation and enthusiasm shown by the players throughout the championship, which featured more than 100 participants from 10 Arab nations.
Kuwaiti players left a strong mark on the tournament across several categories:
Mixed Doubles Victory: Kuwaiti duo Ahmed Dashti and Asrar Abdulmajeed clinched first place, defeating Egypt's Moataz Mabrouk and Lilian Fawzi in the final.
Over-35 Doubles Champions: Kuwaiti player Hussein Al-Bahbahani teamed up with Algeria's Hamra Al-Ain Abdelhaq to claim the title after overcoming Egyptian pair Adel Hegazy and Mostafa Bahnasi.
Over-45 Doubles Runners-up: Ahmed Dashti, this time alongside Moataz Mabrouk, finished second in the over-45 men's doubles.
Over-65 Singles: Kuwaiti veteran Adel Safar earned second place in the over-65 men's singles category.
Over-35 Women's Singles: Asrar Abdulmajeed secured another podium finish with a second-place result in the over-35 women's singles.
The event successfully combined competition with camaraderie, affirming its importance in fostering regional tennis development and sportsmanship among Arab nations.

Kuwait U-16 basketball team begins indoor camp ahead of Gulf Championship
KUWAIT CITY, June 9: Kuwait's under-16 basketball team is set to begin an indoor training camp tomorrow as part of its preparations for the upcoming Gulf Championship, which serves as a qualifier for the Asian Cup Finals scheduled to take place in Bahrain from July 7 to 12. The camp will feature 14 promising players, with the coaching staff, led by national team coach Talal Al-Qallaf, expected to select 12 of them to participate in the external camp in Cairo from June 21 to July 5. Ghazi Al-Otaibi, Treasurer of the Kuwait Basketball Association and Head of the National Team Delegation, explained that the team's preparation program has been in place for some time, beginning with a training camp in Istanbul last January. Al-Otaibi added that during the Cairo camp, the Blues will play six friendly matches, including one against the Egyptian youth team.
