WORRIED locals called for an Orange Walk to be switched — to avoid potential flashpoints with partying Celtic fans.
Fears were raised after it emerged 2,500 Loyalists will parade through Glasgow city centre at the same time as 60,000 Hoops punters are heading to their team's title bash.

Next Saturday's parade, marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day, had been arranged before it was confirmed that the Bhoys would be presented with the Premiership trophy at Parkhead that day.
But the route, organised by the County Grand Lodge of Glasgow, is to pass through the Trongate and Merchant City areas, where hordes of Celtic supporters are expected to gather after the game against St Mirren for booze-fuelled celebrations.
And there are mounting concerns over a possible 'inflammatory' stand-off between marchers and fans.
A spokesman for Merchant City Community Council said: 'Residents and businesses around Glasgow Cross are already concerned about serious disruption following the Celtic v St Mirren match.

"Police are likely to have their hands full just dealing with that.
'The presence of tens of thousands of Celtic and Orange Lodge supporters in the city on the same day is an unwelcome and possibly inflammatory mix.'
He added: 'We call on the city council and the County Grand Lodge to get together to arrange for the parade to take place on a different date.'
Rolling road closures will be put in place by cops after the Orange procession starts next to Glasgow Cathedral at 9.45am.

It will head down High Street towards Trongate before travelling through Merchant City — a popular spot for Hoops fans.
Almost 20 flute bands will then parade past George Square before heading south and finishing in the city's Kinning Park district.
Thousands of jubilant Celtic fans gather at Parkhead for title party as they let off pyro and await fan return
Hoops diehards, meanwhile, will be in the city earlier than usual to make their way to Parkhead for the 12.30pm kick-off against Saints.
Dave Scott, director of anti-bigotry charity Nil by Mouth, said: 'Given issues with drunkenness and anti-social behaviour in the Merchant City in the last few years linked to religious, cultural or sporting processions, anyone can see why residents are worried.

'Too often the impact of these events on those who live, work and raise families in the city centre are overlooked. It's further complicated by the volume of loyalist parades which take place.
'And the fact the football event isn't organised formally and shaped by what the fans do on the day.'
Disaster jibe sicko banned by Bhoys
By Harry Williamson and Gordon Tait
A VILE Celtic fan who mocked the Ibrox disaster at last Sunday's Old Firm game has been banned from Parkhead.
Hoops chiefs are understood to have suspended Darren Malloch, 35 from the stadium indefinitely.
A club spokesman said: 'We have investigated the matter. Clearly we condemn such conduct and have taken the appropriate action with regards to this individual.'
Malloch, from Glasgow, was filmed during the 1-1 draw mocking 66 Gers fans who died in a stairway crush after a match against Celtic in 1971.
He held up his mobile phone with the number 66 clearly visible and twice used his fingers to indicate the number six.
We told how Malloch was fired as a project manager with Advance Construction Scotland over the sick gestures.
Mr Scott added: 'The city council, police, march organisers and football club need to be in discussions to ensure this day passes with as little negative impact on residents as possible. I'm baffled why this doesn't seem to have happened already.'
Last year's Trongate title party led to 19 Celtic fans being arrested and four cops getting injured.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: 'We work closely with a range of partners to address concerns and ensure appropriate policing plans are in place to maintain public safety and minimise any disruption to the wider community.'
We told how the force blasted the council and Parkhead chiefs for not setting up an official fanzone for the event.

Callum McGregor senses Celtic Champions League history as he reveals key message heading into £40m showdown

The Hoops are just 180 minutes away from qualifying for the Champions League group stages for a fourth year on the spin Celtic stand on the brink of Champions League history. ‌ Never before have the club qualified for the group stages in four consecutive years. ‌ Now, with only Kairat Almaty standing in their way of a place among Europe's elite, another £40million windfall is on the line. ‌ There's absolutely no doubt in Callum McGregor's mind that the Hoops belong on the biggest stage. The skipper has racked up more than a century of European appearances under four different managers. From the highs of going toe-to-toe with Man City and Atletico Madrid, to the lows of losing to CFJ Cluj and Ferencvaros, it's been a rollercoaster. But after reaching the knockouts last season, only to suffer a sucker punch with the final kick of the ball in Munich, McGregor is convinced this group can go further - starting tonight. He said: 'I think so, I think obviously we've proved it. Certainly towards the latter half of last season's campaign. 'But to be considered a good team you have to keep doing it, you can't just do it once, you need to keep doing it, keep proving that you're good at the level. ‌ 'Hopefully, the lads will have felt that over the last 12 months and will arrive into thisgame with the belief that we can get through the tie and be in there proper again. 'We need to do a lot right but I believe when we defend properly and we're aggressive in the game, then we're a good side and we can give everybody a game.' Just about everyone of a green and white persuasion would've bitten your hand off for a crack at the Kazakhs. ‌ Almaty are novices at this level, with just one group-stage appearance in their history - the 2021/22 Conference League. McGregor knows the Hoops go in as heavy favourites. But there's no way he - or Brendan Rodgers - will allow them to take it lightly. He said: 'That's the message. I think pretty much everyone will have us as their favourites. ‌ 'So we have to then go and play like that and show the desire and the hunger to get to the league phase, and if we do that and we do everything right, then we have a good chance. 'But you don't want to leave it to chance, you want to perform well, perform strongly and like I said, ultimately over the two legs, progress and get there.' Alongside Kieran Tierney and James Forrest, McGregor is one of three survivors from the side that survived a chaotic playoff second leg in Kazakhstan in 2017. ‌ After blowing away Astana 5-0 at Parkhead, the Hoops were cruising - until the Astana raced into a 4-1 lead. Late goals from Olivier Ntcham and Leigh Griffiths settled the nerves. McGregor is mentally prepared for another crazy 180 minutes. ‌ He said: 'I think everyone's reference point is probably the last game that we went to Kazakhstan. 'Obviously we started really strong, you get 5-0 up and then you've got a few scary moments in the second half in the second game. 'So that's probably everyone's thought, that you might blow them away tomorrow and then it's going to be difficult. ‌ 'But like I said, it's a different group of players, it's a different team. 'We just have to make sure that we try and minimise the chaos in the game as much as we can, try and edge the game in our favour and then over the two legs, we do enough to get through. ‌ 'We don't want to have those scary moments; we want to be in control of the game.' Celtic emerged from last season's league-phase campaign unbeaten at home, with three wins and a draw lifting them to 21st in the rankings. That restored some continental pride after heavy defeats in recent years against Sparta Prague, Bodo/Glimt and Bayer Leverkusen. ‌ McGregor, once a ballboy as Gordon Strachan's side stunned Manchester United and AC Milan, is determined to make Celtic Park a fortress again. He said: 'Yeah and that's it, I think we've spoken about this for a while that we have to get Celtic Park back to being a really difficult place for teams to come in Europe. 'We've managed to do that, so tomorrow night we have to bring the same intensity, the same tempo to the game and make it a really uncomfortable night for them as well.' ‌ Domestically, Celtic have lifted trophies for fun, but Europe has been less kind. McGregor believes this team are learning how to adapt their game from running the show in the Premiership to facing Europe's top sides. He added: 'I think in that sense it's a step up, you're playing against really top teams that are going deep into the competition. ‌ 'So of course that looks like it's the marker. But I think the marker for us being a good team has been able to adapt to all the different competitions. 'Be dominant in the league, play a certain way, when you come to Europe can you adapt slightly? Show a wee bit more tactical understanding in the games. 'Cup games, you have to be aggressive, go and beat people again. ‌ 'So it's actually showing the different sides to your team which makes you a good team. 'It's not necessarily can you perform at the highest level, and then you forget about the domestic stuff because that then gives you a problem as well. 'The only reason you get to European football is by being dominant domestically as well. 'I think the biggest thing for me is that we show in all the competitions the right attitude and the right quality and the right understanding for the games.'

Brendan Rodgers addresses Paulo Bernardo's Celtic situation and player

Paulo Bernardo's lack of Celtic game-time this season is down to the club having a 'competitive' squad, according to manager Brendan Rodgers. Bernardo was signed on a permanent deal from Benfica last term and the Portuguese made 44 appearances across all competitions. However, he has only featured for 15 minutes so far in the 2025/26 campaign, coming off the bench as substitute during the 4-1 Premier Sports Cup victory over Falkirk on Friday night. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Rodgers has six senior midfielders at his disposal - captain Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate, new signing Benjamin Nygren, Arne Engels, Luke McCowan and Bernardo. And the manager admitted the Bernardo, 23, is a victim of how many strong option he has to choose from in that area of the pitch. Celtic midfielder Paulo Bernardo has barely featured this season. | SNS Group 'It's a very competitive squad,' said Rodgers when asked about Bernardo's situation. 'He's one of a number of good players that we have in the area. And sometimes how it works in football, the ones that aren't playing, you get asked and then it switches about. 'But I think what we see in this early stage, especially when there's been one game a week, the team sort of stays pretty similar. I obviously changed it against Falkirk, knowing that we've got this game, knowing that we've got a game on Saturday and then a game on a Tuesday. 'So they're quite tight. So I needed to make sure some of those players that might play in those games are up to speed. But I think once you get them into Europe, you need every player. And Paolo's a very talented player. And he's one of a number of talented players in midfield.' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad The Inamura Celtic situation While Bernardo will hope to be involved in Wednesday night's Champions League play-off first leg against Kairat Almaty at Celtic Park, one player who definitely won't be involved is Japanese defender Hayato Inamura. The 23-year-old, who can play left-back or centre-half, was signed from Albirex Niigata in his homeland last month. While Rodgers involved Inamura in some of the pre-season matches, the Northern Irishman does not believe he is ready for first-team action at Champions League level. "Yeah, very easy,' was Rodgers' response when asked to explain Inamura's situation. 'He's not quite at the level, as of yet, that I would expect. Hayato Inamura is not in Celtic's Champions League squad. | SNS Group 'The plan for Ina was to come in and train and see where he was at, with the possibility of going out and loan, because he's only had a year's football. He came in as a centre-half/left-back, but his defensive qualities aren't at the level that would see me put him in against Lamal Yamine if I had to. So it's as simple as that. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'So that's why he's not involved. He's played in some really good games, against Cork and Queen's Park, but the reality is that's the level that we play - you get 80 per cent of the ball and you've got the ball, but we also make a player that can defend. And we're hoping that over the couple of years, with experience and with maybe a loan, that that can take place. 'But at this very, very moment, that's why he's not in the squad. It's as simple as that.'

The Danish forward netted a memorable last-gasp winner to beat Celtic in the 2002 Scottish Cup Final and was integral in the Gers' treble triumph the following season. In total, Lovenkrands won two league titles, two Scottish Cups and three League Cups with the club. He moved on at the end of the 2005/06 season, a campaign that saw him inspire Rangers to the Champions League knockout stages. Lovenkrands went on to play for Schalke, Newcastle and Birmingham before retiring in 2014. He embarked on a coaching career that saw him return to Rangers in 2017. Initially working as a part-time academy coach, Lovenkrands became reserve team boss in 2018. He landed his first senior managerial gig back in his homeland Denmark in 2021. Lovenkrands was appointed Fremad Amager boss in May 2021 but departed the role just over a year later after a 10th placed finish in the Danish second tier. His last coaching role was as assistant manager of AaB, a role he left last year. According to the Belfast Telegraph, Lovenkrands wants to be the next manager of Larne. The report claims he's expressed an interest in the role. It would be a stunning return to the dugout for Lovenkrands with a club that finished second in the NIFL Premiership last season. Larne also reached the Conference League league phase last season but missed out this time around having lost out to Portuguese club Santa Clara.
