Mickey Callisto vows to 'bring the full Freddie experience' to BGT semi-final
Mickey Callisto is set to dazzle once again as he returns to the Britain's Got Talent stage tonight for the third live semi-final - and he's promising nothing short of a 'passion-packed, flamboyant' performance that'll light up Saturday night TV.
The intergalactic-inspired singer, whose Freddie Mercury tribute wowed judges and viewers earlier in the series, is aiming to book his place in the grand final and edge closer to the life-changing £250,000 prize and a coveted spot at the Royal Variety Performance.
'Like always I am very excited just to be able to perform again for the nation!' Mickey tells us exclusively. 'The stage is where I am happiest and to entertain people is the only thing I was born to do.'
With eight acts competing tonight - including Electric Umbrella, Bao, Jasmine Rice and gymnast Albert Amores - the stakes couldn't be higher. Only two acts will make it through to the final, either via the public vote or a Golden Buzzer from the judges.
Mickey, who says his performance will be full of 'passion, flare, flamboyance but most of all fun,' is fully aware of the expectations, especially performing in front of Bruno Tonioli - who once counted Queen frontman Freddie Mercury as a friend.
'To perform for Bruno who actually knew Freddie is a great thing in itself. There is always pressure but I would like to think I was doing the Queen fans proud too and of course my fans,' he says. He adds, 'I hope Freddie would have loved it. He taught me to sing with passion and make people feel involved in the performance. I think he would have liked Simon for his honesty and also sense of humour.'
His show-stopping audition not only earned him a standing ovation but also helped bring Queen back into the UK charts - something Mickey describes as 'like scoring a goal for your favourite football team.'
'Not many things make me shed a tear but I certainly did seeing that,' he said. 'To think I have contributed to their already phenomenal legacy… It was a very proud moment.'
Off-stage, Mickey is a self-described space fanatic and football lover who writes and produces all of his own music. His alter ego was born out of a fascination with astronomy. 'Callisto is one of the 4 Galilean moons of Jupiter,' he explains. 'My star sign is Sagittarius which rules Jupiter in astrology - hence Mickey Callisto.'
Fans can expect another glam look this evening - and yes, he's ready to compete with Amanda Holden in the style stakes. 'Of course it will be a glam outfit,' he laughs. 'You'll definitely have the passion of Freddie but you will be getting the full Mickey experience.'
The Britain's Got Talent semi-finals continue tonight on ITV1, with guest appearances from musical Just For One Day and last year's winner Sydnie Christmas — who Mickey says is 'a great personality as well as being an amazing singer.'
Could Mickey be next in line for the BGT crown? He's dreaming big: 'One is perform at Wembley Stadium and also the Stadium of Light… Whether I sing Queen or my own songs, I receive the same response.'

The Fortune Hotel Season 2: release schedule, eliminations and where to watch
ITV competition show The Fortune Hotel is in full season 2 swing, with 11 pairs of contestants battling it out to find a briefcase stuffed with a £250,000 prize. Hot off the heels of BBC show The Traitors, in eight episodes players must work out which pair has the winning briefcase, and the goal is to end up with it at the end of the show. Daily challenges decide what order players can either keep or swap their briefcases, with the quarter of a mill secretly changing hands throughout the series. Eight briefcases are empty, while the ninth has an 'early checkout card' – which eliminates players landed with it at the end of each episode. Presenter Stephen Mangan told Metro how the show can be pretty savage, as winning requires contestants to lie and cheat. 'It's really difficult to brutally pull the plug on another pair and send them home, but you have to do it,' he explained. The series began with 11 pairs of contestants who know each other in some capacity, much like Race Across The World's format. Hoping for a chance to win were best friends Maz and Max; fellow besties Chelsey and Briony; father and son Atholl and John; brothers Jake and Mike; couple Allan and Jacob; couple Nella and Tope, partners Fred and Min; mum and daughter Martina and Briony; friends Gurk and Guv; and dad and daughter James and Yasmine. Players come from all walks of life, with jobs ranging from tech to cleaning, and retirees are also having a stab. Last week's episode ended on a cliffhanger – spoiler ahead – as with the introduction of a second early check-out card, both Fred and Min and Allan and Jacob seemed to be at risk. However host Stephen revealed only one of the pairs would be going home – as voted for by their other contestants, ouch . Tonight revealed Maz and Max sent home Allan and Jacob through tears, leaving them 'gutted'. So far other eliminated contestants include cleaning business owners Briony and Chelsey; retired police officer Atholl and son John from the Scottish borders; Wigan-born brothers Mike and Jake; and salesman Guv and poker player Gurks. Episodes are airing weekly on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Coronation Street fans 'rumble Costello's link to Becky's death' after clue
Coronation Street aired more hints about the mystery surrounding DI Costello on the ITV soap on Wednesday, as Kit Green pressed him for answers about something he's hiding There seemed to be massive hints during Wednesday's Coronation Street about what DI Costello was hiding, and whether it was linked to late police officer Becky Swain. Lisa Swain's late wife died years earlier, before she was on the show. Recently there's been a few questions raised about Becky, and whether she was a corrupt officer. Not only that, but Lisa feared something was going on that may have led to her death, with Becky hit by a car driven by the Radcliffe brothers. As will as hints from Logan Radcliffe about Becky and what went on, including a mystery person called Tia Wardley being mentioned which led to Logan seemingly being attacked and silenced, we've seen DI Costello acting strangely over some police files. Both Lisa and colleague Kit Green have separately tried to access files linked to a case Becky was working on before her death. Costello has been keen to stop them both snooping, even putting Kit on desk duty while claiming it's down to a complaint made against him. Kit appeared to see right through him though, before making it abundantly clear he may have something on him. Costello made it seem as though he was doing Kit a favour, telling him: "Trust me, it's what is best for us. Stick to the story and we will get through this." When Lisa quizzed Kit about the move, confused given it was blamed on Kit's injuries, she didn't get any answers. Instead she got attitude, but later on Kit made his thoughts clear. He told Lisa that Costello was up to something and couldn't be trusted. Kit couldn't make sense of Costello covering for him, and his claims about why he'd put him on desk duty, while Lisa commented that it could have been worse for him given what he'd been accused of. Conversation then turned back to Becky's files, as Lisa asked him why he was wanting to read them. He refused to tell her before accusing her of being obsessed with the files. Further into the episode, Costello asked to speak to Kit who claimed he was "spooked" after he looked into him. Costello told him he didn't want him to lose his way in the force, saying he was a "good cop" and that he punished him this way "for him". As Kit asked why he didn't just get rid of him, Costello warned that if he carried on the way he was then he'd be out. But it was then very clear that Kit knew something about Costello, as he made light of the situation. Costello snapped, telling him to remember who he was talking to and saying: "I'm a man of integrity. I have nothing to hide." But Kit, smirking, simply replied: "That's not strictly true that, is it?" As he got up to leave Costello sternly warned him: "Tread carefully DC Green." So it's clear Kit has something on him, but what is it and what is Costello hiding? Fans think the constant references to Becky and those files will mean Costello knows what she was looking into and perhaps is linked to her death, maybe even orchestrating it. Taking to social media, one fan said: "The closer we get to the park scene, the more convinced I am that it's the fallout from discovering Costello's hand in Becky's death." Another fan asked: "Why do I think that Kit gonna find out a lot more about Costello and Becky???" A third fan posted: "I think Corrie will go the route of Costello being involved in Becky's death and Kit won't let it go. He'll uncover something and tell Lisa which will lead to the park stuff and it'll all unravel. Becky's name will be cleared and Lisa will be able to move forward." Another fan said: "New theory is that Costello is the bent one, Becky was on to him so he got her investigated for corruption and got her killed."
