Marc Cucurella feels Chelsea are back where they belong
That campaign, which has already brought Champions League qualification for the first time since 2023 and Europa Conference League success, finally comes to an end in New York this weekend.
The Blues want to end on a high by winning world governing body FIFA's controversial but lucrative tournament and Cucurella feels the team belong on such a stage.
'We've had a good season,' said the Spain international ahead of this weekend's clash against European champions Paris St Germain at MetLife Stadium.
'When I arrived at this club it was difficult and in the beginning we had a lot of changes. The results were difficult.
'But we always try to give 100 per cent. We know Chelsea is a big club. We deserve to be in the final on Sunday and we have the profile for big things.
'We have worked a lot to make this happen and hopefully we can finish the season with a big trophy.'
Cucurella feels he too has turned things around after a difficult start at the club following his £60million move from Brighton in 2022.

The Spain international is now considered one of the most consistent left-backs in the Premier League but there were times when he received criticism from his own fans.
He said: 'It was tough at the beginning because I think I'm not a player that has the quality to take the ball and change the game in one action.
'I'm more of a player that needs to have the team playing well to show my qualities. At the beginning the team maybe didn't have identity or a clear way to play.
'I enjoyed more at other clubs because when you win you are happy all week and the feeling is very different.
'When you come here, you feel like you need to win every game. It's your job and you don't celebrate. In small clubs you don't feel this pressure. It's an important thing to learn in the big clubs.'

Cucurella feels the turning point came last summer as he first won Euro 2024 with Spain and then started working with new Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca.
He said: 'After the Euros I won a lot of confidence because we played amazing football and I was very important in this team.
'Then I came here in the summer and everything was better. The manager, with his ideas, helped me a lot. He brought my best football out of me.'
Chelsea now face the tough task of trying to overcome a formidable PSG side.
Cucurella said: 'They play good football but a final is a final. I think we are ready for this game.'

Jadon Sancho is poised to leave Manchester United on a permanent transfer after positive negotiations with Juventus, who are happy to buy the winger after his Chelsea loan spell Manchester United are close to wrapping up negotiations with Juventus over the sale of Jadon Sancho. United are desperate to sell Sancho, who has been kicked out of first-team training by Ruben Amorim, and are about to get their wish. Amorim has banned Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Tyrrell Malacia from attending the training ground at the same time as the first team. The 'bomb squad' approach has proven contentious at United – but it is about to bear fruit with Sancho, with a transfer to Juventus a matter of days away. The winger had appeared set to join Chelsea at the end of the season after spending the campaign on loan with the Blues. However, Chelsea turned down the opportunity to sign him permanently, deciding they would rather stump up a £5million fee than pay £25m for his services. Sancho then agreed personal terms with Fenerbahce over a transfer, only for that move to collapse. Thankfully for United, Juve have stepped into the breach and Italian outlet Sportmediaset report that there is now a 'full agreement' with Sancho over a four-year contract worth €6m (£5.2m) per year. The Italian giants are close to agreeing terms with United too. Juve initially offered £15m (€17m), but are now ready to meet United's asking price of €25m (£21.6m) – a figure which includes easily achievable add-ons and severance pay for Sancho, who is halving his salary to move to Turin. Sancho is currently paid around £300,000 per week by United, where he is under contract until June 2026. Fenerbahce had been willing to pay him €10m (£8.5m) per year, but that move to Jose Mourinho 's side fell apart. Juve are reportedly confident they can complete the deal before Thursday after Sancho's agent spent time in Turin this week to agree terms. The transfer will bring to an end the 25-year-old's miserable spell at United, who paid £73m to sign him from Borussia Dortmund in 2021. The winger has just 12 goals and six assists in 83 games for United, but still has a good reputation elsewhere. He registered five goals and 10 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea last season, helping them win the Conference League, and was impressive at Dortmund before that. It could be a crucial week for United, who are also close to finalising a move for Rashford to Barcelona. The Catalan giants are taking Rashford on loan for the 2025/26 season and will pay his entire £325,000-a-week wages and retain an option to sign him permanently.

With a return to the Champions League, the Magpies need to strengthen their squad to compete at the highest level. Boss Eddie Howe has made it known that he is looking to work fast this summer, seemingly not wanting to repeat the sort of saga that saw Marc Guehi remain at Crystal Palace despite strong interest last summer. The Saudi-backed club were without any major recruits over the past two seasons due to PSR rules, but started the summer with a big move for Anthony Elanga – with the Nottingham Forest winger joining in a deal worth £55m – and are set to make more notable additions as they continue a pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike. Here's everything you need to know about Newcastle United 's summer transfer plans: There are four key areas of improvement this summer. The first is up front, with the club seemingly hunting for another striker to join the reliable Alexander Isak. Ekitike fits the bill, with the Magpies having already seen a £70m bid rejected. Newcastle needed reinforcements on the right flank too as they prepare to do battle in the Champions League, and with squad depth likely playing a key part in their recruitment plan this summer, the club sealed a deal for Elanga earlier this month. Randal Kolo Muani, PSG Reports have emerged that the Magpies could be interested in Randal Kolo Muani after their failed pursuit of Hugo Ekitike. They are said to want a striker whether or not Isak leaves, and the PSG man – who spent last season on loan at Juventus – could be a good cut-price option.
