"Legend of Zelda" Live-Action Movie Finds Its Zelda and Link

Yara Sameh
Nintendo and Sony's live-action 'Legend of Zelda' movie has found its Zelda and Link.
In a social media post on Wednesday, Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto unveiled that Bo Bragason will be playing Zelda with Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link, alongside what seems to be the first-look photos of the actors in costume.
'I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of 'The Legend of Zelda,' Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san,' reads the post on Nintendo's official account. 'I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen.'
English actor Bragason is known for her roles in the BBC One series 'Three Girls' and 'The Jetty,' as well as Disney+'s 'Renegade Nell.'
Last year, she starred in Euros Lyn's vampire comedy film 'The Radleys.' Ainsworth, who is also English, was the voice of Pinocchio in Robert Zemeckis' live-action 'Pinocchio' and played Miles in the Netflix series 'The Haunting of Bly Manor.'
He also stars in the Canadian comedy series 'Son of a Critch' and appeared in an episode of Netflix's 'The Sandman.'
'The Legend of Zelda' is scheduled to debut in theaters on May 7, 2027.
Last month, the film was moved from its original March 2027 date 'for production reasons,' Miyamoto said at the time.
The live-action adaptation of the beloved video game is being directed by 'The Maze Runner' and 'Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes' helmer Wes Ball. Miyamoto and Avi Arad are producing.
After Nintendo's 'Super Mario Bros. Movie' massive hit for Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment, all eyes will be on 'The Legend of Zelda' to see if it can be the same sort of box office smash for Sony.

"Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse" Release Delayed by 3 Weeks

Yara Sameh Spider-Man fans will have to wait just a little bit longer for 'Beyond the Spider-Verse.' The third installment in Sony's popular web-slinging animated trilogy has shifted its release date back by three weeks, from June 4, 2027 to June 25, 2027. Studio insiders tell Variety the move was made to capitalize on school-aged moviegoers — 100% of schools in the U.S. will be on summer break by the new date, as opposed to only 65% on June 4. 'Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse' is the conclusion to a trilogy that began with 2018's 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse' and continued with 2023's 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.' Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson serve as directors for 'Beyond the Spider-Verse.' The screenplay is scripted by 'Spider-Verse' creators Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, alongside David Callaham. Lord and Miller will also produce with Amy Pascal, Avi Arad and Jinko Gotoh. Aditya Sood and Christina Steinberg are executive producing while Jessica Berri will serve as co-producer. At CinemaCon in March, Lord told the audience that the threequel would begin with protagonist Miles Morales as a fugitive on the run from every other spider in the multiverse, and hinted that 'Gwen and his other friends may or may not be enough to help him save the family that's been the leading part of the entire system.' 'Into the Spider-Verse' took home the Oscar for best animated feature at the 91st Academy Awards, and 'Across the Spider-Verse' landed a nod in the same category. The first entry grossed $384 million globally in addition, while the sequel raked in a mighty $690 million. Sony also added the animated comedy 'Buds' to the schedule for March 12, 2027 from Sony Pictures Animation. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language

Wrexham chief wants playoff push after promotion to Championship - World

The Hollywood fairytale that is Wrexham AFC is only just beginning, the club's chief executive said Friday as the Welsh side continued its unlikely quest to crack the English Premier League. Since Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney purchased the Welsh club in 2020, Wrexham have become the first team to earn three successive promotions from England's national league to the second-tier Championship. Wrexham will on August 9 play relegated former Premier League club Southampton in their Championship opener, a prospect club chief executive Michael Williamson described as a "pinch yourself" moment. Williamson, speaking in Wellington during the club's preseason tour to Australia and New Zealand, said success was more than simply making up the numbers. "The expectation is, and Rob McElhenney will say that he doesn't know what this word is, but obviously we need to consolidate our position in the Championship," Williamson told AFP. "If we are able to find ourselves halfway through the season, in December, in that 3-4-5-6-7 position, people should be worried about us. "Because I believe if we make the playoffs with the type of mentality that we have, anything can happen in 90 minutes. "I really would give ourselves a strong shot of giving it a run." The Welsh minnows languished for years in the lower tiers of English football before being purchased by Reynolds and McElhenney, and shooting to fame through the "Welcome to Wrexham" documentary. They return to the Championship -- one step below the Premier League -- for the first time in more than 40 years. The fighting words were echoed by former Wrexham player-turned-club ambassador, Ben Tozer, who was also in New Zealand for the tour. "It's a massive challenge, don't get me wrong," Tozer said. "But the momentum of our club, four years of pure success and heading in the right direction, winning a lot more games than losing. We could surprise some people." - The right people - Fellow club ambassador, former Wrexham and Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster, said the club had set itself apart by recruiting the right people. "If you look at it in the cold light of day, the stark reality is that money is going to start playing a massive role now," Foster told AFP. "When you've got players and clubs that have just been relegated from the Premier League, they're on big wages and they're big players and they're worth big money because they are of a calibre of player. "But I'd like to think Wrexham can do it in a slightly different way where we identify the people, and the team is more important than the individuals." Foster lauded a "no dickheads" policy at the club, which meant players and staff were working towards a common goal. Chief executive Williamson said that policy started in the dressing room and was led by manager Phil Parkinson. Over the past year, Wrexham's staff numbers had grown by more than 60, to about 105. "I would say most of the 60 or so employees that have been hired, I've personally interviewed at some point," Williamson said. "For me it was important to bring in, especially on the senior leadership side, people who understood what Wrexham is and what we're actually doing here. We're not just another football club. "There are people who had incredible CVs, experience. You look at them and say, wow. You think that they would be incredible for for Wrexham. "And then you go through the interview process and realise that they're not really understanding what Wrexham is as a town, as a community, as a club. "That's something that took a lot of effort. We're trying to create a culture within the club." Wrexham will return to Wales on Sunday, after playing Wellington Phoenix in New Zealand on Saturday evening. Parkinson confirmed the club was close to signing New Zealand international left back Liberato Cacace -- a former Wellington Phoenix junior player -- from Italian club Empoli. Cacace's father, Antonio, owns an Italian restaurant in Wellington where Parkinson planned to drop in for a glass of wine before leaving the city on Sunday. "Assassin's Creed" Live-Action Series in Works

Yara Sameh The long-gestating 'Assassin's Creed' live-action series adaptation is moving forward at Netflix. The news comes nearly five years after it was first reported that the streaming giant was developing a series version of the global hit video game franchise under a deal with game publisher Ubisoft. The project has gone through multiple creative teams in that time, with Roberto Patino and David Wiener now set as creators, showrunners, and executive producers. In addition to Wiener and Patino, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin and Austin Dill of Ubisoft Film & Television serve as executive producers, as does Matt O'Toole. The first 'Assassin's Creed' game debuted in 2007 and became an instant hit, with over 230 million copies of the various titles in the franchise having been sold to date. There have been 14 installments in the main franchise so far, with the most recent being 'Assassin's Creed: Shadows,' released in 2025. A film adaptation starring Michael Fassbender was released in 2016. The official logline for the show states that it is 'centered on the secret war between two shadowy factions — one set on determining mankind's future through control and manipulation, while the other fights to preserve free will. The series follows its characters across pivotal historical events as they battle to shape humanity's destiny.' The 'Assassin's Creed' games explore the war between the rival secret orders of the Assassins and the Templars as they use advanced machines to access the genetic memories of Assassins in different periods of the past to track down powerful artifacts called Pieces of Eden. This will be the first live-action series produced under the Netflix-Ubisoft deal. Previously, the two companies partnered on the animated show 'Rabbids Invasion' as well as 'Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix.' The animated series 'Splinter Cell: Deathwatch' is slated to debut later this year. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language
