Manhunt launched after the brutal murder of a 78-year-old farmer at a Roossenekal farm
The 78-year-old male victim was found by a family member on Thursday in the bathroom in a pool of blood with a cloth in his mouth and bound with wire.
According to the police, he had visible severe wounds on the forehead.
Acting Limpopo police commissioner Maj-Gen Samuel Manala ordered police to mobilise available resources to search for suspects responsible for the murder.
Police spokesperson Col Malesela Ledwaba said a murder case has been opened by the Roossenekal police in the Sekhukhune district.
Preliminary investigations revealed the victim's blue Chery vehicle was spotted on the R555 heading towards the Burgersfort policing area.
The vehicle was later found abandoned after having overturned, about 6km from the crime scene.
'Police urge anyone who can provide information that can lead to the apprehension of the suspects to contact the investigating officer Sgt Millicent Mokgomogane on 076-614-0141 or the Crime Stop number 08600-10111,' Ledwaba said.

Limpopo woman arrested for ‘choking three-month-old baby to death'
Police have arrested a 20-year-old woman for allegedly choking a three-month-old baby to death in Mundzedzi village in Limpopo. The woman, who is a relative of the deceased, was allegedly holding the baby in a house when the incident happened. Two people who were sitting outside witnessed the incident. They immediately intervened and rushed the baby to the Vleifontein clinic, where he was declared dead by medical services personnel. A 20-year-old woman will appear before Makhado Magistrate court in Limpopo soon in connection with the alleged murder of a three-month-baby. Police in Bandelierkop under Vhembe District arrested the 20-year-old female following the untimely death of a three-month-old child on Friday, 1 August, at about 18:00 in Mundzedzi village. Police spokesperson in Limpopo, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, said police were on patrol duties when they were summoned at Vleifontein clinic at about 18:30 after being informed about two individuals who brought a deceased child to the facility. Upon arrival, a medical officer pointed to the lifeless body of a child on the bed. Ledwaba said the duo informed police that they were seated outside the house with a 20-year-old woman suspect holding the child. 'Reports suggest that while they were seated, the suspect took the child and went inside the house, and after a few minutes, they went inside to check on her. They allegedly found the suspect in a seated position and choking the baby. 'They intervened and took the victim and rushed him to the local clinic, and he succumbed to his injuries. He was declared dead by the medical services personnel,' Ledwaba explained. Additionally, Ledwaba said following the incident, a case of murder was immediately opened and the suspect was traced and subsequently apprehended for the murder of a three-month-old victim. 'The motive behind the incident is unknown, and a 20-year-old suspect who is a relative of the deceased will appear before the Makhado Magistrate's court soon, facing a charge of murder. Image: SAPS Two additional suspects have been apprehended for the brutal murder of the Limpopo mother, aged 34, and her two-year-old daughter. On Saturday, IOL reported that the two went missing in May, sparking an extensive search. On Friday, police conducted an operation at Hlabeni, under the Saselamani policing area, and arrested a 55-year-old man. 'Further police investigations led the (police) members to the residence of a 38-year-old traditional healer at Muraga village under the Thohoyandou precinct. The traditional healer was allegedly found in possession of the missing heads of the two victims and was also placed under arrest,' said provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba. It is reported that on Wednesday, police followed a credible lead which led to the discovery of the bodies of the mother and her daughter. Next Stay Close ✕ Police said Tshilidzi Phalandwa, 43, and Balangani Sedzani Tshivhombedze, 32, appeared before the Thohoyandou Magistrate's Court on Friday. The duo was remanded in custody, and the matter was postponed to 12 August for further investigation. Meanwhile, two other suspects aged 55 and 38, are set to appear before the Thohoyandou Magistrate's Court on Monday, facing charges of murder. Furthermore, police said a charge of possession of human tissue will be added against the 38-year-old man, the traditional healer. Police have also established that one of the arrested suspects is alleged to be the boyfriend of the deceased woman. 'The motive behind this heinous act of crime is still under investigation,' said Ledwaba. Meanwhile, provincial commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has welcomed the arrests, and she saluted the investigating teams 'for their remarkable skill' which resulted in the tracking down of the alleged killers.
