Asia's entrants for Women's T20WC 2026 Qualifier confirmed
Nepal completed the chase of UAE's 114 in the final over to seal their progress on Monday, joining Thailand who also secured their path to the next round.
After electing to field against the UAE in Bangkok, Nepal side kept a plug on the Emirati scoring rate and despite Esha Oza's patient 39, the Middle East side could reach only 114/7 in the 20 over mark. Manisha Upadhyay starred with 4/20 with the ball.
Nepal were clinical with the willow, and never lost sight of the target despite setbacks. Their five wicket win was sealed in the 20th over, with skipper Indu Barma (30) and Rubina Chhetry (23) making important contributions.
Naruemol Chaiwai's side had earlier defeated the Emiratis in action on Sunday, and with Thailand's match against Nepal the only remaining fixture, neither side can be overtaken on the points tally.
Thailand's win over UAE was a dominant display from the South-East Asian side, who posted 144/5 in the first innings, on the back of Natthakan Chantham's (46* from 20) blazing outing, and Nattaya Boochatham's (49 from 48) steady hand. The UAE had lost Esha Oza early and were never in contention of chase thereafter, finishing at 90/5 in their quota of overs.

Welcoming 68 individuals from 20 different countries to the roster, the NFL's elite player development program based in Loughborough, U.K., supports talented student athletes from across the world. Following strong performances during the 2024 season, the Academy will once again face key matchups against four highly regarded U.S. high school teams. The team's season will kick off in Dublin, Ireland, on Aug. 22 nd against The Hun School, New Jersey. The game will take place as part of the Global Ireland Football Tournament (GIFT) ahead of the 2025 Aer Lingus College Football Classic. The season's second game is scheduled for a week later, with the team travelling to the U.S. to take on the Edgewater Eagles in Orlando, Florida, on Aug. 29 th. The match-up represents a rematch of the sides' thrilling 2024 meeting in Loughborough, in which Edgewater claimed victory by 51-45. The highlight of the season will come on Oct. 8 th, when the NFL Academy return to the field at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. They will face off against 16-time State and 3-time National champions, St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders, from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Tickets for the game are available to purchase via Ticketmaster ( with all proceeds going to support the NFL Foundation UK and NFL Academy. The final match-up against U.S. high schools sees the NFL Academy return to the U.S. for a meeting with IMG Academy in Florida. Having played the state IMG team for the past three seasons here in Europe, the NFL Academy will now play the IMG National team for the first time. On the sidelines, Steve Hagen will also continue in his role as Head Coach for a third season, seeking to build on the program's success to date. 2025 will see over 40 NFL Academy alumni playing NCAA college football, with 27 set to feature in Division I. Saliya Saman banned for five years under Anti-Corruption Code
Former Sri Lankan domestic cricketer Saliya Saman has been banned from all cricket for five years after an ICC Anti-Corruption Tribunal found him guilty of breaching the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) Anti-Corruption Code. Saman was among eight people charged in September 2023 for breaching the Code. The charges relate to the 2021 Abu Dhabi T10 Cricket League and attempts to corrupt matches in that tournament which were disrupted by the ICC, the Designated Anti-Corruption Official (DACO) for the purposes of the ECB's Code for the tournament. Following a full hearing and presentation of written and oral argument, the Tribunal found Saman guilty of: Article 2.1.1 – Being party to an attempt to fix, contrive or influence improperly matches or aspects of matches in the Abu Dhabi T10 2021. Article 2.1.3 – Offering a Reward to another Participant in exchange for that player engaging in Corrupt Conduct under the Code. Article 2.1.4 – Directly or indirectly soliciting, inducing, enticing, instructing, persuading, encouraging or intentionally facilitating any Participant to breach Code Article 2.1. The ban is backdated to 13 September 2023, when Saman was provisionally suspended. England have two players holding onto the No.1 spot on the ICC Women's ODI Player Rankings , with skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt (batting) and spinner Sophie Ecclestone (bowling) both currently rated as the best in the world in their specific profession and the duo likely to play a major role in the side's race to this year's World Cup title. Edwards suggested the pair were in good shape ahead of England's World Cup tilt and said the team were working extremely hard at getting rid of the tag as being a poor fielding side. "It is something we are working on, we know we have that tag now," Edwards added. "Sometimes I get frustrated because we can drop one catch and we are labelled a bad fielding team, even though we have fielded really well otherwise. "I am confident we can get to a place where people are talking really positively about our fielding."
