UFC 318 will be at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana on July 19. The early prelims start at 6:30 p.m. ET, while the prelims are at 8 p.m. ET. The main card starts at 10 p.m. ET, and Holloway and Poirier should make their way to the octagon around 12:30 a.m. ET, depending on how long the undercard fights last.
Poirier's (30-9, 1 NC) tied for multiple UFC records, including most Fight of the Night bonuses (10) and most finishes (6) against current, former, or future UFC champions. The former interim champion is 2-2 in his last four fights.
The 36-year-old is ready to call it a career after competing since 2009. First, the Lafayette-born fighter known as "The Diamond" looks to shine bright in front of family and friends. Regardless of the result, he knows how he wants to be remembered.
"When I look back at the journey, I think I did everything exactly the way it was supposed to be," Poirier told MMA Junkie. "There's things I could've done differently in fights, obviously. Hindsight is 20/20. I could've zigged a lot of times when I should've zagged, or vice versa. That's what it is.

"I just want people to remember me as a hard worker, a kid who chased his dreams, provided for his family, his community, tried to do the right thing, but was just a man. Not perfect, fought his ass off, never said die. That's it. Just a warrior."
Holloway (26-8) is a former featherweight champion and one of the most lethal punchers in MMA history. "Blessed" is 3-1 in his last four fights, winning the BMF Title following a dramatic buzzer-beater knockout win against Justin Gaethje at UFC 300.
Poirier won the first fight between the two in 2012 via a first-round armbar. The second fight in 2019 saw both men land a combined 359 significant strikes. Poirier won one again, this time via decision. This time around, the Hawaiian is ready to throw down until one man is left standing.
"If it's a war he wants, it's a war he's going to get. It's going to be a bunch of knuckleheads in there. I wouldn't want it any other way, especially with the BMF title on the line," Holloway told MMA Junkie.

Mets induct David Wright into team Hall of Fame, retire No. 5
NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Mets inducted David Wright into their Hall of Fame and retired his No. 5 on Saturday — nearly 21 years after his big league debut. 'I went straight from the airport to the ballpark and I couldn't wait to see what number I was going to be,' Wright said at a press conference Saturday. 'That spring I was 72, and I would have been perfectly happy with 72. 'But later on I found out that Charlie Samuels, the old equipment guy, gave me 5 because of Brooks Robinson and George Brett.' Wright, who debuted against the Montreal Expos on July 21, 2004, appeared to be on track to join Robinson and Brett as a Hall of Fame third baseman when he hit .301 with 222 homers, 876 RBIs and an .888 OPS through his first 10 seasons. But Wright played just 211 more games while battling chronic back, shoulder and neck injuries as well as a diagnosis of spinal stenosis. He went more than two years between big league appearances before concluding his career with a pair of cameos in September 2018. 'There was nothing that I could do to do the thing anymore,' Wright said. 'It took a while for my brain and my heart to kind of match up with that. But I think that very, very few athletes get the ending that they want — that storybook ending. I certainly wouldn't call mine a storybook ending, but it's better than 99% of what athletes get and I'll forever be thankful for getting that opportunity.' Wright, the Mets' most recent captain and the only player in team history to have his number retired after spending his entire career with the club, expressed his gratitude throughout a speech that capped a half-hour ceremony emceed by broadcaster Howie Rose. Wright, emerging from the third base side of Citi Field, walked to a gold-plated third base, stood atop the bag and blew kisses to the sellout crowd. In an appropriate Mets touch, a plane taking off from nearby LaGuardia ascended into view moments after his No. 5 was unveiled high above the left field seats. The 42-year-old married father of three, praised throughout his career for his ability to connect with stars and everyday people alike as well as his appreciation of Mets history, mentioned late media relations executive Shannon Dalton Forde and late team photographer Marc Levine during his press conference. 'If you would have told a young David Wright to close his eyes and imagine this day, I would have said you're crazy, no way, impossible,' said Wright, a Virginia native who grew up rooting for the Mets while attending their Triple-A games in Tidewater. 'And then I would have went out in my backyard in Virginia and hit off a homemade tee with balls that were falling apart at the seams until it got dark outside to prove you right. 'Thank you so much for allowing me to live out my dream in front of you each night. I love you so much. Let's go Mets.' 15-year-old Aphrodite Deng becomes first Canadian winner in US Girls' Junior history
JOHNS CREEK, Ga. (AP) — Aphrodite Deng became the first Canadian winner in U.S. Girls' Junior history, beating Xingtong Chen of Singapore 2 and 1 on Saturday in the 36-hole final at Atlanta Athletic Club. The 15-year-old Deng won her third junior major title of the year, following the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley in April and the Mizuho Americas Open in May. She earned a spot in the 2026 U.S. Women's Open at Riviera. 'It really means a lot. I just can't believe that I won,' Deng said. 'I didn't really think about the end result because I knew there were a lot of good players here. I just tried to win each match.' Deng had a 4-up lead over the 16-year-old Chen — the first player from Singapore to reach the championship match — after 18 holes. Chen cut the deficit to two twice on the second 18, the last with a par win on the 34th. Deng ended it on the 35th by matching Chen's par. 'I think I stayed in the moment throughout the whole match,' Deng said. 'I did get a little tired at the end.
