Arrest warrant issued, puppies rescued from Wheat Ridge motel up for adoption

Yahoo19-02-2025
DENVER (KDVR) — Eleven German shepherd puppies are doing much better after they were rescued from a motel in Wheat Ridge earlier this month, meanwhile an arrest warrant is out for their owner.
Police officers with the Wheat Ridge Police Department rescued 11 puppies from a motel on Feb. 1. Community Services Officer Timothy Haines told FOX31's Nicole Fierro that the puppies were found living in unsanitary conditions, with dogs crammed in crates, feces in several places and one puppy was actively bleeding.

Haines also said the mother was recently hit on Kipling Street due to neglect.
The owner was issued a summons to appear in court for 11 counts of animal cruelty. Police said she did not show up for her court appearance that was scheduled for last week, and a warrant is now out for her arrest.
The puppies were impounded and taken to a local shelter. It was discovered that all 11 of them had GI infections. Haines said they were playful and happy once they were acclimated and were happy to have some food and water.
Tuesday, police said in a post on Facebook that the puppies are at Foothills Animal Shelter and are doing 'much better.' Some are now even ready for adoption.
The police department said the shelter is looking to get the puppies in 'good homes with owners that will truly care for them.'
The puppies are about three months old, and the adoption fees are about $500. More information about the puppies listed for adoption can be found on the shelter's website.

Authorities charge man suspected of planning attack in Germany, possibly targeting Israeli Embassy

BERLIN -- German prosecutors announced terrorism charges Wednesday against a man who they say may have planned to attack the Israeli Embassy in Berlin and intended to join the Islamic State group in Pakistan. The suspect, a Russian national identified only as Akhmad E. in line with German privacy rules, was arrested on Feb. 20 at the capital's airport as he prepared to board a flight. He has now been indicted on charges of supporting a foreign terrorist organization, attempted membership in such a group, and preparing a serious act of violence. Federal prosecutors said in a statement that the suspect initially planned to carry out an attack in Germany, possibly on the Israeli Embassy. He allegedly found instructions for making explosives on the internet but was unable to pursue the plan because he couldn't get a hold of the necessary components. At the same time, the suspect was allegedly translating propaganda into Russian and Chechen for IS. Prosecutors said he intended to join the group in Pakistan and get military training, and that he financed the trip by taking out two contracts for expensive smartphones, which he then sold. He allegedly sent a video declaring loyalty to the group to a suspected IS member outside of Germany shortly before his departure. The indictment was filed earlier this month to a court in Berlin, which will now have to decide whether to send the case to trial.

Two German fighter jets were deployed from Romania overnight amid a large-scale Russian drone and missile attack on Ukraine that struck key Danube River port infrastructure near the NATO frontier. The German Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft, stationed at Romania's 57th Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base as part of NATO's Enhanced Air Policing mission, were launched to monitor the aerial situation in the border area with Ukraine, particularly northern Tulcea County, according to Romania's Ministry of National Defense. The jets were airborne during a window in which Ukraine's military reported 93 drones and two ballistic missiles were launched across 20 locations in the country, including the Odesa region. Some drones struck targets in the city of Izmail, adjacent to Romania across the Danube, causing fires and injuring at least one person, Ukrainian authorities said. No Russian aerial vehicles entered Romanian airspace during the mission, and the German jets returned safely to base, landing at 1:10 a.m. local time.
