Wynn Las Vegas Gathers Culinary Icons, Including Ducasse And Lagasse, For A Once-In-A-Lifetime Dinner

When Wynn Las Vegas' Revelry culinary festival arrives September 19 to 27, the hottest ticket will be the Icons Dinner, a once-in-a-lifetime meal from some of the world's most renowned chefs, including Alain Ducasse, Marcus Samuelsson, Emeril Lagasse, Dominique Crenn, Jacques Torres and Alfred Portale, the hotel exclusively shared with Forbes Travel Guide.
During the 7 p.m. Sept. 27 dinner at the Four-Star hotel's new PISCES Bar & Seafare restaurant, a tasting menu will celebrate culinary excellence with each distinguished chef offering a signature dish.

'You're gonna really get dishes that defined these chefs throughout the years,' said chef Christopher Lee, vice president of Culinary Operations and Restaurant Development at Wynn Las Vegas.
'I really wanted to honor the bold, vibrant flavors of the Caribbean and the Bahamas,' Samuelsson said about his planned plate: jerk oxtail with lobster peas and rice, island curry, squash blossoms and pikliz (a pickled slaw). 'These places have given so much to global food culture.'
'The jerk oxtail brings that deep, smoky heat that I love, layered with spices that bring everything to the next level,' he said. 'Then we've got the lobster peas and rice, which nods to the Bahamian comfort classics but elevates it with that sweet, briny lobster that feels like a celebration.' The island curry pulls from both West Indian and African traditions, and the pikliz lends crunch, acid and a Haitian punch of flavor, he added. 'This dish is about connection between islands, cultures and kitchens.'

According to Lee, the Icons were carefully chosen. 'They had to be, like OGs — iconic GOATs in the industry.' He then rattled off their bona fides: 'Marcus Samuelsson brought Scandinavian food to the forefront in New York City — his Ethiopian influence and his recent adventures are awesome. He's just dialed in.'
Referencing Lagasse, Lee said, 'I know he's a big TV personality and some people might have opinions that he's more TV than culinary driven. But I will challenge that every day of the week because when he cooks for you, he cooks amazing food.'
Lee said he's looking forward to meeting Alain Ducasse: 'When I was young, I was completely inspired by him.'

He added that Dominique Crenn, who returns for her second Revelry appearance, is one of the best chefs in the world. Lee also called Alfred Portale 'the godfather of New York City.' 'If you want to look at the chefs that really took New York American cuisine to the forefront, he's one of them.' And 'Jacques Torres is probably the most iconic chocolatier in the world,' he said.
When Samuelsson reflects on his Icon status, he wants to pay it forward. 'I came to the U.S. 30 years ago, a young chef born in a hut in Ethiopia, raised in Sweden, with a dream about making it in New York City,' he said. 'Every part of that journey has shaped who I am today, and I don't take a second of it for granted. Being able now to give back and help raise up the amazing talents around me is the part of this stage of life that I value most.'
The dinner will cap off the nine-day Revelry. Lee said what makes the food festival even more special is that it drew inspiration from Cirque du Soleil's residences to create 'immersive worlds' and add a Vegas spin. Rather than going to a tent to enjoy Chinese dim sum or Thai noodles, a set will transport you to Asia. There will also be more food-and-beverage-related entertainment this year. While Lee is leaving the specifics as a surprise, he said attendees can expect activities like last year's sacrificial cutting of a 350-pound tuna on stage with samurai swords.
This will mark Dominique Crenn's second Revelry. Wynn Las Vegas
Altogether, the second annual event will bring about 30 chefs to Vegas for a slate that includes culinary collaboration dinners (try the 'From Farm to Knife Lunch' with Katina and Kyle Connaughton of Five-Star SingleThread Farms Restaurant in Healdsburg and Jeff Ramsey of Wynn Las Vegas' Four-Star Mizumi) as well as 'connoisseur' classes (ranging from barbecue with pitmasters Burt Bakman of L.A.'s Slab and Daniel Castillo of San Juan Capistrano, California's Heritage Barbecue, to bourbon with Brother's Bond founder and actor Ian Somerhalder).
Lee also will host an All-Star Dinner featuring chefs Angie Mar (Le B., New York), Gavin Kaysen (Spoon and Stable, Minneapolis), Fariyal Abdullahi (Hav & Mar, New York), JJ Johnson (Fieldtrip, New York) and pastry chefs Jennifer Yee (Wynn) and Juan Contreras (Atelier Crenn, San Francisco).
Alfred Portale will bring New York cooking to Las Vegas. Wynn Las Vegas
But the most coveted event will be the Icons Dinner — and not just for the guests. 'There's nothing more inspiring than coming together with culinary legends like Dominique Crenn, Alain Ducasse, Emeril Lagasse and Alfred Portale,' Samuelsson said. 'Each of them brings their own incredible flavor, story and spirit to the table. I can't wait to see the culinary power we create together and share that energy with every guest who joins us. Let's make it unforgettable.'
The Icons Dinner will also serve craft cocktail pairings from Mariena Mercer Boarini, Wynn's master mixologist, and wines to complement each course from Brian Weitzman, the hotel's executive director of wine. John Oliver's Moon Mammoth rebrand of Erie's minor league baseball team draws record-sized crowd

A minor league baseball team in Western Pennsylvania drew big crowds and lots of attention on Saturday night. The Erie SeaWolves, a Double-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, became the Erie Moon Mammoths for one day only. This quirky rebrand comes after the team was selected by comedian John Oliver and his team at HBO's Last Week Tonight for the surprise transformation. Mayor Joe Schember even issued a proclamation, declaring July 19, 2025, Moon Mammoth Day, to celebrate the occasion, NBC News affiliate WICU reports. "The inherent eccentricity of minor league baseball is something that we felt a real affinity with," Oliver said. "The more we looked into it the more we thought there might be fun to have. And, once we put out the request for 'who would be down for rebranding,' it was not surprising but edifying to see just how many teams went 'yeah we'd be down for that.'" The SeaWolves had no say on their rebrand name or logo. The Last Week Tonight team dug into Erie's history to pick Moon Mammoths, a name inspired by the 1991 discovery of woolly mammoth remains in a local lake. Oliver threw out the first pitch at the game, which drew a record-setting crowd of more than 7,000 fans. The SeaWolves will don the Mammoths' branding three more times throughout the summer. America's 15 best gas stations for food, according to online reviews

Gas station food often gets a bad rap — but for many travelers on a road trip, there may not be much of a choice. Pit stops across the U.S. provide options that go far beyond processed and packaged snacks, instead offering healthy smoothies, specialty doughnuts, sushi and more. Many are family-owned and operated, have stood the test of time — and some even donate a portion of their proceeds to charities. The food website Chowhound put together a list of 15 gas station chains with the best food, based on online reviews. Check it out. A family-owned convenience store founded in 1965, Kwik Trip is based in Wisconsin but has over 850 stores across the Midwest, according to its website. It is known for all-day breakfast sandwiches, a hot food bar and its specialty "Dunkers" and "Glazers" – doughnuts baked in-house. "It's a five-star restaurant that happens to also sell gas," one person said in a review, as Chowhound noted. QuikTrip has over 1,000 stores across 17 states, including its headquarters in Oklahoma. Fans love "QT" for its craft coffee and signature QuickShakes, which come in seasonal flavors like caramel apple, candy corn and strawberry kiwi. Other favorites are roller grill options, twists on the grilled cheese – such as a chicken, bacon and ranch option – and pulled pork sandwiches. "Very stuffed, beautifully flavored, nice tangy sauce – and for $5," one man wrote in a Yelp review. With 800 locations across Utah and 20 other western states, Maverik features its own brand of food named BonFire, in keeping with its adventure theme that includes burritos, salads, wraps, pizzas and sandwiches. Maverik's fountain drinks offer a wide variety of brands and flavor mix-ins like coconut, lime and cream. The family-owned Kelley's Market, founded in 1926, has 50 locations across Illinois and Wisconsin. Travelers can refuel with Kelley's beloved cappuccinos and grab smoothies, tacos and burritos. Some locations also offer Noble Roman's craft pizza and Which Wich Superior Sandwiches, home of the "Elvis Wich" — packed with peanut butter, bacon, bananas and honey. Founded in 1968 as a general store in Boone, Iowa, Casey's has since grown to over 2,900 locations across 20 states. The spot is famous for its breakfast pizza, which has scrambled eggs, cheese and a choice of cheese sauce or sausage gravy on top. It also offers thin crust and cauliflower crust options. "At Casey's, it all comes down to the pizza," spokesperson Katie Petru told Fox News Digital. "We've been making it for over 40 years, and our fans know us for our made-from-scratch dough, whole milk mozzarella cheese and abundantly topped pies." This is said to be the place to stop for fried chicken when traveling through Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, West Virginia and North Carolina. The chicken is lightly breaded and pressure-cooked in trans-fat-free cooking oil, while the fries are hand-cut and hand-breaded from fresh Idaho potatoes, its website says. "It definitely tastes like it was cooked with some soul," one TikToker said in a review. Wawa began in 1902 as a Pennsylvania dairy farm. It's now known along the East Coast with over 1,100 locations. Its cult-favorite coffee and frozen, house-made energy drinks offer a pick-me-up, while its seasonal sandwiches and specialty sides are praised by reviewers. "This is the best flavor combination I've quite literally ever had," one TikToker said about the garlic aioli mac and cheese. Hy-Vee first opened as a market in 1930, later expanded to include gas stations and has since branched out into full-service restaurants. Hy-Vee's 240 locations across the Midwest are a one-stop destination for fuel, snacks, seafood, groceries and more. Popular options are its breakfast pizza, salad bars and sushi counters – which dole out unexpected rolls like a Cheetos "Flamin' Hot" version. A Tennessee-based chain with just over 85 locations, Weigel's also owns and operates Broadacre Dairy Inc, which processes milk, tea, juices and eggnog for its convenience stores, as well as its own bakery, Red Barn Foods. Weigel's is known for its pizza and flavored milk, in particular the horchata and orange creamsicle variations. Founded in 1972 in Greenville, South Carolina, Spinx has 84 locations throughout the Carolinas. The destinations are for foodies in search of comfort foods like fried chicken, fried pork chops and sausage croissants. Other southern favorites include chicken gizzards, patty melts and corn dogs. Pennsylvania-based Rutter's has over 90 locations that offer local produce, like watermelon, blueberries and sweet corn in grab-and-go cases. "Out of all the not-really-a-truck-stop truck stops, Rutter's is easily the best," one Reddit user wrote in a review. Buc-ee's, founded in Texas, has since expanded to 54 locations across nine states. It boasts having the "cleanest restrooms in America" – winning a contest in 2012. Additionally, it's renowned for its extensive food offerings, particularly its brisket, "Beaver Nuggets" cheese puffs, breakfast tacos, fudge, jerky and more. Love's began as a single truck stop in Oklahoma and has grown to over 600 locations nationwide. Love's sells hot-and-ready items like tacos, hot dogs and egg rolls, plus a lighter menu of healthier options like fruit cups and parfaits. For more Lifestyle articles, visit "We always love to hear that our customers say they love Love's," spokesperson Tracey Budz told Fox News Digital. "We focus on flavor, freshness and crave-ability, as well as making sure the food offerings are portable and easy to eat on the go." The list would be remiss without 7-Eleven, the largest convenience store chain, according to NACS Magazine, with over 85,000 stores worldwide. Home of the Slurpee and Big Gulp, 7-Eleven has a private label, 7-Select, that includes premium sandwiches, salads, snacks and fruit cups. Its varying hot food offerings typically include hot dogs, pizza, chicken wings and taquitos. Yesway, which acquired the Allsup's convenience store chain in 2019, has over 400 locations across the Southwest and Plains states. It's known for its "world-famous" burritos, particularly the deep-fried beef and bean iteration. Other varieties include a new pepperoni pizza burrito, plus the "Chicken Chimmy with Hatch Chili," "Chili Rueno Hatch Green Chili and Cheese" and the "Chimmy Chimmy Chonga."
