PARIS, France -- French police have recovered by chance the long-lost bust of American singer Jim Morrison that once adorned the grave of the iconic frontman of The Doors, 37 years after it was stolen from a Paris cemetery.
The sculpture, missing since 1988, was found during a search tied to a fraud case led by the Paris public prosecutor's office, a source close to the investigation told AFP.
Nostalgic rock fans still flock to Morrison's grave at Paris's Pere Lachaise cemetery, where he was buried after his death in the French capital in 1971 at the age of 27.
The sculpture, by Croatian artist Mladen Mikulin, had been placed at the grave to mark the 10th anniversary of Morrison's death.
It was found by the financial and anti-corruption brigade of the judicial police department of the police.
The exact circumstances of the singer's death are still shrouded in mystery, with most early accounts saying he died of cardiac arrest in his bathtub.
A French journalist, Sam Bernett, claimed in a 2007 book that close friends and family spun the official version of Morrison's death to sanitise his reputation.
Bernett said Morrison actually died from a heroin overdose on the toilet of a nightclub that the journalist owned at the time, the 'Rock 'n' Roll Circus' on Paris's Left Bank.
The Doors, founded in Los Angeles, were among the most influential rock groups of the late 1960s and early '70s and a mainstay of the counterculture of the times.
Their hits include 'Riders on the Storm', 'Light My Fire' and 'The End', a haunting song that features prominently in Francis Ford Coppola's 1979 Vietnam war movie 'Apocalypse Now'.
In February, Paris named a bridge after the iconic singer, located just steps from the bohemian Marais district where he last lived.

(AP Photo/Daniel Cole) TORONTO — Big-screen heavyweights are all over the small-screen lineup at the Toronto International Film Festival, which will preview new shows from Jude Law, Jason Bateman, Toni Collette, Ethan Hawke and Mae Martin. Festival organizers say its Primetime slate will open with Hulu's 'The Lowdown' from 'Reservation Dogs' co-creator, writer and director Sterlin Harjo. It stars Hawke as a Tulsa citizen journalist obsessed with exposing corruption. ethan hawke A still from the Hulu series "The Lowdown," starring Ethan Hawke, left, and Ryan Kiera Armstrong, which will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, is seen in this handout photo. The lineup hints at the star wattage bound TIFF's 50th edition Sept. 4 to 14, since organizers say all Primetime screenings will include an extended Q+A with creators and cast. TIFF also announced 48 films in its Short Cuts program, and introduced a new award for best animated short, joining the fest's two prizes for international and Canadian shorts. The 48 shorts include the world premieres of 'Dust to Dreams' directed by actor Idris Elba and starring singer Seal; and 'The Contestant,' starring David Hasselhoff, from duo Patrick Xavier Bresnan and Ivete Lucas. North American premieres include Joecar Hanna's 'Talk Me,' executive produced by Spike Lee, and 'The Non-Actor' starring Maya Hawke and Victoria Pedretti. The 20 Canadian titles include 'The Girl Who Cried Pearls' from Oscar-nominated animators Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski and the satire 'Bots' from 'Scarborough' directors Rich Williamson and Shasha Nakhai. Kelly Fyffe-Marshall of the TIFF '22 feature 'When Morning Comes' joins the shorts lineup with 'Demons' while Chelsea McMullan of the TIFF '23 ballet doc 'Swan Song' returns with 'Healer.' Cape Breton musicians save the day after Sloan's gear doesn't show up

Tony Leudy and Stephen Campbell lent their gear to Sloan during Red Farm Field Trip music festival. (CTV Atlantic/Katie Kelly) The first-ever Red Farm Field Trip music festival wrapped up with a bang in Cape Breton, thanks to some last-minute local heroics that helped keep the show on the road. Canadian rock legends Sloan were set to headline Sunday night's performance in Howie Centre, N.S., but just hours before taking the stage, they found themselves without their gear. While the band made it to Cape Breton, their equipment didn't. 'My phone was blowing up,' said Stephen Campbell, a local musician. 'I had about seven different people calling and texting me, asking if I had any gear on this list.' Campbell and fellow musician Tony Leudy were two of the locals who quickly stepped in to help, answering the call from organizers who were scrambling to find replacements. 'They said 'Sloan's gear didn't arrive. Do you have anything?'' Campbell said. 'And I was like, 'I have pretty much all of it.'' Gear The gear Tony Leudy and Stephen Campbell loaned to Sloan. The generosity didn't go unnoticed. Sloan gave mid-set shout-outs to the local crew who saved the show, turning a potential cancellation into an unforgettable night. 'It was pretty cool,' said Campbell. 'I'd grown up listening to them, and then looking up on stage and they're playing your guitars and pedals - it was amazing.' Campbell is a member of RG Schaller and the Peacemakers, who have several upcoming shows including a spot at Rock the Fiddle.

Beyoncé's new Levi's jeans ad has the Hive buzzing

Beyoncé, seen here on June 24, 2025, in Paris, has a new music video-style ad for a new collaboration with Levi's. (via CNN Newsource) Beyoncé might have a song titled 'Levii's Jeans,' but her connection to that particular article of clothing just got more formal. Parkwood Entertainment, the superstar singer's company, posted a video titled 'Chapter 4: The Denim Cowboy' to its verified Instagram account on Monday, which amounted to a lavish music video-style ad for a new collaboration between Levi's and Queen Bey. In the clip, Beyoncé she portrays as a pool shark who dons a few 'denim on denim' outfits, paying homage to a lyric in her titular Levi's song which plays over the ad. A few hours later, Levi's posted a series of photos showing Beyoncé wearing what appeared to be the last denim outfit she wore in the video. One thing in the clip stood out to the Beyhive, or Hive, as Beyoncé's devoted fan base is known – while wearing that final outfit, she is seen driving off on a motorcycle at the very end. Since she is seen riding up on a horse at the beginning of the ad, some believe it's a subtle hint that her widely anticipated next album will be a rock-themed one, after her last record, titled 'Cowboy Carter,' arrived last year as a much-hyped country crossover. Fans have pointed to several things they believe have been a hint of what genre her planned 'Act III' album will be, including Beyoncé donning outfits resembling those worn by the late rocker Tina Turner during her recent 'Cowboy Carter Tour.' Beyoncé has been showing off her superstar skills with different genres. Her 'Act I' album, 2022's 'Renaissance,' was disco- and dance music-themed ahead of 'Act II,' which was 'Cowboy Carter.'
