Imtiaz Ali Reveals REAL Reason Why Bobby Deol Was Removed From Jab We Met: 'Voh Wait Kar Raha Tha'

Imtiaz Ali said Bobby Deol was considering offers from other directors and making him wait.
Bobby Deol recently revealed he was 'really upset" after being abruptly removed from Jab We Met, despite initiating its early development with Kareena Kapoor Khan and director Imtiaz Ali. Amid this, an old interview of Imtiaz Ali is doing the rounds on social media. While speaking to The Lallantop, Imtiaz recalled why Bobby was left out of the film.
Imtiaz Ali said, 'Jab We Met ko Bobby Deol ke saath banane ka plan kar raha tha. Start kari picture but usko kuch aur offers mil rahe the, kuch bade directors ke saath. Toh voh wait kar raha tha. Keh raha tha ki iske baad kar lenge, uske baad kar lenge. Toh, karte karte ek aisa waqt aagaya jo mujhe laga ki ab yeh theek nahi lag raha. "
Imtiaz added, 'Bohot waqt beet chuka hai kyuki vaise bhi, 5 saal tak maine ek hi film ki hai. Uske baad bhi ek do saal tak main kuch nahi kar raha tha. Toh matlab financially and even in life, you want to do things. Toh maine bola Bobby yeh film nahi banate hain. Let us decide this today. Let us shake our hands ki film nahi banate kyuki humara ek doosre ke saath sahi nahi rahega."
Imtiaz's interview has resurfaced amid Bobby Deol's recent revelation of feeling hurt. Speaking to Instant Bollywood, Bobby shared how he first discovered the script while watching a rush print of Socha Na Tha, which Imtiaz was directing with Bobby's cousin Abhay Deol. Impressed, Bobby urged Imtiaz to write a film for him, which eventually evolved into Jab We Met. 'I tried really hard to make that film (Jab We Met) happen; I reached out to a lot of people," he said.
Bobby claimed that he played a major role in bringing the production house Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision on board. The producers, he said, were interested in working with him but hesitant about backing Imtiaz, who was still relatively new at the time. Bobby pushed for the collaboration and successfully convinced them to give the director a shot.
He also reached out to Kareena Kapoor Khan through a contact to offer her the lead role, but she initially declined. Preity Zinta was also approached, but turned it down, saying she would consider it at a later time. However, despite his involvement in setting the wheels in motion, Bobby was ultimately dropped from the project. Kareena changed her mind, and the role eventually went to Shahid Kapoor, forming a duo that would go on to create one of Bollywood's most cherished romantic films.

Meet actress, known as 'The Kiss Girl', changed religion before marriage, Hema Malini used to get jealous of her; Her name is...

Many Bollywood actresses earned immense name and fame in their time, but over the years, their presence faded from the limelight. Today, we are going to talk about one such actress who rose to great fame during the 1960s and 70s. Sonia Sahni entertained audiences with her brilliant acting for 34 years, but her real life was filled with many ups and downs. She played the role of Rishi Kapoor's mother in the film Bobby – perhaps you'll recognise her from that. According to media reports, Sonia Sahni's family was Sikh, but after the partition, her parents converted to Christianity. Her real name was Usha Sahni, but she changed it after entering the film industry. Her family originally belonged to Pakistan; her father was from Lahore, and her mother from Peshawar. After the partition, the entire family settled in Kashmir, India. During Sonia's time in the industry, romantic scenes in films were often censored or symbolically portrayed using flowers. However, in her debut film, Sonia broke the norm by performing a kissing scene with I.S. Johar. This bold move gained her instant fame and earned her the title 'The Kissing Girl'. She was last seen in the 1999 film Phool Aur Aag. It is said that when her career was at its peak, she fell in love with Shiv Palitana, the prince of the famous Palitana state during the British Raj. His full name was Shivendra Singh Goyal. According to reports, Sonia married Shiv against her family's wishes. It is worth noting that he was already married and had a child before marrying Sonia. After marrying Shiv, Sonia became not only an actress but also a queen mother. She was very happy with her life, but in 1990, her husband passed away, and her life took a turbulent turn. In one of her interviews, she said that her husband's death felt like a curse because after his passing, Shiv's family began to resent her. Eventually, Sonia started spending her time at a school for mentally challenged children. Hema Malini was jealous of Sonia Sahni In an interview, Sonia revealed, 'Hema Malini would take panga with me. She didn't like me though I was not saying, 'Talk to me' or 'Be friends with me'. I think Dharmendra was paying a little extra attention to me and she didn't like it.'

Govinda's Wife Sunita Ahuja Slams His Career Choices: ‘Wasting Time, Not Losing Weight'

Last Updated: Govinda's wife Sunita Ahuja calls him out for not working, refusing to lose weight, and living in the past while fans still miss him on screen. Govinda, one of Bollywood's most beloved stars, has been missing from the big screen for quite some time now. While fans eagerly await his return, his wife Sunita Ahuja has spoken about the reasons behind his absence, and she isn't holding back. In a recent chat with Instant Bollywood, Sunita revealed that while she rarely fights with Govinda, she does get upset about one particular issue—his lack of work. 'I never fight with Govinda about anything, only about one thing. Go work. The public is missing you," she said bluntly. Sunita shared that while the actor is now considering producing his own films, she's not entirely on board with his vision. 'He is now thinking of making his own films. But I don't want him to make movies like the 90s. That era is over. Today's subjects… you see where cinema is going today. I want him to watch Netflix, OTT, and see what's trending." She didn't hold back while talking about his health either. 'I tell him to lose weight. He should lose at least 20 kilos," she said, recalling how Govinda once promised to return with a physique like Sylvester Stallone's. 'I told him, I don't think that's happening in this lifetime, and in the next life, I don't want you as my husband. I want you as my son." Sunita also blamed those in Govinda's inner circle for his career stagnation. 'You're wasting your time because of the Yes-men around you. They aren't teaching you good things," she said, adding that he continues to surround himself with the wrong kind of people—unknown music directors and writers—and refuses to adapt to modern-day filmmaking. 'He gets angry that I speak the truth to his face," she concluded. 'But you are not giving me money, so why should I flatter you? I am not here to flatter anyone." First Published:

Dipshikkha Nagppal Says Shah Rukh Khan Was 'Rude' To Her On Koyla Sets: 'It Hurt My Ego'

For many who grew up watching Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Shah Rukh Khan wasn't just a movie star — he was the ultimate romantic hero. Actor Dipshikkha Nagppal was no different. She recently opened up about her experience of working with SRK for the first time, and how his behaviour on set left her both hurt and determined. Speaking to Instant Bollywood, Dipshikkha recalled that she was completely smitten by SRK's on-screen persona when she joined the cast of Rakesh Roshan's 1997 action film Koyla. 'When Shah Rukh came, he was smoking. So Rakesh ji came in and said, 'Do you know Dipshikkha?' He said, 'She is a fantastic actress.' Rakesh ji was very impressed with me. Shah Rukh said, 'Yeah, let's see.' It hurt my ego. He was so rude. I was like, 'This is Shah Rukh. I love him.' Then I took it as a challenge." She remembered how nervous she felt before filming her first scene with the superstar. 'My first scene was that I am dying in his arms. So I was nervous wondering how it will happen," she shared. Though the scene was eventually removed from the final cut, it stayed with her. 'I remember the scene. I can still smell his aura." Despite the awkward start, Dipshikkha revealed that their professional relationship evolved positively over time. 'Ratan Jain (producer) told me after Baadshah that Shah Rukh recommended my name. Shah Rukh never revealed it. That's his greatness." She noted that while they became friendly during future projects, she always remained focused on her work. 'Later, we became friends but I would only pay attention to my work. I would work with dedication and maybe, he noticed that but he recommended me for Baadshah. I didn't know that." Reflecting on the turning point in her career, Dipshikkha said, 'I said, 'Thank you, Shah Rukh that you said let's see' because had he not said it, then maybe I wouldn't be in that film." Dipshikkha, who has starred in films like Partner, Jaanam Samjha Karo, and Dillagi, was most recently seen in the legal drama web series Raisinghani VS Raisinghani and the TV show Ishq Jabariya. Her early experience with Shah Rukh Khan left a lasting impression—one that shaped her work ethic and determination in the industry.
