Celltrion secures direct sales of cancer treatment in Spain
Following the conclusion of its partnership with former distributor Kern Pharma, Celltrion's Spanish subsidiary will now manage local operations independently, directly distributing three oncology drugs: Truxima (rituximab), Herzuma (trastuzumab), and Vegzelma (bevacizumab).
This strategic move follows a successful tender win from CSC, a major procurement consortium serving 25 public hospitals in Catalonia. Under the agreement, Celltrion will supply Truxima and Herzuma to CSC from 2025 through 2029.
Building on its local market experience since 2018, Celltrion has reinforced its distribution network and built strong stakeholder relationships to support this transition. According to health care analytics firm IQVIA, Truxima and Herzuma achieved market shares of 23 percent and 22 percent, respectively, ranking among the top prescribed treatments in the third quarter of 2024 in Spain.
In Portugal, Celltrion has also completed its direct sales transition, launching Stekima and securing a national tender covering approximately 60 percent of the market in its first year.

Delska's New 10MW Data Center in Latvia Achieves Tier III Design Certification
RIGA, Latvia, Aug. 19, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Northern European data center operator Delska's upcoming facility, EU North Riga LV DC1, has been awarded the prestigious Uptime Institute Tier III Design Certification—an important milestone ahead of its planned launch at the end of this year. Once operational, it will be one of the greenest data centers in the Baltic region. The Tier III Design certification ensures the facility meets strict standards for redundancy, safety, and uninterrupted service, guaranteeing 99.982% uptime. "In a world where even a few seconds of downtime can cost thousands, Tier III means our infrastructure stays online—even during planned maintenance," said Delska CEO Andris Gailitis. Addressing power shortages in major European hubs, the 10 MW site, offering up to 250 kW per rack, is built for next-generation workloads, including AI and high-performance computing (HPC). Its modular 6,000 m² layout is fully scalable, with the ability to expand the data center campus site up to 30 MW. Sustainability is at the core of the design. The facility will run entirely on 100% wind energy, with backup generators powered by Neste MY renewable diesel. Targeting a PUE of just 1.3, it will use advanced free-cooling systems, hot-aisle containment, an effective Weiss Technik wall cooling system and Trane Turbocor-based chillers. It supports both air cooling and high-density direct-to-chip cooling. Delska also aims for LEED green building certification, an achievement held by fewer than 15 buildings in Latvia. Upon completion, LV DC1 will undergo Tier III Facility certification to confirm its construction and operations meet the same high standard as its design. This will be Delska's third Tier III-certified data center and sixth overall, joining two Tier III Facility-certified sites in Lithuania. Plans include an additional Lithuanian data center and another facility in the region, strengthening Delska's Baltic data centers' network. About Delska Delska is one of the largest data center operators in the Baltics, with over 26 years in IT and network infrastructure. Operating fully green Tier III and PCI-DSS certified facilities in Riga and Vilnius with 19 MW capacity, Delska also maintains points of presence in Frankfurt, Amsterdam, and Stockholm. KHNP denied access to power plant projects in N. America, Europe under Westinghouse deal: sources
The state-run Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) has been prohibited from bidding for new power plant projects in North America and the European Union (EU), excluding the Czech Republic, and other countries under its agreement with US energy firm Westinghouse over an intellectual property (IP) dispute, industry sources said Tuesday. Under the agreement signed in January, the KHNP is only allowed to sign fresh deals in the Philippines, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Morocco, Egypt, Brazil, Argentina, Jordan, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and South Africa, according to the sources. But the Korean company is banned from bidding for new nuclear power plant deals in North America and Britain, Japan, Ukraine and EU nations, except for the Czech Republic. The KHNP and Westinghouse signed the settlement deal in January this year after the latter accused the Korean firm of infringing on its IP, claiming the KHNP's APR 1000 and APR1400 plant designs utilize its licensed technology. The deal removed a major hurdle for the KHNP-led Korean consortium to sign a final contract in June, with an estimated value of 26 trillion won, to build two nuclear power units in the Czech Republic. The Czech deal, which marked South Korea's first overseas nuclear power plant contract since 2009, was initially expected to open new doors for Korean firms seeking business opportunities in Europe. Earlier in the day, KHNP President Whang Joo-ho confirmed his company has closed operations in Poland amid speculations that its deal with Westinghouse influenced the decision. Poland is the fourth European country where the KHNP confirmed its business closure, following Sweden, Slovenia and the Netherlands. "After the new Polish administration took office ... the country decided to drop the state-owned enterprise projects (in the nuclear power sector) ... and that is why we withdrew our business there," Whang said during a meeting with the parliamentary industry committee. It also reportedly includes a condition requiring Korean companies to pass the latter's technology independence verification when independently developing and exporting next-generation nuclear reactors. The 50-year deal is also said to include provisions requiring the KHNP to sign a goods and services purchase contract worth about $650 million with Westinghouse per export of a single nuclear reactor, and to pay $175 million per reactor in technology licensing fees. Asked whether the KHNP believes the deal with Westinghouse was fair, Whang said, "As the party accepting the terms, I cannot say it was fair," but added, "I believe it is something we can endure and still make a profit from." Whang refused to confirm the details of the deal, citing a nondisclosure agreement. Earlier in the day, the presidential office said it has ordered the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to review whether the deal was signed under due process. (Yonhap)

Upstage teams up with AWS for global AI expansion
South Korean AI startup Upstage said it is teaming up with Amazon Web Services to expand into Asia-Pacific and US markets, while enhancing its Solar large language model to make high-performance, low-cost generative AI more accessible. Under the agreement, Upstage designated AWS as its preferred cloud provider and will use its infrastructure to build, train and deploy foundation models, the company said. It will leverage AWS' machine learning stack — including Amazon SageMaker as well as Trainium and Inferentia chips — to power Solar, and its AI-based document processing suite, Upstage added. As part of their expanded strategic partnership, Upstage also received a minority equity investment from Amazon, marking the first time the company has attracted direct funding from the US tech giant. The size of the investment was not disclosed. "We are pleased to support the next stage of Upstage's growth as it expands its Solar foundation model and document intelligence solutions," said Abhijeet Muzumdar, vice president of corporate development at Amazon. "By backing visionary companies like Upstage, we aim to foster continued innovation in generative AI." Upstage has long collaborated with AWS, training its Solar model on SageMaker and implementing the proprietary Depth-Up Scaling method on AWS infrastructure to improve performance. Its Solar lineup is currently offered via Amazon Bedrock Marketplace, SageMaker JumpStart and AWS Marketplace, the company explained. "Upstage and AWS have built a strong foundation through years of collaboration, and this agreement marks a new chapter in our shared vision to accelerate global AI innovation," said Upstage CEO Kim Sung-hoon. "Through this strategic partnership, we will expand our reach and deliver safe, intelligent and high-performance AI solutions to more public institutions." The company also said its "AI Initiative," launched in April, is also part of the collaboration with AWS. The program is designed to accelerate the adoption of generative AI by educational institutions and non-profit organizations, with more than 200 institutions, including Seoul National University and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology.
