Beautiful white sand beach is one of 'best in Europe' with crystal-clear waters
A breathtaking beach is already hailed as one of the best in Europe, and now it's also been tipped as a must-visit for Brits looking for swim-friendly waters.
Tropea in Italy is no hidden gem, and it's not difficult to see why it's been crowned a must-visit this summer. If you were going to put a picture of a beach on a postcard, Tropea ticks all of the boxes. White sands? Check. Crystal-clear waters? Check. Breathtaking surroundings for those all-important Instagram backdrops? Check.
The Blue Flag beach is free to visit, but it can get quite busy during the peak summer months because it's popular with both locals and tourists. As for those inviting turquoise waters, you can hire the likes of pedalos in the area to go exploring, or join one of the many boat trips that take you along that ridiculously pretty Italian coast.
As for back on the fine sands, you can hire sunloungers and umbrellas, not to mention that there are plenty of restaurants and shops just a short walk away. The gorgeous beach is also currently rated as one of the top 10 in Europe, taking eighth place in the rankings on Tripadvisor, based on visitors' reviews.
One happy holidaymaker wrote of their stay: "Wonderful place, always clean and clear water (so much so that you could see the fish). We rented a pedal boat to go a little 'offshore' and enjoy the enchanting sea of Tropea and we are not disappointed. Enchanted!"
Another added: "The downside is the need to climb stairs from the city to the beach and back. But in Calabria, it's inevitable. Pros are much more: a beautiful coast, with bays and relatively low tourist occupancy, crystal clear water, a clean groomed beach, wonderful views and beautiful sunsets."
If you are planning to take a dip, you'll likely get to enjoy water temperatures averaging 26.3C, according to new research from Iglu Cruise. In fact, their experts have named Tropea as the best beach in Italy when it came to rankings of where to go for a dip, and enjoy glorious sun-soaked weather.
The travel insiders explained: "Often regarded as one of the best beaches in Italy (according to Tripadvisor), Tropea Beach is another location where you can find warm sea temperatures that are perfect for swimming in the summer. Views from the beach are spectacular, with surrounding cliffs causing a natural barrier to the wind. If you're looking for azure blue waters and white sand, this might be the beach for you."
It wasn't just Tropea that impressed. In fact, overall it came fifth in the rankings, with Konyaaltı Plajları in Turkey taking the top spot, with waters boasting average temperatures of 27.8C. You can check out the full top 10 list below...

15 of the best valued theme parks in the UK to visit during the 2025 summer holidays
The thrill of making the journey to one of the numerous theme parks across the United Kingdom is still one of the most exciting things to feel growing up and being on summer holidays. But they aren't as cheap as they used to be - or is that really the case? VIP Grinders, analysed 47 theme parks across the UK to determine which provides visitors with the best experience for the most affordable price The study examined various factors, including online ticket prices, number of rides and attractions, review ratings, and the number of good value-related terms in customer reviews to create an overall score out of 100 for each park. These results were then used to create a ranking of the best to worst value theme parks in the UK. To determine the UK's best value theme parks, 283 UK-based theme parks were sourced from Tripadvisor. This initial pool was then refined by removing parks with fewer than 1,000 reviews and those that did not align with the definition of a traditional theme park, resulting in a final selection of 47 theme parks for detailed analysis. For each of these 47 theme parks, data was meticulously collected across 11 distinct factors, each assigned a specific weighting to reflect its importance in assessing value for money. These factors included: Tripadvisor Rating (8.0%), Google Rating (8.0%), the percentage of Tripadvisor reviews containing terms such as "bargain," "cheap," "deal," "free," and "value" (3.0% each for these five terms), Number of Rides (30.0%), Number of Attractions (15.0%), Day Ticket Price (15.0%), and Annual Pass Price (9.0%). A scoring system was then applied, with each theme park evaluated out of a maximum of 100 points based on its performance across these weighted criteria. Parks achieving higher scores were subsequently identified as offering superior value for money. So, what are the 15 best value for money theme parks to attend these summer holidays? 1 . The island's name is a Spanish spelling of a Taíno and it has the nickname Isla Nena, usually translated as "girl island" or "little girl island", alluding to it being as Puerto Rico's little sister. Vieques is known for its untouched beaches and its wildlife refuge, which is the largest in the Caribbean. The island has over 15 beaches which have both white and black sand bays. Some of the most popular are Playa La Chiva (Blue Beach) and Playa Caracas (Red Beach) which are consistently ranked as top choices by visitors . There are lots of wild horses on the island, the number of free-roaming horses, is estimated to be between 2,000 and 6,000. The horses are descendants of those brought by Spanish conquistadors in the 16th century. Vieques is also home to Mosquito Bay, the brightest bioluminescent bay in the world, and holds the Guinness World Record for it. It's nicknamed 'bio bay' by locals and gets its bright lights produced by living organisms in the ocean. To see the bioluminescence in the bay, you have to visit after dark. And for maximum effect, it's advisable to go during the dry season from December to April. Underrated Caribbean Sunshine island Aruba is perfect for beach getaway There are many tour operators around Mosquito Bay that will take groups kayaking on a glass-bottom boat to see the phenomenon, and it's well worth the visit according to travellers. One wrote on Tripadvisor: "The bay is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen; it shone brightly. It's a dream you have to live the experience because it's unique."
