Victoria Justice opens up about death threats after ‘We all sing' meme with Ariana Grande went viral

Express Tribune15-05-2025
Victoria Justice has spoken out about the long-term impact of a viral meme that stemmed from an old interview clip involving her Victorious castmates and Ariana Grande.
The comment, made when Justice was a teenager, became a running joke online and fuelled years of speculation about behind-the-scenes tensions.
The meme originated from a 2017 clip in which the cast discussed who sang most off-camera. After Liz Gillies and Daniella Monet praised Grande's vocal habits, Justice added, 'I think we all sing.' The remark quickly spread on social media and was widely interpreted as a sign of rivalry, despite Justice repeatedly denying any conflict.
Now, in 2025, Justice has revealed how deeply the online backlash affected her. Speaking on Mythical Kitchen's Last Meals, she described receiving death threats and feeling publicly hated. 'There was a time for so long on the internet where I felt like people hated me,' she said. 'I got so much hate, dude. I got death threats.' She also shared how the experience impacted her mother, who was distressed by the online hostility directed at her daughter.
Justice reflected on how the meme took on a life of its own, saying, 'It's factual. We did all sing, OK? What do you want from me?!' Although once overwhelmed by the online narrative, she now views the incident with humour and distance. 'Now I think it's funny. I'm in on the joke. I even say it to myself all the time,' she said.
She added that she and Ariana Grande exchanged messages to clarify misunderstandings, stating the narrative of jealousy is no longer relevant. Justice is now focused on her current projects, including the upcoming film California King, and said she approaches her career with more self-awareness and humour.

Justin Bieber drops scenic ‘First Place' music video

Justin Bieber has given fans a behind-the-scenes look at his creative world with the release of the music video for 'First Place'. Filmed in striking black-and-white by director Rory Kramer, the clip takes viewers on a journey to Iceland, where Bieber trades city chaos for the tranquillity of the mountains. The video captures the pop star in an intimate recording session inside a secluded cabin, surrounded by a small group of collaborators. Between takes, Bieber is seen enjoying the natural beauty around him, walking along lakes, sitting quietly on a rooftop to admire the view, and snowboarding across the Icelandic landscape. One memorable moment sees Bieber strip down to his white boxer briefs for a nighttime swim, visibly shivering as he emerges from the cold water. With his trademark sense of humour, he addressed the scene in the video's YouTube caption, telling fans to 'FORGIVE MY CHICKEN LEGS'. 'First Place' reflects on the highs and lows of a relationship, with lyrics about returning to familiar places despite ups and downs. The track appears on Bieber's latest album Swag, his first since 2021's Justice. Produced alongside Carter Lang, Dylan Wiggins, Daniel Caesar, Dijon, Daniel Chetrit, Eddie Benjamin, Knox Fortune, and more, the record fuses personal themes with an eclectic mix of guest appearances. The album features collaborations with Gunna, Dijon, Lil B, Sexyy Red, Cash Cobain, Eddie Benjamin, and comedian Druski. Inspired by Bieber's life as a husband and father, Swag debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, reaffirming his status as one of pop's most consistent chart performers. 'First Place' follows earlier singles 'Daises' and 'Yukon', and the video's warm reception online shows that Bieber's combination of vulnerability and artistry continues to resonate with fans.

Halle Berry marks 59th birthday with subtle clap back at ex-husband David Justice's remarks

Halle Berry has responded to comments made by her ex-husband David Justice, who recently claimed she was not 'motherly' during their marriage in the 1990s. The Oscar-winning actress marked her 59th birthday with a series of holiday photographs on Instagram, accompanied by the caption: 'Phew...! cooking, cleaning and mothering.' The post was widely interpreted as a pointed reply to Justice's remarks. Justice, a former Major League Baseball player, discussed the couple's divorce on Matt Barnes' All The Smoke podcast. He explained that at the time he held traditional views of marriage, influenced by his upbringing in the Midwest. 'My knowledge and my understanding, my wisdom around relationships just wasn't vast. So, I'm looking at my mum — and I'm a Midwest guy. So, in my mind, I'm thinking a wife at that time should cook, clean, [be] traditional, you know?' He went on to suggest Berry did not fit that image. 'Then I'm thinking, 'OK, if we have kids, is this the woman I want to have kids with and build a family with?' At that time, as a young guy — she don't cook, don't clean, don't really seem like motherly, and then we start having issues.' Berry and Justice met in 1992 and married the following year after Berry proposed. Their relationship ended in divorce in 1997. Berry later married singer Eric Benét in 2001, divorcing in 2005, and French actor Olivier Martinez in 2013, finalising their split in 2023 after years of legal proceedings.

David Justice reveals surprising reason he questioned marriage to Halle Berry just months after wedding

David Justice has shared new details about his divorce from actress Halle Berry, speaking candidly during an appearance on the All the Smoke podcast on August 7. The former MLB player, 59, said the couple began facing challenges about five months after their 1993 wedding. He recalled questioning whether their lifestyles aligned as he thought about starting a family. 'If we have kids, is this the woman I want to have kids with and build a family with?' Justice said. 'At that time… she don't cook, don't clean, don't really seem like motherly, and then we start having issues.' Justice explained that his expectations were shaped by his Midwest upbringing, where he envisioned a 'traditional' spouse. He admitted that his understanding of relationships at the time was limited, and that his decision to marry Berry — who proposed after just five months of dating — may have been made without deep reflection. The former Atlanta Braves outfielder noted that their careers often kept them apart while Berry filmed movies in different countries. Looking back, he believes counseling could have made a difference. 'If we knew about therapy, we probably could have made it,' he said, adding there were no 'major issues' beyond their differences and his inexperience. Justice left the marriage in 1996, and the couple divorced the following year. He later married Rebecca Villalobos Justice in 2001 and is now a father of three. Berry, 58, has not publicly responded to Justice's latest remarks. She has previously addressed public speculation about her relationships, telling The Drew Barrymore Show in February that she is unwilling to 'keep the wrong man' and believes people have the right to leave relationships that aren't working. Berry is currently engaged to musician Van Hunt.
