Designers from London, Birmingham, Glasgow, and beyond brought their finest works—but beyond the exquisite craftsmanship, it was the stories woven into the fabric that resonated most.
One of the evening's defining moments came from Joel Baraza, a young gospel musician and student at St Helens College in Merseyside, who made his fashion show debut with an electrifying performance. Blending Afrobeat rhythms with contemporary gospel, his voice—powerful, evocative, and unshakably sincere—turned a musical set into an emotionally charged journey that left the audience spellbound.

Nowadays I am just happy to try something new as long as it is genuine, as good taste does get subjective when looking at food with a global lens. Describing her style of cooking, she said: 'My cooking style is all about simple, wholesome dishes that highlight seasonal Scottish and Italian ingredients. As I have navigated through different stages of my life, my style of cooking has remained the same in that I love to use fresh, seasonal Scottish produce to create simple and elegant dishes. 'I am extremely proud of my Scottish heritage and my dishes demonstrate a passion for Scotland's beautiful produce. I love making dishes that bring a sense of warmth to the table and make my family and friends smile.' 'Italian or French cuisines are my favourite. I love the simplicity of Italian food and the traditional process of French. Growing up in the countryside has also made me appreciate local British food especially fish and game.' Victoria, 47, - Middlesbrough Lawyer Victoria lives in Middlesbrough with her long-term partner Chris and their sausage dog Luigi. She grew up in Hull and went to university in Derby and then Sheffield - she worked in the city for a number of years in her 20s and early 30s. 'I like to have fun with food and add the odd presentation gimmick or unexpected ingredient. Refining any dish can leave room for error, but I find so much the technical aspects. I'm able to use various techniques I've developed while staying true to the flavours of any specific dish from any part of the world. I'm very particular with my methods and based on feedback from people I've fed, it's worked out well for me so far.' Gabriele, 32 - London Tax Advisor Gabriele lives in London with his wife Silvia and their cat Augusto. He was born in La Spezia, Italy, and grew up in Italy. Discussing his style of cooking, Gabriele said: 'I love cooking traditional Italian recipes. Keeping it simple and not overloading a dish is my credo. I enjoy creating new dishes from scratch, starting with basic elements and building them step by step, without compromising the integrity of the main ingredient. I pay special attention to fresh herbs, not just as a garnish, but as a way to enhance and elevate the flavours of the dish.' Hannah, 38 - Brighton Mortgage Broker Hannah lives in Brighton with her four-year-old son. She was born and grew up in Shoreham-By-Sea. Speaking about her cooking style, she explained: 'My cooking style is insane! There is nothing I don't cook, my cooking swings from delicate French patisserie to robust fiery curries – depending on whatever I fancy eating. 'As a single mum, money is tight, so if I want to try a food I haven't had before I have to make it myself. Most people know me for my baking and desserts though – purely because that is probably where my strengths lie and I'm always called upon to make everyone's birthday cakes.' Mark was widowed in September 2022 after being with his wife, Jane, for over 40 years. Jane died very suddenly whilst they were on holiday in the USA the day after her 62nd birthday. Speaking about his style of cooking, Mark said: 'My style of cooking is easy going. I don't profess to be a genuine chef but really enjoy cooking for myself and others. 'Enjoy it', I say to my guests, because it won't be the same next time. 'Having said that, I do like to try different food types from plain, wholesome cottage pie to Indonesian Nasi Goreng with lots of other food types in between. I do tend to veer down the pan-Asian route - inspired by my father's cooking, who was influenced during WW2 and when he spent time in the Far East.' Sophie, 25 - London Assistant Colourist in Post Production Sophie lives in London with her best friend Mara and border terrier Stanley. Her boyfriend Charlie lives in Manchester. I didn't stop eating meat because I didn't like it, I just didn't want to eat animals anymore. I still cook meat for friends and family, I just don't eat it myself. I love recreating the textures and flavours of meaty dishes in a way that still excites the palate. 'Beautiful, fresh, seasonal ingredients are usually the stars of my dishes. Plants are incredibly diverse, and I love showcasing what they can do. If you think about it, it's usually the ingredients around the meat that make a dish exciting. A plain steak might be nice, but it's the celeriac miso purée, sticky glazed carrot, and rich jus that really elevate the plate. 'I love to experiment with different cuisines, and I love food stories and origins, so trying dishes from difference cultures and hearing about where they come from and the stories behind the dishes.' Yen, 38 - Carlisle Data scientist Yen lives in Carlisle with her husband and two rescue dogs, Lilu and Morpheus. She was born and grew up in Vietnam, she also spent a lot of time in Thailand and Laos in her early years. Speaking about her food, Yen said: 'My cooking style is exciting and beautifully presented, often featuring local ingredients prepared in a modern way with global flavours and spices. I also enjoy the discipline of recreating recipes from renowned chefs. 'At home, we have a library which includes over 100 cookbooks covering chefs and cuisines from around the world. From plant-based to home curing and sourdough bread baking, these books are a great source of inspiration to me. I enjoy exploring and revisiting various cuisines, always eager to learn new dishes.' How many people make it to the quarter-finals? The amateur cooks who take part in the heats will be hoping to make it all the way to the quarter-finals on Friday (August 15). Just three of the chefs from each heat will make it through to the next round - with six facing the critics at the end of the week. Vicki hits 'tragic' pervert Joel with a very serious warning in EastEnders
Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) has issued her final warning to sick Joel Marshall (Max Murray) in EastEnders. It's about time that somebody shuts down his disgusting behaviour once and for all – but with Ross (Alex Walkinshaw) reluctant to turn his back on his son, he's pretty much been given free reign to do whatever he wants. In tonight's episode, however, Vicki swore to put a stop to that. She can see that her partner is effectively enabling Joel's vile ways, and won't stand for it any longer. Soon after his arrival, we discovered that Joel had upskirted a pupil in his class, and her family had ordered him to leave Australia in exchange for their silence. They'd also accepted a hefty $50,000 sum. The teen showed no signs of changing – recording himself sleeping with Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James), and introducing Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall) to pornography. He then showed his new mate videos from an influencer, who spoke about women in a derogatory manner. The lads skived off school to take a trip into The City. On their journey home, Joel demanded Tommy whip out his phone and record something shocking. He stumbled through the carriage, falling onto a girl and touching her inappropriately. Later, Vicki met up with the victim and handed her £2,000 in exchange for her silence. In the aftermath, despite promising to do better, Joel has tore strips off Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) and Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), before seemingly leaking the latter's SecretCam content online. This came just days after Ross snapped branded his son a 'disgusting little pervert.' With the police reluctant to investigate, this couldn't be proved – but Stace' is adamant that he's responsible. Joel spiralled further after learning that Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James) had aborted their unborn child, and attempted to slap her. A furious Vicki charged in his way, and dragged him home. He reeled off a number of sick ideologies, including his belief that reproduction is the purpose of womanhood. She begged him to open his eyes and wondered if he looked at her any different having not had any children herself. In a truly horrifying move, he asserted that if she pushes him further, she'd find out that a 'proper slapping would do [her] the world of good.' In tonight's episode, Joel goaded Stacey, spelling it out to her that he was responsible for leaking her content and didn't care about the consequences for her. EastEnders newcomer Max Murray has only been on Albert Square for a short time, but his character Joel Marshall has been causing nothing but trouble. Since his arrival in Walford, viewers have discovered that Joel's behaviour in Australia was what caused the family's money troubles, leading them to move back to the UK. It transpired that Joel had taken a picture up one of his class mates' skirts, before sharing the photo online. Joel's dad Ross Marshall (Alex Walkinshaw) paid the family off, but they demanded that Joel stay away from Sydney. Unfortunately, the move to Albert Square hasn't changed Joel's vile behaviour, and he was recently caught filming himself sleeping with Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James). Horrified that Joel had slept with his daughter, Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) lashed out at him, and that was without any knowledge of the secret recording. The character often expresses proof that he's been influenced by 'incel culture'. An incel is a member of an online community of young men. They consider themselves unable to attract woman sexually and have views that are often hostile towards women, and men who are sexually active. Joel has also been seen watching videos from a misogynistic influencer online. The last time Ross discovered Joel was continuing to view them, he threw his laptop in the sink and poured water over it. As he branded him a 'revolting, arrogant, disgusting little pervert', Joel pleaded for forgiveness. In real life, Max isn't the only member of his family to appear in the BBC soap, with the youngster following in the footsteps of his famous mum. Max is the son of actress and singer Gina Murray, who has had an extensive career on stage and screen. Gina appeared in an episode of EastEnders in 2014, where she played a woman called Helen. Helen was a specialist who arrived to help Carol Jackson find a wig after losing her hair during her battle with cancer. As well as EastEnders, Gina has also appeared on The Bill and Doctors, and more recently starred as Lesley Stobbart in The Hunt for Raoul Moat. She has also voiced characters in numerous video games, including RoboCop: Rogue City and Baldur's Gate 3. On stage, Gina has starred in musicals such as Hairspray, Mamma Mia andChicago, among others. In 2010, she formed a girl group alongside her fellow West End star sister Mazz Murray.
