It wouldn't be summer without The Summer I Turned Pretty. Based on Jenny Han's third book in the trilogy, the final season begins with Belly (Lola Tung) in a long-term relationship with Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). As they grow up and their lives start to get more complicated, Belly must decide if Jeremiah really is "the one," or if Conrad (Christopher Briney) still has her heart.
I'm personally really going to miss this cast once the season ends. Also, as someone who grew up on Twilight and The Vampire Diaries AND One Tree Hill, love triangles are just essential to teen TV, and this one feels like a return to those days. So, just to be clear, I cannot wait for another summer where I defend Conrad Fisher with my life.
I Know What You Did Last Summer — watch for: Madelyn Cline's scream queen era.

Yes, Superman, Fantastic Four: First Steps, and Jurassic World Rebirth are the big summer movies right now, but I Know What You Did Last Summer deserves to be included in that conversation. Like Scream (2022), I Know What You Did Last Summer is a legacy sequel that follows a new group of friends who start receiving mysterious notes a year after covering up a fatal car accident.
Directed and written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who is behind Sweet/Vicious, Someone Great, and Do Revenge, this movie brings all the fun from the original, even paying homage to it in several ways, while adding its own flair. While it's far from perfect, the new cast is so entrancing on screen together, especially Madelyn Cline and Sarah Pidgeon, who prove why they're two of the most in-demand young actors right now.
Too Much — watch for: Meg Stalter's comedic timing

Created by Lena Dunham, Too Much follows Jessica (Megan Stalter), a 30-something New York workaholic reeling from a major breakup. Unable to escape her past relationship, she takes a job in London and swears off love — that is, until she meets Felix (Will Sharpe), who is a series of red flags, but their connection is impossible to ignore.
If you love Meg from Hacks, it's worth watching this one to see her front and center in this romantic comedy. Plus, her chemistry with Will is excellent. What really makes this worth watching is Dunham's writing, as it feels like a welcome return to her witty banter from Girls, just set in the present-day dating world. Oh, also, the guest stars are awesome. Like, Andrew Scott, hello, sir!

Question: Which Grey's Anatomy death is the LEAST sad for you?
Picking the Grey's Anatomy death that wrecked me the most is easy: Lexie Grey. But, this makes it a little more interesting because I had to think about characters I've not liked. And, let's be real, this would be easy to answer if Grey's had ever killed off Owen Hunt. And since that is not seemingly happening any time soon, my answer for this one is Reed. She died during the hospital shooting in part one of the Season 6 finale (which was actually the first episode I ever watched live), and I was honestly thankful. Again, I think I hated her because she had a one-night stand with Mark, and if it wasn't clear before, I would die for Lexie Grey.

Freddie Prinze Jr. reflected on the secret behind his 23-year marriage to actress Sarah Michelle Gellar. During a recent interview with Variety, the 49-year-old actor candidly opened up about how he and Gellar, 48, have kept their relationship strong in Hollywood. "Marriage is hard no matter what business you're in," the "She's All That" star said. "What works for us might not work for everyone else." He continued, "We work at it. I'm not perfect. She's not perfect. We piss each other off, but we respect one another. We were friends first." "Maybe that's the secret? It wasn't just "Oh, she's hot, he's hot — let's hook up," he added. "But I know people who've done it the other way, and their relationships are just as strong as mine." Gellar and Prinze Jr. first met while filming the hit 1997 horror movie "I Know What You Did Last Summer." However, sparks didn't immediately fly between the two. In a 2001 interview with People, Prinze Jr. admitted that the future couple "really didn't dig each other" at first. "Then one day I gave her a ride to the gym," he said. "We talked on the way up, and she was a cool chick." The pair became friends, but their relationship didn't turn romantic until three years later. During a joint interview with People Now in 2020, Gellar and Prinze Jr. explained how they accidentally went on a first date. "We were friends for a very long time. We'd had many dinners before. And we were supposed to go with someone else, and the third person didn't make it out and we decided to still go," the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" alum recalled. "We were just two people at dinner catching up," Gellar continued. "We had a long car ride and a long dinner and things just happened." Prinze Jr. told the outlet that he completely lost interest in seeing other women after his first date with Gellar. "I didn't go on dates with other girls, nor did I even want to pursue dates with other girls," he said. The couple announced their engagement in 2001 and tied the knot a year later in Mexico when Gellar was 24 and Prinze was 26. Prinze Jr. and Gellar, who also co-starred in 2002's "Scooby-Doo" and the 2004 sequel "Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed," welcomed their first child, daughter Charlotte Grace, in 2009. In 2012, Gellar gave birth to their son, Rocky James. While speaking with Variety, Prinze Jr. explained how he treasured his family life with Gellar and their children. Netflix is about to remove a dark psychological thriller movie that captures the crushing pressure of perfectionism. "The Novice" may have been overlooked since its 2021 release, but it's one that absolutely deserves more attention. The story follows a college freshman who joins her university's rowing team with fierce determination, despite having little experience. As she pushes herself harder and harder to make the varsity crew, you'll witness the physical and emotional struggles that come with striving for such an elusive spot. If you love psychological thrillers that don't hold back, this one will probably linger in your mind for quite some time. It's a slow-burn that might make you wince, all anchored by a mesmerizing lead performance that brings the character's struggles to life. But this intense story won't be available on Netflix for much longer as it leaves on July 25. Those who want to experience a thriller that's both powerful and haunting, don't wait. Here's why this dark psychological thriller deserves your attention before it leaves the streaming service. 'The Novice' follows Alex Dall (Isabelle Fuhrman), a determined college freshman who joins her university's competitive rowing team. Though new to the sport, Alex immediately sets her sights on making the varsity crew, despite having little experience. She throws herself into grueling training sessions, pushing her body beyond its limits. Her relentless drive quickly puts her at odds with teammates and coaches, who question her methods and the toll it takes on her health. As the season unfolds, Alex isolates herself, neglecting friendships and ignoring warning signs of exhaustion and injury. The movie chronicles her intense daily routine — early mornings on the water, punishing workouts, and mental battles to keep up with more seasoned athletes. Alex's single-minded focus causes mounting tension in the team dynamics, testing loyalties and resolve. I decided to give 'The Novice' a chance when I saw it had the 'leaving soon' tag on Netflix, and I'm glad I did, because this psychological thriller ended up being a huge surprise. That's exactly why I feel like I have to write about it, so more people don't miss out. Lauren Hadaway's debut blurs the lines between sports drama, psychological thriller, and character study. It follows college freshman Alex Dall as she throws herself headfirst into her university's rowing team at a fictional Northeastern school. Like everything else in her life, Alex tackles rowing with a fierce determination to earn her place even if it means pushing herself past every limit, breaking expectations, and taking a serious toll on both her body and mind. As she trains harder, she begins to see teammates and friendships as distractions, first training alone, then later fighting for her spot once the crew is fully formed. Fuhrman, who's been carving out a name for herself in the horror world, delivers what might be her best performance yet. She completely disappears into the role, matching Alex's intensity every step of the way. You believe her because she brings the same raw drive and stubborn focus to the performance that the character lives and breathes. Plus, rowing rarely gets much screen time, which immediately makes 'The Novice' feel fresh. While sports dramas are common, this one refuses to follow the usual feel-good victory path. Instead, it leans hard into psychological tension, giving the story a much darker tone. Aside from the central performance, one of the standout elements for me was the incredible sound design. At times, it's disorienting listening to every breath and oar stroke, even uncomfortable, but that's the whole point. You can tell the director has a background in sound as it's used so intentionally. You don't need to take my word for it either. 'The Novice' has an impressive rating of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, with audiences scoring it slightly lower at 70%. The site's critics consensus reads: 'A remarkable first feature for writer-director Lauren Hadaway, The Novice paints a thrilling and disturbing portrait of obsession.' And I have to agree with this statement. 'The Novice' might not have made a huge splash when it first dropped, but I'm hoping it will find another streaming home and gain an audience there. If you're into psychological thrillers that aren't afraid to get a little messy, this is one you won't want to miss. And with it leaving Netflix soon, now's the perfect time to watch. I'd watch it for the sound design alone. Stream "The Novice" on Netflix until July 25.

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle mocked for second time in ‘Family Guy' episode: ‘Like all of your wives are so much better?'
'Family Guy' is at it again. The animated show mocked Prince Harry and Meghan Markle a second time in its most recent episode, two years after it first took a jab at the royal couple. Advertisement In the July 17 episode, 'Twain's World,' in which characters Brian and Stewie (both voiced by creator Seth MacFarlane) travel back in time, the talking dog compares the couple to some of history's worst events. After Stewie warns Brian that taking a certain action while traveling through the past could 'change the course of history,' Brian answers, 'You always say that, but doesn't history pretty much suck?' Then, using the comedy rule of threes, he mentions Hitler and the Crusades before Stewie quips, 'Prince Harry marrying Meghan Markle.' In the next moment, the show cuts to one of its signature cutaway gags with Harry sitting on a couch watching the episode. Advertisement 'Again?' he complains of the joke, before turning toward the camera with his hands on his hips to say, 'Oh, like all of your wives are so much better?' 'Family Guy,' which is known for not pulling punches when it comes to its pop culture digs, first took aim at the Sussexes in 2023. 6 'Family Guy' mocked Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in a recent episode. Family Guy/FOX In that episode, main character Peter Griffin, also voiced by MacFarlane, sits in a bar with friends pondering how to get back money he is owed when he jokes that he'll 'go it alone, just like Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.' The butler says, 'Sir, your millions from Netflix for … no one knows what.' 6 The July 17th episode titled 'Twain's World' showed a cartoon of Prince Harry on the couch, shocked that the show joked about him again. Family Guy/FOX Prince Harry waves him away, saying, 'Put it with the rest of them.' Advertisement Markle then gets a notification on her phone and declares, 'Babe, time to do our daily $250,000 sponsored Instagram post for Del Taco.' The animated prince sighs and says, 'I shouldn't have left the made-up nonsense.' Animated comedy 'South Park' also made fun of the couple in a 2023 episode, 'The Worldwide Privacy Tour.' 6 The couple found themselves the butt of the joke in a 2023 episode of the series, in which their money-hungry ways were mercilessly mocked by the animated show.
