Tyson Fury spotted at North East garage in surprise visit from boxing star

Yahoo20-04-2025
Boxing icon Tyson Fury made another headline-grabbing appearance in Teesside this week as he visited Acklam Car Centre in Middlesbrough on Wednesday (April 16).
The former heavyweight champion's return to the dealership was met with excitement from staff and fans alike, many of whom were thrilled to catch a glimpse of the sporting legend.
Acklam Cars, well-known for its celebrity clientele, shared the news of Fury's visit on social media with a post that read: 'A lovely visit from a very special friend at Acklam today - always a pleasure seeing you Tyson."

He's become somewhat of a familiar face at the Middlesbrough dealership, having been spotted there in earlier visits to pick up new wheels.
During a previous stop at the dealership, Acklam Car Centre posted 'the champ has been in town,' prompting a flurry of reactions online. One user commented, 'What a shame we weren't there today,' while another joked, 'Need to hope he has no problems with his cars.'

Fury's visit comes at a time when speculation over his boxing future continues to swirl.
Following two consecutive defeats to Ukrainian champion Oleksandr Usyk in 2024, the 36-year-old Brit announced his retirement from the sport in January.
His promoter, Bob Arum, recently poured cold water on comeback hopes, telling BBC's 5 Live Boxing podcast: 'If I were a betting man, I would say he will never fight again.
"Marvin Hagler had an expression – 'a rich guy who goes to bed wearing silk pyjamas doesn't get up in the morning to do road work.'
"Tyson I don't think wants to get up in the morning and do road work and go through the experience of having to train when economically he doesn't have to do it any more.'
However, not everyone is convinced Fury has hung up the gloves for good.

His recent gym sessions and public appearances have sparked rumours of a possible comeback, including a long-awaited showdown with Anthony Joshua.
Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, told the BBC last week: 'The next decision for AJ is going to be important. I hope it's Tyson Fury – we'll see what the boxing gods allow.
"This is the kind of fight that probably gets made over a DM between the two, or a text or a call. It's like, 'look, do you fancy it?' That's it. And then, bang, it's done.'
Until then, fans in Teesside are more than happy to welcome Fury any time he chooses to drop by.
Whether he's trading punches or picking up a new set of wheels, one thing's for certain – Tyson Fury knows how to make an entrance.

Max Shulga on what it was like to be drafted by the Boston Celtics

When the Boston Celtics took Max Shulga in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft, it immediately changed everything for the VCU alum. Projected to go anywhere from the middle of the second round to out of the draft entirely, the Ukrainian combo guard was more than a little excited when his name was called for the No. 57 pick of the draft that night. Shulga recently took some time to talk about that moment with Forbes Celtics beat writer Bobby Krivitskty, sharing how knowing he was headed to the NBA felt to him. "It's still surreal ... it hasn't really settled in fully yet ... (it's) a little weird, but it's going to take a couple of weeks," he explained. "It feels like when I walked in the facility, it still felt a bit like I'm going around and doing workouts and stuff like that. But yeah, it's an unbelievable feeling." Calling his shot with Boston a "once in a lifetime opportunity," Shulga related that he "couldn't even tell what to feel" when his name was called. "Everything was moving so fast," said Shulga. "My agent -- he was on the phone every minute; walking away, coming back, so it was kind of chaotic. But when I got to know that the Celtics were going to pick me, it was unbelievable. Unreal feeling." The new two way player will have to earn his stripes with the Maine Celtics this summer in the G League, where he'll likely spend most of his minutes for at least the first part of the 2025-26 regular season. But a solid start, or steady growth, could very well see him earn some NBA minutes by season's end with some luck and hard work. It may be a novel opportunity for Shulga at this stage of his career, but as a player who has worked his way to where he is now across a tougher path than most, there's a very real chance he sees the court with Boston next season. 'Having a drink cost me my family'

"Having a drink is what cost me my entire family." It is the first episode of Tommy Fury's BBC documentary and he is explaining why his very public break-up with Molly-Mae Hague happened. The boxer, whose profile skyrocketed when he went on Love Island in 2019, is sitting in his self-described "big" house, alone. A graphic pops up to say it is 110 days since Hague and their young daughter, Bambi, left. When Hague announced their break-up in August 2024, Fury immediately began facing accusations of cheating and getting another woman pregnant. Fury denied all those "disgusting" claims, and he reveals that after having an operation on a long-term hand injury, he began drinking heavily. John Fury, the father of both Tommy and former heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury, says he told Hague to leave his son. "During this documentary a lot of my hardest times have been documented," Fury tells BBC Sport. "[The documentary is about] how to navigate tough times. "What's it like behind the scenes of an actual boxing fight. "And how difficult it is to balance everything - being a family man, fighter and work life." The documentary follows Fury as he charts his way back from mental health struggles and excessive drinking. The Englishman credits boxing and his daughter Bambi, "the best thing in my life", with helping him most. And in May this year it was confirmed Fury and Hague had reconciled. "Training was my escape. I'd always feel amazing coming out of the gym no matter what was happening, even if my life was falling apart," Fury says. "My relationship with boxing is as it's always been. I've still got the same goals, I'm still hungry. "I am still up at four or five in the morning running, still training three times a day. The hunger is still there. "If it wasn't for boxing, I wouldn't have what I have in my life. "Boxing has opened every single door for me. I owe my life to boxing." Watch Tommy: The Good. The Bad. The Fury on BBC iPlayer and BBC Three from Tuesday, 19 August 'Jake Paul knows where I am' Fury's boxing career has followed an unusual path. The Mancunian had two professional fights under his belt when he appeared on Love Island, but with his fame and the emergence of influencer boxing, Fury stepped into that world. He says his goals are still the same, he still wants to be a world champion one day. "I am 26 years old, I believe I have the talent to do so, I just need the experience and the time," he says. But Fury's two biggest fights have been against YouTubers KSI and Jake Paul. Paul is a regular competitor in boxing and continues to be one of the most marketable fighters in the sport. Fury beat Paul by split decision in 2023 in a lucrative bout and while his ambitions are to establish himself as a top contender at cruiserweight, he is not ruling out more crossover fights. The Englishman was scheduled to fight ex-UFC star Darren Till earlier this year in a boxing match, before Fury pulled out of the contest. He returned from an 18-month absence from the ring in May when he beat Kenan Hanjalic in Budapest. With Paul on a six-fight winning streak since facing Fury and bringing boxing to streaming giant Netflix, Fury is open to a rematch. "Jake Paul's a unique character. He's doing well. There's no animosity or jealousy there," Fury says. "He's making big waves and good luck to him. I'm doing my thing. "I'm here, I'm ready but I'm not begging for a fight. I've done my job, I've beat him. I've got the win, he's got the loss. "Any day he wants to rectify that, he knows where I am." 'A very good game' – Luis Enrique gives verdict on Illia Zabarnyi's PSG debut against Nantes

PSG head coach Luis Enrique was pleased with Illia Zabarnyi's (22) debut with Les Parisiens. The Ukrainian defender has been given the nod for the first time by the Spaniard for the Champions League winners' Ligue 1 opening day win against Nantes. PSG got over the line courtesy of Vitinha's deflected effort. Luis Enrique fielded a B team, considering PSG have had close to no pre-season due to their commitments in the Club World Cup and the UEFA's Super Cup. Zabarnyi played the full 90 minutes against Luis Castro's Nantes as the right-sided centre-back, alongside Lucas Beraldo. The former Bournemouth centre-back put in an assured display, keeping Nantes at bay and earning a 6 in GFFN's ratings. Luis Enrique was also pleased with Zabarnyi's performance. 'His technical and physical condition is perfect for the style of play I like. He's comfortable with the ball. And without it, he usually wins it back. He's had a very good game.'
