METABORA GAMES Forms Strategic Web3 Game Partnership with Baligames

METABORA GAMES Begins Co-Development of Web3 Game with Promising Studio Baligames, best known for 'Axie Champions'
New Hybrid Title to Combine Casual Match-3 Puzzle Mechanics with RPG Progression Elements
Game to Feature BORA Token Payments and Gas Abstraction for Seamless User Transactions
SEOUL, South Korea, July 24, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — METABORA GAMES (CEO Choi Se-hoon), a leading blockchain game developer, announced today that it has signed a Web3 game co-development partnership with Baligames (CEO Kim Young-woo) to release a new title on LINE NEXT's Dapp Portal.
Baligames is a rising Korean game studio founded by core developers behind global hits like the Anipang series. With extensive experience in mobile game development and live operations, the studio became the first in Korea to secure strategic investment from Sky Mavis, the creators of Axie Infinity, a leading title in the global Web3 game space. Leveraging this partnership, Baligames launched Axie Champions and Puzzle Champions, two casual Web3 games based on the Axie IP.
Through this partnership, METABORA GAMES and Baligames will collaborate to launch a new Web3 title on LINE NEXT's Dapp Portal. Baligames will lead development and live operations for a hybrid game that combines casual match-3 puzzle mechanics with RPG-style progression. METABORA GAMES will support the project with tokenomics design optimized for LINE NEXT's Mini Dapp ecosystem, along with Web3-focused marketing.
The Dapp Portal is a platform within the Kaia ecosystem that allows users to access a variety of Mini Dapps—such as games and social apps—directly within LINE Messenger, without the need for separate installations.
The upcoming game will support in-app purchases using BORA tokens, enabling players to buy in-game items. Additionally, the game will be the first to implement a Gas Abstraction feature, allowing users to cover gas fees using BORA even if they do not hold Kaia tokens.
This announcement follows METABORA's recently signed Web3 distribution partnership with LINE NEXT on July 14, under which METABORA joined as a core partner for Web3 game publishing on the LINE NEXT's Dapp Portal.
A METABORA representative commented, 'Starting with our co-development partnership with Baligames, we plan to bring a lineup of competitive Web3 titles to the Dapp Portal. Through this effort, we aim to expand our game portfolio and further strengthen the BORA tokenomics.'

Stray Kids' Felix Appointed As Global Brand Ambassador For Beauty Brand HERA

Stray Kids' Felix (스트레이키즈 필릭스) continues to shine as K-pop's it-boy with his many brand deals. After landing the role as Gong Cha's global brand ambassador, the rapper was announced as the newest global brand ambassador for Korean beauty brand HERA! On 6th August 2025 (Wednesday), Amorepacific and HERA confirmed that they've recently signed a contract with Felix, signing him on as a model for the brand. The Stray Kids member takes over the ambassador role from BLACKPINK's Jennie. This new partnership also marks the first time the beauty brand has changed its brand model in more than six years. A spokesperson from HERA commented on the new collaboration with the idol, saying, 'Felix's unique aura and multifaceted charm align perfectly with Hera's identity and pursuit of bold and elegant beauty, making him the ideal choice to represent our brand. We look forward to him spreading Hera's beauty philosophy to global customers.' The brand will release official brand photos with Felix in the coming days. Stray Kids fans have been expecting Felix's new endorsement after spotting the idol with a HERA cushion on his bag last month. Since the product had his name engraved on its cover, fans speculated that the 25-year-old was hinting at his new partnership with the brand. Previously, Felix wore Gong Cha merchandise before the tea drink franchise announced him as their new global brand ambassador. Felix's other endorsements include being the house ambassador for luxury brand Louis Vuitton since 2023. The star has also walked the runway for the brand for Paris Fashion Week in 2024 and 2025. Analysts have estimated that Felix's partnership with Louis Vuitton has delivered significant media impact value for the brand, showcasing the idol's selling power. Earlier this year, he also became the model for Samsung's Galaxy S25 Edge smartphone. Congratulations to Felix on his new role! We can't wait to see more of the idol with HERA soon! Source: Naver

Leaders of South Korea, Vietnam to meet next week amid trade woes, sources say

FILE PHOTO: South Korean President Lee Jae Myung delivers a speech during a press conference to mark his first 30 days in office at Yeongbingwan of Blue House on July 3, 2025 in Seoul, South Korea. Kim Min-Hee/Pool via REUTERS/File Photo HANOI (Reuters) -New South Korean President Lee Jae-myung will host Vietnam's top leader To Lam on a visit next week, two people familiar with the plan said, as they aim to boost cooperation on technology at a time of global trade tension that could affect their ties. Korean companies have historically been the biggest investors in the Southeast Asian nation, pouring in $92 billion, by the end of last year, Vietnam government data shows, mainly in factories. Lam is expected to arrive on Sunday for the four-day event, the first state visit since Lee took office in June, said the sources who sought anonymity, as the visit has not yet been announced. Global trade uncertainty will figure in the talks in Seoul next week, said one of the sources. They come after the Trump administration approved new tariffs last week on goods from dozens of countries, including South Korea and Vietnam. The South Korean presidential office declined to comment. Vietnam's foreign ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Vietnam, which raised taxes on multinationals last year, drawing criticism from large foreign investors, now faces duties of 20% on its exports to the United States, while duties on South Korean products are set at 15%. Korean investment in Vietnam has led to the setting-up of some research centres and the transfer of valuable technology to its companies. Many Korean multinationals have used Vietnam as an export hub, benefiting for years from lower labour costs, generous tax incentives and Hanoi's numerous free trade pacts with dozens of countries. Top investor Samsung Electronics has its largest overseas industrial operations in Vietnam, from where it exports more than half the telephones it sells each year, with a large number destined for the United Sates. Korean companies appear to have slowed investments this year, however, as Vietnam's latest government data does not list them among the top seven investors over the first seven months. But companies with operations in Vietnam remain largely optimistic, ruling out immediate relocation on the grounds that it remains more attractive than rivals, the tariff impact was still unclear and the size of existing investments discouraged sudden moves, said two people with direct knowledge. It is not clear whether Vietnam may negotiate different rates for specific sectors, with possibly lower duties on electronics exports, which are the most relevant to Korean firms. In April, the Trump administration exempted from new global tariffs several electronics items, such as laptops and smartphones, but left the duration and scope unclear. Duties on semiconductors are expected to be unveiled later. (Reporting by Francesco Guarascio and Phuong Nguyen in Hanoi; Editing by Clarence Fernandez)

Google offers to blur sensitive sites on its map amid Seoul's security concerns

SEOUL: (Bernama-Yonhap) Google said Tuesday (Aug 5) it will blur sensitive sites on its map and satellite image services to address Seoul's national security concerns ahead of its decision this week on whether to allow the overseas transfer of high‑precision map data, Yonhap News Agency reported. "Just like in other countries, we respect national security and are working closely with the Korean government to protect it," Google Korea said in a statement posted on its blog, citing Cris Turner, vice‑president for government affairs and public policy at Google. "We have already confirmed our commitment with the Korean government to blur satellite images as required, and will be exploring acquiring imagery from approved Korean third parties where appropriate," the company added. The post came just days before a government panel is set to decide whether to approve Google's request to export South Korea's 1:5,000‑scale high‑precision map data. The panel meeting is slated for Friday. In February, the US tech giant submitted an application to the state‑run National Geographic Information Institute (NGII), seeking approval for the transfer of 1:5,000‑scale map data to its data centres abroad. The proposal has sparked a heated debate due to concerns that the export of detailed map data could expose military bases and other sensitive facilities. South Korea remains technically at war with North Korea, as the Korean War ended in a truce, not a peace treaty. Google emphasised that the 1:5,000‑scale map data is a public "national base map," approved by the NGII and already used by most domestic mapping services in Korea. "To handle the millions of simultaneous requests from users worldwide, including those researching travel from outside Korea, Google must rely on its globally distributed data centres for smooth, real‑time processing," the company said. "This technological necessity is why we are applying for permission to run the 1:5,000‑scale national base map through our distributed data centres." Google previously made similar requests in 2007 and 2016, but both were rejected by the South Korean government due to security concerns. The issue had also surfaced in recent trade negotiations between Seoul and Washington, with the map data restrictions cited as a potential non‑tariff barrier against US companies. - Bernama-Yonhap
