ITV's most successful The Chase star unveiled 16 years after it first aired
Since its debut on ITV in 2009, The Chase has become a staple of British quiz shows. Hosted by Bradley Walsh, the high-speed game sees contestants trying to outwit 'The Chaser' for a cash prize.
As of June 2025, there are six official Chasers: Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan, and Darragh Ennis. Each Chaser has their own moniker and has gained fame since the show's inception, also featuring in the ITV spin-off, Beat the Chasers.
But the burning question remains: who is the ultimate Chaser on TV?
New research by Betway has scrutinised factors such as accuracy, win rate, and highest target caught, to determine the best Chaser of all time. Financially, Paul Sinha emerges victorious.
Paul 'The Sinnerman' Sinha boasts a 78 per cent win rate across 436 appearances on The Chase. His average target to beat stands at 19 and he holds the highest average Chaser win total, raking in £14,651, making him the most financially successful chaser on the show, reports the Express.
Meanwhile, Mark 'The Beast' Labbett has a 76 per cent win rate over 475 episodes since his start in 2009. Labbett holds the record for the highest average target to beat, at 20, and the highest accuracy in the final chase, answering 83% of questions correctly.
Anne 'The Governess' Hegerty has been crowned the top Chaser on television. With 467 appearances and a win rate of 79% - the joint highest of any Chaser - it's no wonder she's seen as the most formidable opponent.
In the final chase, Hegerty averages 13 correct answers within the 60-second timeframe, with an average target of 19, the second highest among her peers.

When appearing on the ITV daytime show today to talk about the ongoing surrogacy storyline – that has seen Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) decide to be a surrogate for granddaughter Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) – the awkward matter of his upcoming exit was addressed. 'I don't want to put you on the spot, but I'm going to,' asked Jane Moore. 'There's lots of rumours that Mack might be getting killed off.' Lawrence, visibly squirming, replied: 'Yeah, there are lots of rumours. And rumours they shall remain.' Quick thinking – though Denise Welch didn't look too convinced. Co-host Coleen Nolan then chimed in, asking: 'If that was the case, I'm not saying it is or it isn't, [but] do they discuss that with you straight away or about a month before it's happening?' 'It's never brutal,' he replied, being extremely cautious about his wording. 'I've always said, being in the show, I never want to be too prescriptive with it. 'I've always enjoyed doing what I'm doing. Ultimately if and when, – if, when – the time for Mack to leave comes, whether that be my choice or the writer-producers, I'll be thankful for the time that I've had.' Hit Channel 4 baking show Great British Bake Off will be back on screens very soon as the first look at the latest series has been revealed along with the hosts and judges Great British Bake Off is set to be back on screens very soon as the end of summer nears. The hit Channel 4 baking show has been a TV staple for years, marking the beginning of autumn as millions tune in to watch the successful and not so successful bakes unfold. Its latest series is just weeks away from airing as viewers prepare to witness the rise, and sometimes fall, of sponge, pastry, and bread. To mark a new series on the horizon, Channel 4 has released a first look as they confirm the hosts and judges, with one of them missing. Comedian Joe Wilkinson takes the helm as narrator for the eccentric trailer that appears to be set in space, before baking ingredients appear. It comes after Channel 4 breaks silence after Gogglebox couple suddenly dumped from show. He takes the viewers on a journey of life, with hosts Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond making an appearance as animated characters. In a nod to the hosts, Joe quipped: "From it grew life, intelligent life, adorned in knitwear and leopard print." Inspired by the Big Bang, the trailer imagines a universe born not from dust and gas, but from a spectacular explosion of flour, sugar, and baked wonders. In the end, it shows it was all formed from the twinkling blue eye of judge Paul Hollywood himself. Judge Prue Leith was nowhere to be seen in the clip for the upcoming series, but Channel 4 confirmed she will be taking part. They said: " As the ovens fire up and a new batch of bakers steps into the iconic tent to face Paul and Prue, audiences can expect all the classic ingredients — warmth, humour, creativity, and just the right amount of competition. "This autumn, let the universe of Bake Off pull you in once again. Because, as the trail says, once there was nothing, and then there was Bake Off." A return date is yet to be shared with fans, but it has been teased it is "soon". Before Prue's absence from the trailer, many fans had questioned her future on the show. She replaced Dame Mary Berry as a judge on the TV favourite when it moved to Channel 4 in 2017, and has been seen alongside Paul ever since. The renowned TV chef has also gone on to host Prue Leith's Cotswolds Kitchen for ITV and last year appeared on The Masked Singer. However, she failed to return to presenting duties for Celebrity Great British Bake Off earlier this year leaving fans concerned. Many wondered if she had quit the series, but Prue insisted it was not the case. During an appearance on ITV's Lorraine, she told viewers that she only stopped appearing the celebrity version because she needed a break, explaining: "I keep being asked if I'm leaving. "This is because I left the celebrity [version]. I stopped doing that last year because I just hadn't had a holiday in the summer for eight years. I've only given up Celebrity [Bake Off]." She said: "I still do The Great American Bake Off, which we are filming at the moment, and I still do The Great British Bake Off, which I love, and is the mother of them all." Prue has no intention of leaving the regular version of the programme, adding: "It's the best job in telly. It's absolutely the best job in telly, I don't have to learn lines, I don't have to have script. I just walk on and eat cake."
