Premier League manager, 42, set to turn secret agent in bid to KO Man Utd's Europa League hopes

Ten-man Cherries came within minutes of beating United without Evanilson, who was sent off, on Sunday afternoon before Rasmus Hojlund's injury-time leveler cancelled out Antoine Semenyo's opener.
And Iraola is ready to pass on some insider knowledge to his old boss Valverde in the coming days.
Iraola, 42, is a boyhood fan of Athletic and played more than 500 games for the Basque club — 156 of which came under Valverde.
Asked if he would be speaking to his old manager to share his insight on United, Iraola replied: 'Yes, probably we will speak. We have a very good relationship.
'He has probably been the most special coach I've ever had and I wish him the best.'
Basque-born Iraola was also captain of Bilbao when they defeated United home and away en route to the Europa League final in 2012.
Valverde — now into his THIRD spell as manager of the LaLiga club — is held in high regard by Iraola, who rates the Spaniard above the much-admired Marcelo Bielsa when it comes to coaches with whom he has worked.
As such, Iraola is more than happy to hand over as much information as he can to help his former club and chief beat the Red Devils.
Iraola added: 'We are very lucky, the Athletic Club supporters, to have him right now. I hope he goes all the way and wins it, because he fully deserves it.
'I'm not going to hide it that I also want Athletic Club to win the Europa League. So definitely I will also support Athletic Club.'
Valverde's side is determined to go all the way in the Europa League this season as the final takes place in Bilbao's San Mames on May 21.
Man Utd player ratings vs Bournemouth
By Katherine Walsh
MANCHESTER UNITED managed to secure a 1-1 draw against 10-man Bournemouth in the sixth minute of injury time.
Rasmus Hojlund's last-gasp equaliser leaves United 14th in the Prem, after Evanilson was sent off for serious foul play with 20 minutes to go.
Man Utd target Antoine Semenyo fired the home side into the lead with a thunderbolt opener, after a calamity of mistakes while playing out from the back.
Yet United somewhat responded well, mainly through Alejandro Garnacho's flurry of chances.

Xabi Alonso clarifies Rodrygo decision as Arsenal eye Real Madrid transfer compromise

Rodrygo was left on the bench for Real Madrid's La Liga opener but Xabi Alonso insists there's nothing to read into the decision as Arsenal continue to circle for the Brazilian Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso insists "nothing is happening" with Rodrygo despite leaving him on the bench throughout their opening win over Osasuna at the weekend. ‌ The Brazilian has been linked with the Bernabeu exit door all summer having fallen down the pecking order following Carlo Ancelotti's departure. The forward was only a peripheral figure throughout Real's Club World Cup effort and his selection woes have now continued. ‌ He was left out for the team's first La Liga game of the season, only furthering speculation that he will look to find a way out of the club. Alonso though maintains that he will look to Rodrygo later in this season, playing down the importance of leaving him out. ‌ The ex-Bayer Leverkusen boss told reporters: 'Rodrygo? Nothing is happening. I count on Rodrygo of course. It's just a game, this was my decision." Rodrygo's importance has appeared to dwindle in recent years with Kylian Mbappe now the main man in attack alongside Vinicius Jnr. Jude Bellingham is also a shining light. Brahim Diaz also got the nod over Rodygo at the weekend. Arsenal are among those to have been heavily linked with the Real star, who will not come cheap if he does move. Mikel Arteta had been looking to bolster his flanks in attack but their attention looks to have turned to the likes of Eberechi Eze. Given the financial demands of the deal the Premier League side had looked to pitch an agreement with the Spanish side that would've seen them take Rodrygo on loan this summer. Twelve months later they would then buy him permanently but that offer hasn't tempted Real. The player himself is only thought to be open to moving to Arsenal, Manchester City or Rodrygo. City's interest has cooled after they chose not to cash in on Savinho. The winger was potentially going to provide the funds to go after Rodrygo, but that situation has now been shelved after City bosses blocked a potential move to Tottenham. Liverpool have made it known that they want to bring in more firepower. The sales of Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz have left them lighter in attack but their attention is on securing a British-record deal for Alexander Isak. Ex-Liverpool star who was humiliated in training changes his name

Liverpool's busy summer transfer window continues with the sale of young winger Ben Doak to Bournemouth, though the 19-year-old Scotland international now wishes to go by a different name Liverpool have surpassed £200million in sales this transfer window, with 19-year-old Ben Doak departing for a fee of £25m. And the Scotland winger now wants to be referred to as Ben Gannon Doak after his Bournemouth switch. ‌ Arne Slot's Reds continue to be active in the transfer market, with interest in Alexander Isak still rumbling and nearly £300m spent on the likes of Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz. However, a large portion of this sum has been recouped through player sales. ‌ Eight first-team stars have left Anfield this window, including Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, and another has now been shown the exit door in Gannon Doak. Yet, despite only going by Doak at Liverpool and on loan with Middlesbrough last year, he now wishes to be referred to by both his parents' surnames and leaves the club with fond memories, bar one training ground humiliation. ‌ Gannon Doak arrived on Merseyside in March 2022 from Celtic as an academy prospect, with the Scottish club receiving compensation of roughly £600,000 for his transfer. He made his debut under Jurgen Klopp in a Carabao Cup tie against Derby County and shortly after signed his first pro deal. Gannon Doak became the youngest Scotsman to play in the Premier League when he appeared against Aston Villa that December. A knee injury would sideline him for most of the following season, but not before a lighthearted training ground embarrassment involving forgotten Reds midfielder Arthur Melo. The Brazilian only played 13 minutes for Liverpool during his loan spell from Juventus, but in March 2023, he went viral for a piece of skill on the training pitch. Klopp's cohort were preparing for a clash against Manchester City, and initiated a rondo, with Gannon Doak doing the chasing. Melo received the ball, and with Gannon Doak rapidly closing in, he silkily rolled it through his legs, nutmegging the young Scotsman and leaving him red-faced. ‌ Gannon Doak's countryman, Andy Robertson, began crying with laughter after the feat, and team-mates Diaz, Curtis Jones and Nunez were also impressed. The pair hugged it out after the nutmeg, though neither played any part in the subsequent 4-1 defeat to eventual champions City. Melo left Anfield that summer after a temporary spell riddled with injuries. Gannon Doak, too, suffered from spells on the sidelines before his loan move to Middlesbrough in August 2024. Last November, he won the EFL Young Player of the Month award for bagging five assists in as many games. ‌ Now, Gannon Doak has moved on permanently to the Cherries, where he's been handed the No. 11 shirt, and has opted for a new moniker on the back to reflect both of his parents' surnames. It has been reported that this deal includes a buy-back option for the Reds. "I'm buzzing to be here. I feel like it's the right time for me and it's a great opportunity to play regular football at the highest level," said Gannon Doak after his move was announced. "It feels like the perfect fit. The team play very nice football. It's fast and it really suits my game, so I felt like I couldn't say no to the chance to play here." How Man Utd plan to fund £2billion new stadium with ‘sinister' tactic from the US

MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly planning to fund their new £2billion stadium with a 'sinister' tactic from the US. The Red Devils announced plans for a mega 100,000-seater arena in March after deciding to replace Old Trafford. 3 Man Utd are planning to fund their new £2billion stadium with a 'sinister' US tactic Credit: Getty 3 The Red Devils announced plans for a 100,00-seater arena in March Credit: Reuters The new stadium will be the biggest in the country. And a local regeneration project is expected to create thousands of jobs and new homes. United believe once the £2bn stadium and surrounding areas are complete, it will generate £7bn annually into the economy. United's plans are expected to cost upwards of £4.2bn in total. In order to build their stadium, United must move a rail freight hub which currently sits on land needed for the project. And it's claimed they want the UK government to pay the estimated costs, which could reach £300million – but has previously been estimated at as much as £1bn. In the past, West Ham's London Stadium and Manchester City's Etihad Stadium were built with public money. Politicians including Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham had previously declared that no public funds would be used to build United's new stadium. This follows a 'sinister' trend across the pond in the US, where public funds are often handed to sport teams for new stadiums. In 2016, the Las Vegas Raiders were handed £555m when they were still a California-based franchise. Three years ago, the Buffalo Bills received £629m of public funding, while the Washington Commanders are currently in the process of landing £740m - which works out at $1bn. The money is handed out with the promise of returning major numbers to the economy. But Pat Garofalo, of the American Economic Liberties Project, told The Guardian: 'That's the story they tell to get the public money, but it's the big lie. 'We (in the US) export a lot of problematic things, and I really hope that we don't export that big lie.' The Guardian adds that Manchester United declined to comment.
