Dubai, United Arab Emirates. - The Ram brand put another notch in its belt when Stellantis' Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (SHAP) assembled its two millionth Ram 1500 on April 16. The truck is a Flame Red 2025 Ram 1500 RHO.
Debuting in 2024, the Ram 1500 RHO expands the brand's off-road sport truck lineup that already consists of Warlock and Rebel — all three are assembled at SHAP.
'The Sterling Heights Assembly Plant is a core facility in our manufacturing footprint, tasked with the difficult responsibility of assembling the Ram 1500, a nameplate with 10 trim levels and thousands of configurations,' said Tim Kuniskis, Ram brand CEO. 'Handing keys to nearly 2 million Ram 1500 customers takes a strong team as we start an aggressive product cadence for Ram brand.'
The two millionth milestone comes approximately six months after the plant celebrated its 40th anniversary as a Stellantis-owned facility.
In 2016, the company announced that SHAP would be converted from a car assembly plant to a truck assembly plant to produce the Ram 1500. In March 2018, the first Ram 1500 rolled off the production line as a 2019 model. Seven years later, the facility reached the 2 million milestone.
'Not that long ago, SHAP's future was in doubt so this is a remarkable accomplishment, and I am so proud of this workforce for their resilience and dedication,' said Chuck Padden, SHAP plant manager. 'We have a lot to look forward to as we start building the Ram 1500 with a range of powertrain options, providing freedom of choice for our customers.'
As the primary home for Ram 1500 production, the company recently invested $235.5 million at the suburban Detroit facility to produce the all-new range-extended Ram 1500 Ramcharger, as well as the company's first battery-electric light-duty truck, the Ram 1500 REV. Last year, Stellantis began transitioning to its next generation of products built on its multi-energy platforms engineered to offer a variety of powertrain options, including internal combustion, hybrid and electric.
The 2025 Ram 1500 earned the prestigious MotorTrend Truck of the Year award, the seventh time Ram has achieved this recognition.

RAM launches the world's shortest flight ‘RHO Airlines'

RAM Trucks has taken to the skies – briefly – to launch its latest performance vehicle with a bold and unexpected activation. In partnership with Publicis Middle East, the brand unveiled 'RHO Airlines', a creative stunt that turned the desert into a runway for what is being described as the world's shortest flight, lasting just 1.2 seconds. To bring the idea to life, RAM and Publicis built a fully immersive airport experience in the middle of the desert, complete with check-in counters, security, ground staff, air traffic control and cabin crew. The only thing missing was a plane. Instead, at the centre of the experience was the new RAM RHO 1500, a high-performance truck engineered for speed, agility and off-road capability. The activation featured Saudi Arabia's popular duo The Saudi Reporters in what the brand calls a 'first-of-its-kind' influencer stunt. One brother, Abdullah, pranked the other, Abdulaziz, into thinking he was boarding a new desert-based airline. Instead, he found himself in the passenger seat of the RHO 1500 as it launched off a sand dune – piloted by a professional stunt driver. 'This stunt captures the essence of RAM. It is about power, capability and the spirit of adventure,' said Stuart Laurie, Head of RAM Brand at Stellantis Middle East. 'The RAM RHO 1500 is not just built to conquer roads and terrains. It is engineered to push boundaries and fire up imaginations, which is exactly what RHO Airlines brings to life.' The campaign kicked off with teaser content across RAM's social platforms, hinting at the arrival of a mysterious new airline. The full reveal came through a hero video that documented the prank and airborne moment in a fast-paced, cinematic format. 'The RHO is unexpectedly thrilling to drive, and we wanted to create an experience that was equally unexpected,' added Tuki Ghiassi, Executive Creative Director at Publicis Middle East. 'RHO Airlines is what happens when you take a product truth and turn it into a full-blown experience.' The activation marks the first phase of a wider brand campaign, with additional content expected to roll out in the coming weeks.

Trump's auto tariffs could cost US automakers $108 billion, says study

A new analysis by the Centre for Automotive Research has found that President Donald Trump's 25% auto tariffs imposed in early April will increase costs by about $108 billion for automakers in the US in 2025. The study, released on Thursday by the Ann Arbor, Michigan-based organization, found Detroit automakers Ford Motor , General Motors and Stellantis, maker of Jeeps and Ram trucks, specifically will see increased costs of $42 billion. The study found the Detroit Three could see tariffs of nearly $5,000 for the parts they import on average for each car produced in the US, and about $8,600 on average for each car they import. Trump's 25% automotive import tariffs took effect April 3, causing shock waves across the industry since supplies come from all over the world. Vehicles made in Mexico and Canada face the levy, but automakers compliant with the terms of the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement can deduct the value of US content. The tariffs have pushed automakers to make production changes, with GM increasing truck output at an Indiana plant and Stellantis temporarily shutting down production at a plant in Mexico and one in Canada. These moves affected five US facilities that are connected to them. The study estimates the Detroit Three automakers will see an average cost of the tariff per vehicle for imported vehicle parts of $4,911, higher than the overall industry's average of $4,239 per vehicle. For imported vehicles, the study found the average tariff cost per vehicle to be $8,722 for the overall industry and $8,641 for the Detroit Three.
