Kumar Rocker, Rowdy Tellez lead Rangers past slumping Tigers 4-1

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Kumar Rocker took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and Rowdy Tellez hit a three-run home run in his second game with the Rangers as Texas beat the slumping Detroit Tigers 4-1 on Saturday night. Rocker (4-4) pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing only Wenceel Pérez's two-out single in the sixth that was pulled down the first-base line on an 0-2 cut fastball that was low and inside. The rookie struck out five and walked three, throwing 96 pitches, one shy of his career high. The Rangers won for the sixth time in their last eight games despite having only four hits. At 50-49, they're over .500 for the first time since being 25-24 on May 20. Riley Greene broke up the shutout bid with a ninth-inning home run. The Tigers still have the best record in the AL at 59-40 even though they have lost a season-high six consecutive games. They were held to three hits after getting four in Friday night's 2-0 defeat. Rocker came off a July 9 no-decision against the Los Angeles Angels in which he matched a career high six runs allowed. Tellez, who joined Texas before Friday's game, launched a mid-90s fastball on a 3-0 pitch from Keider Montero (4-2) over the 410 sign in center field. Corey Seager's fifth-inning RBI single gave him a 20-game on-base streak, the longest for the Rangers this season. Key moment Rangers manager Bruce Bochy pulled Rocker with one out into the seventh, allowing him to receive an ovation. Key stat Rangers pitching leads the majors with a 3.22 ERA, their starting rotation is also first at 3.20, and the club leads the AL with 11 shutouts. Up next Sunday night's series finale will match Tigers LHP Tarik Skubal (10-3, 2.23 ERA), who started Tuesday's All-Star Game, against Rangers RHP Nathan Eovaldi (7-3, 1.58), awarded a $100,000 All-Star bonus even though he wasn't named to the roster. ___ AP MLB:

Athletics get late homers from Langeliers, Wilson and Kurtz in 8-2 win over Guardians

CLEVELAND (AP) — Shea Langeliers, Jacob Wilson and Nick Kurtz homered in the final two innings to help the Athletics pull away for an 8-2 victory over the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday night. Luis Severino (3-11) gave up three hits in five innings for the win — allowing only José Ramírez's two-run homer in the third. All three of Severino's wins have come on the road. Jack Perkins struck out three in three scoreless innings and Justin Sterner pitched the ninth to close it out. Nolan Jones had a two-out single off Severino in the third before scoring on Ramírez's 19th home run for a 2-0 lead. Ramírez is 6 for 14 with four homers against Severino in his career. Brent Rooker, Kurtz and Langeliers hit three straight doubles to start the fourth against Logan Allen (6-8), tying the score. Miguel Andujar singled for a fourth consecutive A's hit and a 3-2 lead. Allen allowed three runs and eight hits in 5 1/3 innings. Kurtz led off the eighth against Nic Enright with another double and Langeliers followed with his 14th homer for a 5-2 advantage. Denzel Clarke tripled with one out in the ninth and finished a homer shy of the cycle. Wilson followed with his 10th homer and Kurtz capped the scoring with his 18th, which leads all rookies. Enright gave up two runs on three hits and retired four batters. Kolby Allard allowed both homers in the ninth. Key moment Langeliers hit a 0-2 pitch from Enright for an opposite-field homer to right to give the A's a three-run cushion. Key stat Cleveland has won 20 of the last 25 matchups with the Athletics. Up next Athletics LHP Jeffrey Springs (8-6, 3.93 ERA) starts Sunday opposite Guardians RHP Gavin Williams (5-4, 3.70). ___ AP MLB:

Suarez hits 32nd and 33rd homers as Diamondbacks rout Cardinals 10-1

PHOENIX (AP) — Eugenio Suárez homered twice, Corbin Carroll had two triples and the Arizona Diamondbacks cruised to a 10-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday. Suárez has five multi-homer games this season, including a four-homer night April 26. Carroll leads the big leagues with 12 triples. The 34-year-old Suárez is in an intriguing spot as the trade deadline approaches. The All-Star third baseman has 33 homers and is arguably the best power bat on the market, but it's unclear if the D-backs will be buyers or sellers considering their 49-50 record is still on the fringe of the National League playoff race. Suarez's 18 homers since June 1 are the most in the big leagues. D-backs righty Ryne Nelson (6-2) had a quality start, giving up one run on four hits over six innings. The D-backs jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first inning after Carroll hit a leadoff triple and Geraldo Perdomo brought him home with a single. Josh Naylor reached on catcher's interference with two outs and Suarez followed with a long two-run homer to left field. Arizona pushed the advantage to 5-0 in the second after Blaze Alexander and Perdomo hit RBI singles. Suarez went deep again in the third with a solo shot to right center. St. Louis right-hander Sonny Gray (9-4) gave up a season-high nine runs, including eight earned, over 3 1/3 innings. He gave up 11 hits and struck out five. Alec Burleson hit a solo homer in the sixth for the Cardinals, who have lost 10 of their past 14 games. Key moment Carroll's leadoff triple was a harbinger of the offensive onslaught that was coming. Key stat The Diamondbacks scored at least one run in each of the first four innings. Up next The Cardinals will throw RHP Miles Mikolas (5-6, 4.94 ERA), while the D-backs counter with RHP Merrill Kelly (8-5, 3.34) in the series finale Sunday. ___ AP MLB:
