Elderly man in critical condition after being hit by car while on mobility scooter
The 84-year-old was on Gartlea Road around 4.50pm on Friday when he was struck by a Vauxhall Mokka being driven by a 43-year-old man.
Emergency services attended the scene and the elderly man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where his condition is described as critical.
Police are urging for anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch.
Sergeant Ross Allison said: 'Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this crash, and I would urge any witnesses or anyone with information that may assist to contact us.
'I would also ask any drivers with dash-cam who were in the Gartlea Road area at the time to review their footage and please contact us if it holds anything which may be relevant.'

One resident, who declined to be named, said: 'It was all happening in the top floor flat. 'There was lots of shouting and the cops were speaking to someone in the flat. 'Armed cops then turned up and shortly after that there was billowing out of the windows. 'I think whoever was in the flat got out.' A fire command unit arrived on scene and firefighters wearing white forensic suits were also spotted in the street. Cordons were put up and officers were standing guard. Teenagers charged after £2,000 raid on shop which left store damaged
The incident took place in Fife. Two youngsters have been charged over a £2,000 break-in. The teenagers allegedly stole items valued at £2,100. The Incident in Fife is also said to have resulted in damage caused to the store in question. A probe was launched following a report in the early hours of Wednesday, August 6. Police Scotland officers began investigating and, during the probe, the youths were detained. The force said this evening that they have since been charged. "A hotel on the island has reported that a number of guests with upcoming reservations have received fraudulent emails requesting bank details to "confirm" their booking. The emails are sent from an address that is not connected to the hotel.
