Japanese envoy visits SU
Ambassador Shuichi was warmly received by SU Registrar Dr Mushtaq Ali Jariko, Director of the Area Study Centre Dr Mukesh Kumar Khatwani and senior faculty members. During his interaction at the Centre, the ambassador expressed keen interest in strengthening academic and cultural exchanges between Japanese institutions and the University of Sindh Jamshoro.

Cabinet body underscores need for enhancing cotton production, profitability
ISLAMABAD: The Cabinet Committee on Essential Crops had emphasised the need for coordinated, evidence based, and actionable steps to restore cotton's central role in the national economy, strengthen global competitiveness, and improve farmer incomes. Pakistan should take advantage of ‘lowest' US tariffs: FPCCI
KARACHI: President of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Atif Ikram Sheikh has emphasised the need that Pakistan should take full advantage of the lowest tariffs from the US in the region. He said that the US tariff imposed on India is 50 percent, on Bangladesh and Vietnam 20 percent, and on Pakistan 19 percent. He expressed fear that higher production costs compared to other countries in the region can neutralize this benefit. Taxes and high electricity and gas prices for the industry are a major obstacle to taking advantage of low tariffs, said Atif Ikram Sheikh. The government should immediately pay attention to the issue and reduce energy prices for the industrial sector, Atif Ikram Sheikh demanded. The NUST Formula Student Team, in partnership with NUVEX, announced the Formula Pakistan Launch Event — a groundbreaking initiative set to take place on August 9, 2025. Formula Pakistan 2025 is the country's first national STEM and motorsport education competition designed for school students aged 11 to 19. This pioneering platform empowers students to design, build, and race scaled-down vehicles, applying real-world principles of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The launch event will be attended by students, educators, industry leaders, media representatives, and special guests — including the Governor of Sindh as the chief guest. The event marks a national movement to combine innovation, education, and engineering in a format that is accessible and inspiring for youth across the country. 'This isn't just about racing — it's about building the future of Pakistan through hands-on learning, problem-solving, and creativity,' said Abdul Mateen, organiserof Formula Pakistan.
