Jordan Motorsport announces Jordan Baja to run in mid-April
AMMAN — Jordan Motorsport has announced details of the Jordan Baja, the second round of this year's FIA World and Middle East Baja Cups and round three of the FIM Bajas World Cup. The event has switched from a November date and will be based out of the Red Sea city of Aqaba on April 10th-12th.
A round of the premier FIA off-road series since 2019 and the FIM championship since 2021, the event runs for three days and utilises terrain with the backdrop of some of the most spectacular desert vistas on the planet.
After a short Prologue stage on April 10th to determine the starting order for the opening selective section, competitors will attend the traditional ceremonial start procedure at the Arab Revolt Plaza on the outskirts of southern Aqaba from 17.15hrs.
Competitive action then switches to the awe-inspiring Wadi Rum region in southern Jordan for a first stage of 334.13km on April 11th. This will be split into two timed sections of 200.60km and 133.53km.
The Hashemite Kingdom's premier off-road event will then use a shorter stage of 185.30km on April 12th before the return to Aqaba for the ceremonial finish, prize giving and post-event press conference at the Arab Revolt Plaza from 17.30hrs.
In a total route of 749.30km, 522.43km will be timed against the clock in a challenging route laid on by Jordan Motorsport under Zaid Balqez, the chairman of the Organising Committee, Clerk of the Course Khaled Zakaria and their experienced organising team. George Khoury will act as clerk of the course for the FIM event.
'We are pleased to be holding the Baja earlier in the season, where the weather will be slightly more consistent and competitors are just starting out on their programme of events for 2025,' said Zaid Balqez. 'Southern Jordan offers stunning terrain and a sensational back drop for our regional and international competitors. Many of the visual images from the event have already become iconic in cross-country motorsport and we are sure that this year's Baja will build upon the successes of the last few years.'
The 2025 Jordan Baja will be based at the Westin Saraya Aqaba Resort and Spa for the first time. Entries are now open with the closing date set for Wednesday, March 26th.
Emirati driver Khalid Al Jafla teamed up with Andrei Rudnitski to claim a maiden victory in Jordan last November and he also secured maximum points in the competitive Challenger category with his Taurus T3 Max. That win in the FIA category followed previous successes for Poland's Jakub Przygonski (Mini) and the Saudi Arabian duo of Yasir Seaidan (Mini) and Saleh Al Saif (Can-Am) in 2019, 2021 and 2022.
The UAE's Mohammed Al Balooshi has been the man to beat on two wheels since 2019 and earned a fourth win last November on his KTM 450 Rally on his way to the FIM Bajas World Cup title.
Saudi riders have dominated the quad category since its inception in 2021 with Faisal Al Suwayh, Abdulmajeed Al Khulaifi and Abdulaziz Al Shayban claiming a win apiece on their Yamahas.

Difficult end to a strong Season 11 for Nissan Formula E Team in London
Nissan Formula E Team had a tough weekend at the season finale of a strong 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Racing in a special teal-blue livery to celebrate the launch of the new Nissan LEAF, Norman Nato secured points on Saturday and Rowland fought at the front on Sunday before an incident forced the Brit to Round 15 on Saturday, Nato put in a promising performance to earn a top-10 finish. The Frenchman started 16th but quickly made his way up the order, consistently showing competitive pace and gaining seven places to come ninth. In the #23 car, recently crowned Season 11 World Champion Oliver Rowland lined up in 12th. However, damage from contact during the E-Prix hampered his progress, with the Brit ending up just over a second off a points finish in a frustrating first race of the weekend, the team worked hard and was fully focused on the final round of the season, with an opportunity to still clinch both the Teams' and Manufacturers' titles. Both drivers narrowly missed out on the Duels in qualifying, lining up side-by-side in ninth and 10th. Early contact forced Nato to pit, but once he re-joined at the back of the pack he battled his way up to 11th, finishing under a second off the top-10. In the #23 car, Rowland made great early progress from 10th on the grid, swiftly moving up the order. However, the Brit had an incident while in the podium positions, which brought his race to a premature E now enters its off-season after another entertaining campaign, which saw Nissan Formula E Team secure four pole positions, and seven podiums including four wins. An incredible campaign from Oliver Rowland meant he clinched the Drivers' title at the previous event in Berlin with two races to go, while the Japanese squad also took its best finish in the Teams' Championship since the automaker fully took over the team by claiming third, with Nissan also taking third as a constructor in the Manufacturers' Volpe, managing director and team principal, Nissan Formula E Team: 'It's of course disappointing to finish third in both the Teams' and Manufacturers' Championships after leading them for parts of the season. However, if we take a step back, we can be very proud with this amazing year. We've achieved seven podiums and four victories, we've secured the Drivers' Championship with two races to go, and we were in the fight for the Teams' and Manufacturers' until the very last race. We've been competitive throughout and we've matured together as a team. And our mistakes and anything that didn't go our way during this campaign will help us to be even stronger next season.'Oliver Rowland, driver, Nissan Formula E Team: 'We struggled for pace a bit on Saturday and then got stuck behind other cars after our Pit Boost stop. It's tough to overtake here and then I suffered contact, which denied me the chance of scoring points. On Sunday we had a better qualifying and I was able to race at the front, before an incident ended my race. It's been a difficult weekend but, overall, Season 11 has been a remarkable one. It's a dream come true to be World Champion and to collect the trophy! This will give us great motivation in the off-season to continue to improve and come back even better next season.' Man City down Al-Ain 6-0 to reach Club World Cup knockout stage with Juve
Ammon News - Ilkay Gundogan scored two goals as Manchester City comfortably dispatched Emirati club Al-Ain 6-0 on Sunday to ease into the knockout stage of the Club World Cup from Group G along with Juventus. The German midfielder found the net in the ninth and 73rd minutes while Argentine teenager Claudio Etcheverri also fired home a free kick and Erling Haaland a penalty before the break. Substitutes Oscar Bobb and new signing Rayan Cherki sealed the emphatic victory in the last 10 minutes to draw City level on goal difference with Juventus, who beat Wydad Casablanca 4-1 earlier on Sunday. City and Juventus meet in their final group match in Orlando on Thursday to decide which of them progresses to the round of 16 as group winners. "A really good performance," said Gundogan. "I think we had our moments in the first half, and then also the second part of the second half. "I think the result speaks for itself, and in the end, fully deserved." City manager Pep Guardiola illustrated the depth of his squad by making 11 changes, and Gundogan made the most of his start by opening the scoring with a chipped cross that floated over the head of Al-Ain keeper Khalid Eisa and into the net. Al-Ain were showing more ambition than they had in their 5-0 loss to Juventus and winger Nassim Chadli had a chance to equalise in the 15th minute but City keeper Stefan Ortega Moreno managed to push it wide. Egyptian Ramy Rabia wrestled Manuel Akanji to the ground from a corner and after VAR informed the referee of the offence, Haaland sent Eisa to the left and banged the ball into the right-hand corner for his 32nd goal of the season. City kept up the pressure in the second half and forward Matheus Nunes turned and volleyed the ball past the post just after the hour mark before Eisa finally showed his quality by twice denying Haaland from close range. Chadli had another chance in the 69th minute but fired his shot high over the bar and Gundogan soon ended any hopes of a comeback with his second goal. Bernardo Silva drifted across the edge of the box before drilling a pass towards the penalty spot and Gundogan got a great first touch to take him past the defence before lifting the ball over Eisa. Bobb cut inside the box onto his left foot to beat Eisa at his near post eight minutes from time before his fellow winger Cherki sealed the rout with a clinical finish from the edge of the box. Following Season 11's hugely successful debut in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the Jeddah E-Prix will return with yet another set of races in Season 12 as Formula E and the FIA announced the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship's first provisional calendar for the 2025-26 season. Following validation from the FIA's World Motorsport Council Meeting, the championship will have its most expansive season yet with 18 races across 12 global cities, including new races in Madrid and Miami's International Autodrome for the first time, and a nighttime double-header under the lights in Jeddah. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Red Sea coastline, the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, known for its high-speed corners and dramatic setting, promises fresh challenges and unforgettable racing on February 13-14, 2025, following an incredible debut at the circuit earlier this year. After six successful seasons in Diriyah, Formula E moved the E-Prix to Jeddah for the 2024-25 season. The successful double-header event also marked the debut of the innovative 'PIT BOOST' mandatory pit stops that delivered a strategic energy boost, adding a new layer of excitement to the all-electric competition. The series' record-breaking 12th season begins on 6 December 2025 on the vibrant streets of São Paulo, before the championship returns to Mexico City in January. Formula E then makes its first race appearance at the Miami International Autodrome on 31 January - taking high-speed electric street racing closer to the heart of one of America's most passionate sports hubs on the East Coast of the USA. Securing a race at the venue for the first time follows the successful delivery of its EVO Sessions event in March 2025. February sees the nighttime double-header under the lights in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, while Madrid debuts on the calendar in March at the historic Circuito de Madrid Jarama-RACE - the first time Formula E has raced in the Spanish capital - and the first World Championship motorsport event held in the city in 37 years, since 1989. Returning venues include Berlin, Tokyo, and Shanghai, each hosting double-header race weekends, while Monaco continues its role as the jewel in the crown of motorsport, hosting back-to-back races on the iconic street circuit, only the second time it has hosted World Championship races on consecutive days after it debuted earlier in May this year. The season concludes once more in London, with a climactic double-header at the Excel on 15-16 August 2026 that will round out the end of the GEN3 Evo era. Two further locations to complete the calendar are awaiting public confirmation, as final-stage negotiations are ongoing with local authorities ahead of forthcoming World Motor Sport Council Meetings later in the year, when the final calendar will be revealed and ratified. Sustainability has been central to the planning and delivery of the calendar with dedicated clusters of events grouped by continent across the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific to reduce freight transport and CO2 emissions, and maximise efficiencies across regions.
