All Pink to show her true colours at The Valley
The result was not the issue. All Pink bolted in when resuming at Terang on April 13.
All Pink's behaviour before the race was the problem.
It left the trainers wondering whether weeks of work preparing the filly to resume would be in vain.
All Pink had four jumpouts to prepare her for her racetrack return but the two-year-old still had a trick in the bag for race day.
'Mick and I thought she was $1.01 to be scratched because she got her leg up in the gates and was in there for a long time,' Kent Jr said.
'They took about two minutes to unload her but miraculously they got her back in.
'Thank God they did because she rode a hot speed and won by 4.75 lengths.
'To have that go wrong, ride a hot speed and win by 4.75 lengths, it was a good effort.'
Kent Jr said the stable was delighted with All Pink's progress since her Terang run.
'We couldn't be happier with our girl and I thought she was really tough on debut,' Kent Jr said.
'It looks a nice opportunity for her but they don't give away two-year-old races in town.
However, Kent noted All Pink faced a tricky assignment in the Evergreen Turf Handicap (1000m) at The Valley.
Scratchings have left a field of four to race for $150,000 in prizemoney but Kent Jr said each of All Pink's rivals presented a challenge for his charge.
'I think Saluted is very smart. I've seen her trial a number of times at Cranbourne and she's very sharp,' Kent Jr said.
'She will be suited coming back to 1000m and I know they do fancy Ciaron's debutant Tetsu Belle.
'She'll be the one sitting off and chiming in late and Alzaro has trialled well.'
All Pink is the $2.40 favourite in the revamped market on the race following the scratchings.
Saluted is at $2.80 ahead of the Maher-trained pair Tetsu Belle and Alzaro at $3.80 and $8.50 respectively.

Esha easily won her maiden on debut in South Australia in March but had little trouble bringing that form to Melbourne Saturday grade in the 3YO Handicap (1000m). 'I suppose when Bacash was niggling up outside her just to stay in touch early, I thought we were in a pretty good position,' Nichols said. 'She quickened up like we saw in her trials and we saw in Adelaide. 'When they're short, you like them to do what they're supposed to and she did what she's supposed to do. Nichols said he would consider a trip to Sydney for a Group 2 race for Esha's next start but he also wanted to test the daughter of his former stable star I Am A Star on other circuits. 'Potentially, she could go to the Silver Shadow in Sydney in two weeks at 1200(m),' Nichols said. 'But her (welfare comes) first, there's a long spring ahead. 'There's a lot of opportunities for a three-year-old filly so I'm mindful of the fact that if we do win a fillies stakes race, we get penalties against the boys. 'I would like to let her have a look at the straight. 'There's a whole lot of things I'd like to cram into a period so getting it right is the tricky bit.' Hayes brothers aim to challenge Ciaron Maher for metro title after winning Victorian premiership
Lindsay Park has sights on challenging Ciaron Maher in the Melbourne training premiership. Brothers Ben, JD and Will Hayes claimed the state title last season, with 240 Victorian winners. Lindsay Park saddled 253½ winners Australia-wide – up from 199 the previous season. SUBSCRIBE NOW! 'Since being in partnership – JD and I, and then Will, JD and I – every year we have had really nice improvement and last year, we were very annoyed we didn't get 200,' Hayes said. 'It's a great effort by the whole team behind us, who are working really hard. 'We get really good support from our owners and we've got a great team (horses) behind us now.' Evaporate and Shining Smile produced five wins apiece for Lindsay Park last season, while five other horses including Dublin Journal, Marble Arch, Rise At Dawn saluted on four occasions. 'It's definitely been our best year to date … to be leading Victorian trainer for all wins is a good effort, hopefully, we'll be a little bit more competitive next year with metro, that's our aim.'
