Anthony Chiang: During Udonis Haslem's appearance on NBA Today this afternoon, he didn't want to comment on the Jimmy Butler situation. But Haslem did say this: "I will say this, guys, there's one thing that we do say. You're either in or you're out and there's no in between. That's what I'm going to say and I'm going to leave it at that." -via Twitter @Anthony_Chiang / January 15, 2025
Adebayo became a full-time starter during the 2019-20 season. Since then, Miami has two NBA Finals appearances and sports the NBA's seventh-best win percentage in that time (.581). The 27-year-old Adebayo, who was drafted 13th in 2017, is the only player in the NBA to finish top five in Defensive Player of the Year voting in each of the last five seasons. 'He's much different,' Spoelstra said about Adebayo's comfort as a team leader. 'He's gotten more comfortable. And he's accepted the responsibilities that are given as a leader … as any face of the franchise, as the captain. And he knows he can't do it just by his actions. He also has to used his voice more. And that'll continue to get better. You have to do things within your personality. He's not going to lead in the same way as U.D. [Udonis Haslem], and that's totally fine. Everybody in the locker room respects him and responds to him. I love seeing the growth that he's made. He's in probably, what, his eighth season already? It's going by so fast. Each year, he develops more, and he makes more of an impact.' -via New York Times / November 5, 2024

Shaq reveals the truth about long-standing NBA relationships rumor

Shaquille O'Neal pulled back the curtain on NBA players in relationships and explained what it's really like as a star player traveling from city to city. During a recent installment of the NBA legend's 'The Big Podcast,' co-host Adam Lefkoe mentioned 'every city you go to [as an NBA player], the women are looking for you.' However, O'Neal said that 'never happened' when he was in the league. Advertisement 'That's a myth,' the 53-year-old O'Neal said, 'I've been in a lot of lobbies — I didn't see anybody. So I remember I was coming in; they did this 'Esquire' article about how the girls would be waiting out. So, I was looking for that. Never happened. Never happened. Trust me, I was the baddest on the road. It never happened. You go and you see people.' Former NBA guard Brandon Jennings, who was a guest on the show, agreed with O'Neal. Advertisement The Basketball Hall of Famer explained it was difficult to make relationships work while living 'a tiger lifestyle' in the NBA. 'The problem with us is when you live a certain lifestyle, and then it all shuts down, you only know what you know,' O'Neal said. 'So, if you don't know the rules of commitment, it'll never work. And then, you know, us being not committed, everything is an excuse. Because once you say to somebody, 'I'm going to commit,' you've got to do your f–king job as a man. Right?' 4 Shaquille O'Neal pulled back the curtain on NBA players in relationships and explained what it's really like dating as a star player. Dan Orlovsky and ESPN in agreement on a new deal: Sources

Dan Orlovsky, who hinted he may not return to ESPN, is expected to re-sign with the network and continue as a prominent football analyst, sources briefed on the contract talks said Tuesday. Orlovsky's new deal is not signed yet, but it has been agreed upon. He will continue to appear on 'NFL Live,' the second team on 'Monday Night Football' and all of his other daily talk show appearances, where he analyzes the NFL and college. Advertisement Orlovsky had talks to be on CBS' Big Ten broadcasts in place of the retiring Gary Danielson, but Orlovsky wanted to hear what ESPN would offer, making the timing not right for a decision. CBS ended up moving Charles Davis from the NFL to college after Danielson's final year in the booth. J.J. Watt is replacing Davis on CBS' No. 2 NFL broadcast team with Ian Eagle. After the Super Bowl in February, Orlovsky said on ESPN that 'you never know what the future holds,' as he gave thanks and mentioned he would not be on the network for a while. However, Orlovsky has since appeared on ESPN. ESPN declined to comment on Orlovsky's expected re-signing. Orlovsky, 41, joined ESPN in 2018 after a 12-year NFL career, where he served mostly as a backup. He rose through the ranks quickly and became part of ESPN's daily 'NFL Live' ensemble that also features Laura Rutledge, Marcus Spears and Mina Kimes. Additionally, Orlovsky pairs with Chris Fowler and Louis Riddick Jr. on ESPN's extra NFL games that its top team of Joe Buck and Troy Aikman don't broadcast.
