Bihar MP Pappu Yadav: ‘Mahagathbandhan could win on Rahul's vision, those keen to be CM must understand it'
As a worker who takes our leader Rahul Gandhi's vision to the people… Bihar is in a very bad condition. Three crore people have migrated. And there has been no capital investment in the state in the last 30-40 years. Not a single factory has been set up. Our state has the highest potential for food processing, but no one talks about it.
All the leaders. No one has the will-power. They just want to stay in power. As a man, Nitish ji is a good person; he is honest. But everyone around Nitish ji is dishonest. An 'Inspector Raj' was in effect. The officers (bureaucrats) ran Nitish ji's government. Everyone looted.
The BJP never wanted Nitish ji (as CM). Nitish ji still has a secular image today. But the way things are, Muslims feel that Chandrababu Naidu (TDP) and Nitish Kumar have stabbed in the back by supporting the NDA government on the amended Waqf law. This has caused them the most pain. When our leader (Rahul Gandhi) demands 65% reservation and caste census, Nitish ji becomes silent.
Without Nitish ji, BJP has no value in Bihar and a BJP government cannot be formed. Now the EBC (Extremely Backward Classes) have understood that the BJP has finished their leader (Nitish). So, the EBC, ST, SC, OBC votes are shifting towards the Congress.
We have to take the alliance along. Without the perspective of the Congress, you cannot do anything. People in Bihar are moving towards the Congress.
I do not know anything about this. I am nowhere. Only our leader will tell. Who is there to ask Pappu Yadav? I am just an ordinary worker.
I am not entitled to speak on that. We will fight and win the election on our leader (Rahul Gandhi)'s vision and make the INDIA bloc win.
If you eliminate the votes of STs, SCs, and EBCs in this manner, there will be a very bad impact on elections. There is no question of political loss. The question is of rights being snatched. We will not allow it to be erased.
JMM should definitely be included…(On AIMIM) tell me one thing… We speak against the RSS, and there is another ideology that only talks about its own. They (AIMIM) is only concerned about their quam (community). You should talk about the Constitution.
What impact did he have? The first time he came, he went to work in Amethi. He then went with Modi ji. He then went to Nitish ji, Mamata, came to Congress… He got a vanity van… sleeps in AC and says, 'I am touring' and that he will become the chief minister.
The EBCs, STs, SCs, OBCs and minorities in Bihar have developed a hunger for politics. In Bihar, only an EBC, ST, or SC will be the Chief Minister. No one else can be.
It would not happen for the next 50 years at least. The political hunger has awakened in the country. 90% of the people are from these suppressed communities, so why should the other 10% always rule?
If we move together on Rahul Gandhi ji's vision, bring Hemant ji (Soren), and strengthen the alliance even more, don't let anyone leave, and avoid ego clashes – those who are keen to become Chief Minister they must understand such things… that if we follow Rahul Gandhi's vision, everyone will support us and the Mahagathbandhan will win… then no one can stop the INDIA alliance.
The BJP is the biggest threat itself. BJP survives only because of Nitish Kumar. The prevailing situation is not good. We want Nitish ji to stay strong but BJP does not want him to.
Yes, he should come to the alliance. Because the BJP will stab him in the back. Personally, I respect Nitish ji. It is not just me. Our leaders respect him too.

OPS keeps options open for alliance, asks followers to expose BJP, DMK
CHENNAI: Keeping his options open for alliance for facing 2026 election, former chief minister O Panneerselvam on Sunday directed his followers not to speculate about alliance. However, OPS asked his followers to expose the 'anti-Tamil Nadu activities of the central government' as well as the problems faced by the people from the DMK government. This statement of Panneerselvam indicates that he is weighing his options for the poll alliance. A few days ago, after holding discussions with Chief Minister M K Stalin for about 30 minutes, he triggered speculations about aligning with the DMK with his remarks: 'There are no permanent foes or friends in politics. That has been the history. When the elections approach, anything can happen.' In a statement, Panneerselvam said after the demise of former CM J Jayalalithaa, the AIADMK has been losing its credibility among the people, facing recurring defeats at the hustings. 'We have been struggling to retrieve the AIADMK from a 'group of betrayers' by establishing the AIADMK Cadres' Rights Retrieval Committee with the hope to win the cases pending before the courts,' he added. Panneerselvam directed his supporters to organise public meetings to expose the 'anti-Tamil Nadu activities of the centre' and the problems faced by the people from the current regime in the state, besides how the AIADMK is being led on a destructive path. However, he did not name Edappadi K Palaniswami. Meanwhile, AMMK general secretary T T V Dhinakaran on Sunday told the media that the national leaders of the BJP in New Delhi should make efforts to bring Panneerselvam back into the NDA-fold. Dhinakaran also said Panneerselvam should withdraw his decision to leave the NDA. Talking to reporters in Chennai and Madurai, Panneerselvam showed the messages he sent to BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran about his wish to meet PM Narendra Modi, who visited Tamil Nadu recently. Already, Nagenthran had said that he indeed approached Panneerselvam a day ahead of the PM's visit to TN, but the latter could not be reached. TTV bats for OPS AMMK general secretary TTV Dhinakaran said BJP's national leaders in Delhi should make efforts to bring Panneerselvam back into the NDA. Dhinakaran also said Panneerselvam should withdraw his decision to leave the alliance

‘A For Akhilesh, D For Dimple': SP Leader Booked For Teaching ‘Politicised Alphabet' To Students
Last Updated: According to a complaint, an SP leader was teaching children "A for Akhilesh", "D for Dimple" at a "PDA Pathshala", the video of which surfaced on social media. A local Samajwadi Party leader was booked in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur for allegedly teaching children 'politicised alphabet" in a 'PDA Pathshala", officials said. According to SP City Vyom Bindal, a complaint was filed by a resident of the Kallarpur Gurjar village – Main Singh – who alleged that SP leader Farhad Alam Gada taught children 'A for Akhilesh", 'B for Babasaheb", 'D for Dimple", and 'M for Mulayam Singh Yadav". The complainant described the lessons as 'politicised alphabets" at a 'PDA Pathshala". The incident came to the fore after a purported video of the class, which was recorded at Gada's home in Ramnagar, was posted on social media and went viral. The children appearing in the video were from a private school and were seen in their uniforms. — Akhilesh Yadav (@yadavakhilesh) August 3, 2025 Reacting to the development, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav posted on X, 'Even the British did not file an FIR for studying. The anti-education face of the BJP has now been exposed to the public. Now the BJP will be gone forever. Condemnable." In his defence, Farhad Gada had earlier said that the 'PDA Pathshala" was not just for teaching the basics like the ABCs but also to educate children about the 'great figures of Samajwadi ideology." He had also mentioned plans to open similar schools throughout the district. (With PTI inputs) view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Surjewala hits out at Haryana govt over ‘steep hike' in collector rates
The Congress general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala on Sunday hit out at the chief minister Nayab Singh Saini-led government in Haryana over a 'steep hike' in collector rates for property registration, saying that this move will be a blow to the common man's dream of owning a house. Congress general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala. (File) The state government has already dismissed as 'unfounded and misleading', the claims of a section of the Opposition leaders that the collector rates have been hiked by more than 130%. 'The arbitrary increase in collector rates twice in just eight months and without public consultation, logical reasoning, or defined parameters is a proof of the government's economic mismanagement and incompetence,' Surjewala said addressing a news conference here. 'In 2022, the BJP had promised 'a permanent home for all.' But today, even building a house with hard-earned money has become impossible. Now, by hiking collector rates further their dreams are being crushed.' The senior Congress leader alleged that there is a nexus between the government and the builders behind the sudden increase in the collector rate. He said that the state government had in this year's budget set a target of earning ₹16,555 crore from 'stamp duty and registration fees' as against ₹14,000 crore in the year 2024-25, adding it was now eyeing to earn a substantial amount from the hiked collector rates. He said the hiked collector rates will effectively increase stamp duties on registering sale deeds of immovable properties. 'An analysis of the last five years reveals that the government has increased collector rates by 50% to 250% for plots, houses, flats, commercial properties, shops, and agricultural land,' Surjewala claimed. He said that the burden on common people by hiking collector rates comes at a time when the prices of sand, gravel, bricks, cement, steel and other construction materials have already increased manifold in the last five years. 'Isn't this hike just a scheme to help BJP-affiliated soon as rates increase, builders jack up prices for ongoing projects. Who pockets the profits? What is the logic, criteria, or basis for these hikes?' he asked. Accusing the government of turning Haryana's cities into 'garbage dumps' with stray cattle, potholed roads, stinking waste piles, and overflowing drains, he asked: 'Why hike in collector rates when basic amenities are missing?'
