MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man pulled a gun on a customer during a fight Sunday night at J. Alexander's restaurant in the Wolfchase area, according to Memphis Police.
The MPD is searching for two suspects accused of threatening and assaulting customers on Mother's Day at the restaurant on North Germantown Parkway.
Police say the altercation broke out around 6:30 p.m. when the ex-boyfriend of a victim's daughter approached her at the restaurant, holding a gun to his side where everyone could see it. He allegedly told the woman to 'get back,' and a fight began.
Two men hospitalized after Mother's Day shootings
A woman who attempted to break up the fight was punched in the face by a female suspect, and a man who also tried to intervene told police the male suspect pointed the gun at his stomach.
Reports say the two suspects then left the restaurant in a purple Lexus SUV with Tennessee temporary tags.
A man who said he was a witness went on Facebook Live describing what he saw, saying two women began fighting at the table next to his, and then a group of people jumped over the patio wall and began attacking a woman who was eating.
He said he only saw a fist fight but, 'At some point, somebody said 'Gun.'' A restaurant employee then ran through the restaurant and told everyone to get under their tables and take cover.
He said his group decided to stay at the restaurant after the action, and had an 'amazing' evening.
No one was injured during the altercation. WREG is reaching out to the restaurant today.

NYPD searches Bronx River for missing 2-year-old boy

HUNTS POINT, The Bronx (PIX11) — The 20-year-old father of a missing 2-year-old Bronx boy is being held at Rikers Island after allegedly telling the child's mother he threw him in the Bronx River, according to law enforcement sources. NYPD dive teams searched for the boy in the river near the Bruckner Expressway Monday night and for most of the day on Tuesday, but didn't find him. More Local News Police said the boy was last seen by his mother at 827 Hunts Point Avenue in the Bronx at around 10 p.m. on May 10. He was wearing a white shirt and a diaper. The dad took the child, Montrell Williams, to see his paternal grandmother for Mother's Day in Hunts Point. The father then stormed out of the home with Montrell following an argument, according to his grandmother. She spoke with PIX11 News by phone on Tuesday. She said that on May 11, the day after her son had exited her home with her grandson, she went to the local NYPD precinct, and spoke with an officer. 'I said, 'My son kidnapped my grandchild out of my house,'' she told PIX11 News. After making the report, she said in her Tuesday interview, officers told her that because the toddler's father took him, it's not necessarily a criminal act. Her son never returned the boy to the toddler's 17-year-old mother. They share custody of the child. The grandmother, who wished to remain anonymous, said that she'd reached the boy's father, her son, by phone, days after the toddler had gone missing. 'At first, he didn't say nothing,' the grandmother recounted. She continued, though, that the toddler's father tried to reassure her. 'He was like, 'Oh, he's good, he's good. Don't worry about it. He's all right.'' He didn't provide believable proof to support that assessment, the grandmother said. Later, the teen mom told police that she gave Montrell to his dad on May 10, but she has not seen the boy since, sources said. The father was supposed to bring the boy back to his mother on May 30. When she saw him without the boy, the dad allegedly told her he'd thrown him in the river, sources said. The father did not tell police that. Police searched the river based on what the mom had told them. After refusing to speak with detectives, the father was taken to family court Monday in the Bronx on charges of custodial interference. A judge remanded him to Rikers Island. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

Dad of missing toddler jailed after telling mom he threw son into Bronx River

The father of a 2-year-old Bronx boy missing for a month has been thrown in jail after telling the toddler's mom he threw their son in the Bronx River, police sources said Tuesday. A Family Court judge found the 20-year-old dad in contempt of court and ordered him held on Rikers Island without bail on Monday for refusing to say where his son Montrell Williams could be found, officials said. A day earlier, he threatened the boy's mom with a knife when she demanded answers and told her he had tossed the boy into the river, a police source said. The dad was seen throwing a bag into the river near Bronx River Ave. and Bruckner Blvd. on May 10 — the same day Montrell came to spend time with him, a police source said. The father and the boy's 17-year-old mom have joint custody. On Tuesday, NYPD divers were searching for the missing boy in the Bronx River in the Soundview section of the Bronx, about a 15 minute walk from the dad's home on Hunts Point Ave. near Lafayette Ave where the boy was last seen. 'We're not leaving any stone unturned,' Mayor Adams said Tuesday. 'We're going to do a thorough investigation to determine where the child is.' 'This was a troubling series of events, based on the actions of the dad in handling the child,' the mayor added. 'We need to find out exactly what happened … Right now, our goal is to try to find the child … We are still praying that the child is alright.' The toddler's mother left Montrell with his father about 10 p.m. on May 10 so they could attend a Mother's Day celebration with the dad's family, a police source said. But a short time later, the father got in an argument with someone at the party and stormed off with the child. He never returned Montrell to his mother. Police later learned that the father was seen at a cousin's house in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx about 12:30 a.m. without the child — just two and a half hours after the mother left Montrell with him, the source said. On May 30, the mother and Montrell's grandmother went to Family Court to report the father had not returned the boy to her South Bronx home. A warrant was issued for the dad's arrest. Cops were investigating her claims when on Sunday the mother confronted the father, demanding her son back. During the frightening exchange, the father threatened the mom with a knife and told her he had thrown the child into the river, the police source said. 'She asked where their son was and he made concerning statements,' a second police source said. The mother again called police, who took the father into custody for questioning early Monday. He was hauled into Family Court and then sent to Rikers Island when he wouldn't divulge the location of his son. The search of the Bronx River began Monday and ended around 9:30 p.m. NYPD divers dove back into the rain swept waters Tuesday. As cops quizzed the dad Monday, they released a photo of Montrell and asked the public's help in finding the boy. Neighbors at the Bronx apartment building where Montrell lived with his mother were left stunned at the news of the boy's disappearance. One neighbor recognized the photo of the young boy, who she described as 'friendly'. 'I seen the little boy. I always seen the mom,' the neighbor, who didn't want to be named. said. 'The mom takes the baby to daycare every day.' Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential. With Josephine Stratman
