Chris Martin Publicly Supported Dakota Johnson After Reports That They've Split, And People Don't Know What To Think

In case you missed it, it was reported last week that Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson have ended their relationship after nearly eight years of on-and-off dating.

If that sounds familiar, that's probably because this isn't the first time we've had split reports about this notoriously private couple. However, a source alleged to People on June 4 that this separation 'feels final.'

As it stands, neither Chris nor Dakota has confirmed or commented directly on the breakup reports. But, whether they're together or not, Chris is still going out of his way to support her.
Fan footage from the Coldplay show in Las Vegas on Friday, June 6 — two days after the breakup reports surfaced — shows Chris wishing the crowd goodnight as he exits the stage. 'Thank you, everybody! Be kind to each other!' he says into the microphone before adding: 'Don't forget to go see Materialists!'

If you're in need of some context, Materialists is the new and highly anticipated Celine Song movie starring Dakota alongside Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal, which is due to hit theaters on June 13.
It's not entirely clear whether Chris's mention of the new movie is a means of quashing the breakup reports or if he's merely being a supportive ex. And in the comments section of the TikTok video, fans have expressed their confusion.
'If they really were broken up would he go out of his way to mention materialists?' questioned one user, followed by someone else who speculated that it might have been his way of 'saying 'we're still together.''
'Maybe he just really likes Pedro Pascal like the rest of us,' another user joked, while someone else pointed out that 'you can love and support someone and not be with them.'
Whatever's going on, it seems like these two are probably on good terms. And if there's one thing about Chris, he certainly knows how to maintain a good relationship with an ex — need I mention Gwyneth Paltrow and the conscious uncoupling?
We've reached out to their representatives for comment, but I'd love to hear your take on this whole thing.

Dakota Johnson Shocks 'Today' Show by Dropping Curse Word to Reveal Dating 'Non-Negotiable' After Chris Martin Split

After her split from Chris Martin, Dakota Johnson opened up about her "non-negotiable" when it comes to dating Multiple sources confirmed earlier this month that Johnson and Martin ended their engagement and their eight-year relationship Johnson plays a matchmaker in her new romance film, Materialists, out June 13Dakota Johnson knows what she's looking for in a romantic partner. The 35-year-old actress, who recently split from fiancé Chris Martin, is starring in the new romance Materialists alongside Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal. In the film, she plays a matchmaker, who gets caught in her own love triangle. On Monday, June 9, Johnson and Evans appeared on the Today show where co-anchor Craig Melvin asked them, 'If either of you were to engage with a real-life matchmaker, what would be the one non-negotiable for you?' While Evans, who is married to wife Alba Baptista, replied, 'Must love dogs. Gotta love dogs. If you're not a dog person, what are we doing?' Johnson had an arguably more blunt response. 'Like, not an a--h---?' she said as Melvin gasped slightly. 'That's concise,' Evans teased his costar. 'There it is. Nail on the head.' Melvin joked that NBC would have to 'clean that up for the West Code feed,' as Savannah Guthrie later noted it was proof the show didn't have a seven-second delay. Johnson laughed off the moment, not commenting on it further. Her candid thoughts come days after multiple sources confirmed to PEOPLE that Johnson and Martin had ended their eight-year relationship. "It feels final this time," a source said of the split. The couple were first romantically linked in 2017, and in 2024 an insider told PEOPLE that Johnson and Martin had actually been engaged for 'years.' While the pair have split, things between the two seem to be cordial. The Coldplay singer promoted Johnson's new film during his June 6 concert in Las Vegas. 'Thank you, everybody! Be kind to each other!' Martin said into the mic, before adding, 'Don't forget to go see Materialists!' Additionally, Martin's ex Gwyneth Paltrow intends to keep up her 'close friendship' with Johnson. The Goop founder 'fully intends on maintaining that bond,' despite Johnson's split from the Coldplay singer, a source tells PEOPLE. Read the original article on People

Dakota Johnson Frosts Her Ferragamo LBD With Diamonds Galore

On May 28, Hailey Bieber celebrated Rhode Skin's billion-dollar deal in a strapless mini custom-made by Saint Laurent. Just 24 hours later, Taylor Swift made her grand return to New York City in an on-brand Dôen dress—her favorite label for enviable evenings out. And now, Dakota Johnson is following their lead. Marking her first A-list affair since the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, the Materialists actor jumped on the LBD bandwagon in New York City. To celebrate her new global brand ambassadorship at Roberto Coin, the Italian jeweler hosted an invite-only soirée in her honor. While en route to Manhattan's Cipriani 25 Broadway, Johnson was all smiles in her latest LBD, courtesy of Ferragamo. With help from her longtime stylist, Kate Young, the fashion muse got her hands on the Italian label's floor-length noir number. If you look closely enough, you'll see the stretched viscose is draped delicately at the bust. This subtle gathering added some variation to the otherwise sleek, column silhouette. View Deal For her footwear, Johnson sourced Ferragamo once more. She chose the eccentric Eva Pump, beloved by Jennifer Lawrence, Zoë Saldana, Hailey Bieber, Keke Palmer, and Tracee Ellis Ross. While it's available in red, green, pale pink, ivory, and burgundy (to name a few color-ways), the Fifty Shades of Grey actor went with the classic black pair. View Deal Thanks to her new partnership with Roberto Coin, Johnson frosted herself in diamonds galore, most notably an intricate choker necklace. All eyes went to the brilliant-cut diamonds, which were accented by striking pear-shaped sapphires toward the chain. But wait—the sparkles didn't stop there. An oversized cocktail ring, also from Roberto Coin, complemented her necklace. Available for $25,500, it featured a timeless combination of blue sapphire, iolite, and diamonds. The statement piece has made its rounds among the Hollywood set. Leslie Mann wore the same ring at the 2018 Academy Awards alongside a red ballgown from Zac Posen. Just a few hours after Johnson was spotted in NYC, her first campaign for Roberto Coin, captured by Craig McDean, dropped online. In it, the actor frolicks around Venice in the LBD's whimsical younger sister: a flowy, little white dress. She showcased the jeweler's Venetian Princess - Pirouette collection, most notably an 18k gold, mother-of-pearl flower necklace, which rings in at $20,600. Now that Johnson's ambassadorship with Roberto Coin is public knowledge, it's only a matter of time before she sports the brand again. The release date of her upcoming romantic drama, Materialists is coming up on June 13. Keep an eye out for Roberto Coin's glittering offerings alongside her next promo 'fits.

Dakota Johnson looked like the ultimate rom-com heroine at the New York premiere of Materialists on June 7. In a floor-length, asymmetrical, backless satin gown and strappy sandals, Johnson joined actor Chris Evans and director Celine Song on the red carpet. With some seriously loud luxury, rich-girl accessories, the Fifty Shades of Grey star proved she's ready for romance. The actress—who is styled by Kate Young—recently frosted her Ferragamo little black dress with a $25,500 Roberto Coin ring. For the premiere of her new romantic comedy Materialists, Johnson accessorized her Gucci gown with Messika jewelry, Oliver Peoples x Khaite sunglasses, and a celeb-beloved Gucci Horsebit 1955 bag. Johnson's floor-length, asymmetrical Gucci black satin dress hails from the fashion house's Cruise 2026 collection. The stunning gown features an asymmetrical, halter neckline with an open back and a scarf detail, which cascades into a long, thin train. Leaving her hotel ahead of the premiere, Johnson was seen carrying a Gucci Mini Horsebit 1955 Asymmetric Shoulder Bag, and wearing a pair of Oliver Peoples x Khaite 1951C Sunglasses, which retail for $590. Johnson's asymmetrical Gucci Horsebit bag—which is among the best Gucci bags to invest in—was a perfect fit for her outfit, which she completed with a pair of strappy black sandals. View Deal When she isn't working, Johnson can often be found wearing sneakers, and clearly has an extensive collection of enviable footwear. From chunky Nike V2Ks to cow-print Adidas Taekwondo sneakers, Johnson is a regular source of shoe inspiration. Johnson co-stars with actors Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal in Materialists. The actress plays a matchmaker who finds herself stuck between two romantic prospects—a wealthy bachelor who is her "perfect match" on paper, and her flawed ex-boyfriend.
