Former Cardinals Desmond Ridder, Jesse Luketa get opportunities with Cardinals opponents

USA Today21-07-2025
Desmond Ridder signed with the Bengals and Jesse Luketa had a tryout with the Cowboys.
A pair of former Arizona Cardinals players either have or could have a new team as NFL training camps begin.
On Sunday, quarterback Desmond Ridder, whom the Cardinals acquired via trade in the 2024 offseason, signed with the Cincinnati Bengals. He replaces Logan Woodside, who was released.
Ridder spent the 2024 offseason and preseason with the Cardinals, but Clayton Tune beat him out for the backup quarterback job. Ridder began the season on the practice squad but was later signed by the Las Vegas Raiders and appeared in six games, starting once.
For Ridder, it is a return to a city he knows well, as he played collegiately for the University of Cincinnati.
Another former Cardinals, linebacker Jesse Luketa, who spent three years with the Cardinals and was drafted by them in the seventh round in 2022 out of Penn State, had a tryout with the Dallas Cowboys, according to Cards Wire's Howard Balzer.
In 10 games last season, he had a career-high three sacks but his season ended with a thigh injury.
If Luketa signs, the Cardinals potentially could play against both him and Ridder. The Cardinals face the Cowboys on the road in Week 9 and the Bengals in Week 17 on the road.

Details on how much time Landon Dickerson will miss after having a minor meniscus surgery

Eagles Pro-Bowl guard Landon Dickerson will undergo 'a minor procedure' on his right meniscus and will be listed as week-to-week ahead of the matchup vs. the Cowboys It's not a sure thing that Landon Dickerson will be ready for Week 1 vs the #Cowboys, but that's the his history of multiple knee procedures, the #Eagles won't rush to get him back on the field. They'll play this smart. The Eagles received some good news Monday afternoon, as Pro Bowl left guard Landon Dickerson will be listed as week to week. Dickerson will have a minor procedure on his injured right meniscus. Still, could be back in time for the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys at Lincoln Financial Field on September 4. The former second-round pick exited the Eagles' open stadium practice with a left knee injury that required a Monday MRI. A meniscus tear can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months to heal, depending on the severity of the tear and the treatment approach. With Dickerson listed as week-to-week, he'll have a meniscectomy, or a small trim of the injury. Menisectomy (trim) means +/-6 weeksMeniscus repair means 4-6 months(that was #JJMcCarthy last season)Treatment depends of the type of tear Dickerson is one of five guards who have made the Pro Bowl every year since 2022, along with the Browns' Joel Bitonio, the Falcons' Chris Lindstrom, the Colts' Quenton Nelson, and the Bears' Joe Thuney. Philadelphia could deploy Brett Toth or Trevor Keegan in that spot, or rotate Tyler Steen to left guard to reach the NFC Championship game, allowing Matt Pryor to play right guard until Dickerson is ready.

Ja'Marr Chase fantasy football preview 2025: Stats, season outlook, predictions

Rotoworld Staff, Ja'Marr Chase 2025 Fantasy Football Snapshot Chase led NFL in every major receiving category in 2024. Bengals locked him up long-term while also keeping Tee Higgins. The likely No. 1 overall pick in most leagues, Chase remains favorite for WR1 overall finish even with some possible TD regression. Get personalized fantasy football insights based on your league settings with FantasyLife+. Your league is unique, your advice should be too. Head to and use code ROTO20 for 20% off. 2024: Chase last season led the NFL in targets, receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns in 2024, piecing together the most complete season of his NFL career and showing he can dominate at every level of the field. His downright absurd 63 percent receiving success rate also led the league and was by far a career-high mark. Chase's production increased when Tee Higgins missed time with various injuries. What's changed: The Bengals signed Chase to a four-year extension, while also re-signing Higgins and TE Mike Gesicki. 2025 Outlook: Chase will be the first player off the draft board in most leagues, especially in PPR formats. Dominant after the catch, Chase will continue to benefit from a hugely pass-heavy Bengals offense that last year was well over its expected pass rate and should be again in 2025. Chase, who was targeted on 25 percent of his pass routes last season, could see some TD regression and still finish as fantasy football's top-scoring wideout. **Projections from Spotlight Sports Group Go to: All players | QBs | RBs | WRs | TEs

Is Jerry Jones the biggest problem for the Cowboys?

Yahoo Sports' Jason Fitz and Caroline Fenton discuss how the Dallas team owner continues to favor making headlines over winning on the field. View more Video Transcript But to your point about the Cowboys, I think to me it is abundantly clear, and I believe if my pulse on the Cowboys fan base is correct, I believe it is now becoming more and more clear to Dallas Cowboys fans. That as long as Jerry Jones is running this franchise and doing the drafting and making free agency decisions, this team will not win a Super Bowl, because Jerry Jones cares way too much about being in the headlines, about being the number one story than he does about actually winning. Because if Jerry Jones actually cared about winning, I don't believe Brian Schottenheimer would be the head coach of this organization. I believe Brian Schottenheimer is the head coach of this organization because Jerry Jones can't handle anybody else getting more publicity and more love and more credit for the Cowboys than he is. What do you do when you realize the owner of your favorite team just isn't a very good owner, you know, and there's nothing you can do. We could talk all day long about Jayden Daniels and what it meant for the resurgence of the Washington Commanders, but you have to acknowledge that that became a heck of a lot easier to accomplish when they cleaned house of everybody in the building. And simply being bad at your job isn't a reason that you're going to be. Forced to sell a team. So if you're a Panthers fan, guess what? You're gonna have Tepper forever until, you know, he decides he wants to go off and mess something else up. If you're a Cowboys fan, you're, you're sort of stuck with whatever this version of Jerry Jones is. I'm a, I'm a diehard Raiders fan. Everybody knows that. I'm stuck with whatever Mark Davis decides year in and year out. Like there is really nothing you can do. For all of the conversation about drafting and quarterbacks and GMs and head coaches, at the end of the day, culture is created from the top down. If the person that leads your Organization is just not good at identifying talent all the way down and then not good at staying out of the way, you suddenly end up being a fan of a team that stinks every single year. Jerry Jones at one point was incredible at his job and I'm not sure that there's been anybody more important to the modern NFL when it comes to modernization and branding. But if you want that, That's great, but if you want Jerry Jones right now to run your favorite football team, I think you're just looking at an abject disaster year in and year out. Close
