Summary
BMW Motorradhas pulled the covers off its boldest superbike vision yet at the 2025Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este: theBMWMotorrad Concept RR. Inspired by the championship-winning M 1000 RR piloted by Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, the Concept RR offers over 230 hp from a water-cooled inline four-cylinder engine and transfers BMW's World Superbike (WSBK) racing dominance directly to the street.
Built with cutting-edge carbon and aluminum components, the bike is designed for maximum lightweight performance and aerodynamic precision. From the compact ventilated fairing to the sculpted tail section with a glowing RR emblem, every detail screams speed. Integrated winglets, advanced traction control and engine braking systems borrowed from the M 1000 RR complete the package.
BMW also debuted the Concept RR LTD jacket alongside the bike, a limited-edition collaboration with MEINDL crafted from fine calf Nappa leather. Only 50 will be made.
Markus Flasch, Head of BMW Motorrad, called it a 'true masterpiece' and the clearest expression yet of the brand's commitment to pushing the boundaries of performance, design and technology. The Concept RR marks a new chapter for the next generation of BMW superbikes — track-ready but built for the road.

BMW Drops Sweet 2025 M3 Lease Offer for August

Few badges carry as much weight among enthusiasts as the BMW M3. For nearly four decades, the sports sedan has set the standard for blending everyday practicality with track-ready performance. From the boxy E30 of the late '80s to today's turbocharged powerhouse, the M3 has stayed true to its formula: sharp handling, a balanced chassis, and enough comfort to handle daily driving. The 2025 model keeps that tradition alive, refining what was already one of the best all-around performance cars on the market. Rivals like the Mercedes-AMG C63 and Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio bring plenty of competition, but the M3's blend of precision and livability still stands out. And this August, BMW is making it easier to get behind the wheel with an aggressive lease offer. This month, shoppers can lease a 2025 BMW M3 Sedan for $1,119 per month for 36 months, with $6,559 due at signing. Taxes, title, and license fees are extra, but the deal waives the security deposit. While not cheap, the offer is competitive for a high-performance sedan in this class-especially considering the M3's performance pedigree and strong residual values, which help keep lease payments lower than outright financing might suggest. For 2025, the M3 gets subtle updates that keep it feeling fresh without losing its edge. Slightly revised LED headlights and new wheel designs add a sharper look to the exterior. Inside, the cabin features BMW's latest curved display, pairing a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster with a 14.9-inch central touchscreen running iDrive 8.5. The interface brings faster responses and improved menu layouts, while wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto remain standard. Sport seats with extra bolstering hold you in place during spirited drives but remain comfortable for longer trips, and high-quality materials throughout the cabin reinforce that this is a luxury car as much as it is a performance machine. Under the hood, the 2025 M3 keeps its twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, sending 473 horsepower to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. Opt for the Competition trim, and output climbs to 503 horsepower, paired with an eight-speed automatic and available all-wheel drive. Regardless of configuration, the M3 remains one of the sharpest-driving sedans money can buy. Practicality hasn't been forgotten, either. Four doors and a usable back seat mean it can pull double duty as a daily driver, while a wide dealer network and solid reliability record add peace of mind. The BMW M3 has always been about striking a balance-between speed and comfort, tradition and technology. The 2025 model continues that legacy, and with this month's lease offer, it's more accessible to enthusiasts who prefer leasing over buying outright. If you've been waiting for the right time to step into a new M3, August may be your chance. *Disclaimer: This article is provided for informational purposes only. Volkswagen Is Locking Horsepower Behind a Paywall

Automakers are embracing subscriptions whether customers like them or not, often pushing beyond what most of us find acceptable. BMW attempted to charge a monthly fee for heated seats, but users didn't bite . On the opposite end of the spectrum, Mercedes-Benz still offers Acceleration Increase for its EQ models, which initially cost $1,200 a year, and it's an idea that Volkswagen is borrowing for the electric ID.3 in the United Kingdom. Auto Express first reported that the automaker's consumer site in the UK market lists the ID.3 Pro and Pro S as only having 201 horsepower instead of the full 228-hp output. The fine print reads that owners can "activate the optional power upgrade for a fee." VW offers owners the option of a one-month free trial, a monthly or yearly subscription, or the ability to purchase it for the car's lifetime. Those costs are: £16.50 per month, £165 per year, or £649 outright, which is $22.36, $211.41, and $879,52, respectively, at today's exchange rate. It's an odd decision and one that doesn't make much financial sense for a buyer on a car that costs around $50,000 to start. The extra cost is small enough to be hidden in the MSRP, and something most people would likely be willing to pay upfront. But this paywall feels like an unnecessary hurdle designed to nickel-and-dime customers who might be leasing rather than buying. Automotive News Europe reported in late 2023 that more than 40 percent of new lease registrations in the UK were electric vehicles, so someone who only keeps the car for a few years might be able to save a few hundred dollars. Volkswagen ID.3 Interior It doesn't seem worth it, and thankfully VW isn't doing that in America, but it reveals where the industry stands and what it's thinking. Automakers are seeking new revenue streams during a complex and costly time in the industry, and a recurring income from thousands or millions of drivers is enticing. You'd think spending tens of thousands of dollars would guarantee you can purchase and fully own a complete vehicle, but that's no longer the case when software sits between the user and the actual hardware. Software licenses and end-user license agreements restrict ownership while the Digital Millennium Copyright Act dictates what a user can and cannot do with that license. In 2023, Mazda sent a cease-and-desist letter to a developer who had made integrations that connected Mazda vehicles to Home Assistant, an open-source home automation software. The automaker accused the developer of writing code that infringed on its 'copyright ownership,' which provided similar functionality to that offered by Mazda through its apps. While the DMCA allows owners to modify what they own, it's illegal to distribute the software or tools to do it, especially if it violates copyright, and today's cars are packed with copyrighted software. American automakers are already making the argument in court that customers don't fully own the vehicles they paid for, pointing to software and software licenses in their attempt to restrict right-to-repair laws. As automakers embed more software into cars, EVs or ICE, it will make paywalling horsepower, safety features, or access to other hardware features even easier because you can't own someone else's copyrighted code, and VW's UK experiment should be a red alert for car buyers everywhere.
