Petrobras Taps Fugro for Critical Subsea Inspection Contracts
The contracts will utilize four dedicated vessels — two operated by Fugro and two by its partners — equipped with state-of-the-art remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). This innovative technique will help shift personnel from offshore sites to office-based environments, improving efficiency and allowing real-time data analysis for quicker, more informed decision-making. This collaboration expands the use of Fugro's remote operations capabilities, including remote ROV piloting, which was successfully pioneered together by Petrobras and Fugro in 2023 from the Fugro Aquarius. This innovative approach not only boosts operational safety by reducing offshore personnel exposure but also supports faster, data-driven decision-making through real-time analytics.
Valued at approximately $340 million over four years, these contracts represent both continuity and evolution. Out of the four contracts, three will be renewals of the existing contracts that are set to expire later this year with improved terms, and one will be an entirely new engagement.
This significant milestone reinforces Fugro's long-standing partnership with Petrobras, built on a shared history of leveraging advanced survey technologies and underwater robotics to drive responsible energy development in the region. It also aligns with Fugro's strategy of pursuing recurring revenues as a key driver of long-term, sustainable value.
Petrobras' selection of Fugro reaffirms confidence in its ability to deliver critical services reliably and safely. This project, which was included in Fugro's 12-month backlog (as of March 2025), further strengthens its strategic agenda to foster innovation, ensure asset integrity and reinforce leadership in Brazil's offshore development.

2 growth stocks backed by this British fund that's soared 77.8% in just 3 years!
It's probably fair to say that VT Holland Advisors Equity Fund isn't immediately familiar to a lot of British investors. Given that the fund is very much on the small side (only £39.3m), perhaps that's unsurprising. But VT Holland Advisors holds a handful of exciting growth stocks, and has delivered excellent outperformance. Run by Andrew Hollingworth, it has returned 77.8% for the three-year period to 30 June. That destroys its Investment Association Global Sector benchmark (25.7%), and also beats both the FTSE 100 and S&P 500. Helping drive some of the recent portfolio outperformance has been a pair of top growth stocks (which I also own). Let's take a closer look at them. A snowball at the top of a hill The first stock is Nu Holdings (NYSE:NU), which is the firm behind Brazilian digital lender Nubank. It's up 35% year to date. Nubank was built from the ground up as a digital-only bank, with no physical branches. It offers customers far superior and cheaper services than the legacy banks across Latin America. Our enthusiasm for Nubank is that we can see a potential revolution in its customer offering vs sleepy, fat banking incumbents. In Q1, Nu grew its customer base to an incredible 118.6m, adding over 4m in the quarter. Yet it only operates in three countries (Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia). And while around 60% of adults in Brazil are customers, the other two nations offer significant growth potential (never mind elsewhere). That said, the lender could come unstuck as its credit portfolio grows. If the loss ratio worsens, that could quickly eat into margins and dent investors' confidence. Nevertheless, the firm's fundamentals are impressive. Average monthly revenue per customer has increased from $7 in 2022 to $11.20 in Q1 2025. But among longer-term customers who use more of services, that figure jumps to nearly $26. This is why Hollingworth has described the company as 'a snowball at the top of a hill'. I agree, making this share worth considering for the long term, in my opinion. Classic disruptor The second stock I want to highlight from VT Holland Advisors' portfolio is one I finally bought earlier this month: Wise (LSE: WISE). This fintech stock is up around 31% over the past year. Wise helps people and businesses send money across borders quickly, cheaply, and transparently. Around two-thirds of the company's new customers come by word of mouth. The firm takes a cut of the transfers, but what Hollingworth likes is how Wise keeps lowering fees as it scales (similar to Nubank). Wise's cross-border take rate in Q1 was 0.52% globally, down from 0.58% the year before. The fund manager says this is 'classic disruptor behaviour', with the firm 'building a powerful…[and] hard-to-copy scalable network'. Looking ahead, Wise could face rising competition, with rivals all looking to take share in the massive £32trn cross-border money market. A global economic downturn would also likely slow payment volumes. Yet, I think Wise is still worth considering right now, along with VT Holland Advisors Fund. The latter's portfolio of just 30 stocks does present some concentration risk, but I reckon the manager's strategy to 'find great companies run by great managers available at great prices' will continue to bear fruit. Barcelona reached out to intermediaries to explore move for Real Madrid superstar
According to a report from UOL Esporte (h/t SPORT), Barcelona contacted intermediaries to express their interest in Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes, even though they have already finalised a deal for Marcus Rashford. It is no secret that the news from Brazil has come as a surprise. On Saturday, the South American publication reported that Barcelona are also keeping a close eye on Rodrygo's situation at Real Madrid. The club has made an initial approach through intermediaries, letting them know they would be open to starting negotiations if Rodrygo ever decides to leave the Bernabeu. Real Madrid future uncertain At the moment, Rodrygo has not shown any intention to leave Real Madrid. Both the player and his team have publicly stated they prefer for him to stay and fight for his place next season. However, with the competition for attacking spots increasing at Real Madrid, his role in the squad could be reduced under Xabi Alonso. Barcelona expressed interest in signing Rodrygo. (Photo by Florencia) As such, several Premier League clubs are already monitoring the situation, and Barcelona appeared to have entered the race. For now, Real Madrid are not completely against selling Rodrygo, but they expect a significant transfer fee. The club values the Brazilian winger at €100 million, although they might consider lowering the price depending on how the market develops this summer. Barcelona transfer impossible Despite the interest, a move to Barcelona seems highly unlikely. The Catalan club has already closed the deal for Marcus Rashford, who will join on a loan with an option to buy for €35 million. Given their current financial limits, it is almost impossible for Barça to make a serious move for Rodrygo this summer. The situation is just an approach without any formal negotiations. Rashford is the player Barcelona have chosen to lead their new attacking project under Hansi Flick, and unless something dramatic happens, that decision will not change.

Brewing trouble: America's coffee addiction meets Trump's trade tariffs
America's love for coffee has made the dark brewed beverage the most popular drink in the country. US adults drink 516 million cups of coffee every day, even though coffee prices have almost doubled in the past five years. The United States is the largest importer of coffee in the world, and its biggest supplier is Brazil. Earlier this month, US President Donald Trump threatened to impose 50% tariffs on Brazilian goods if President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva continued a legal inquiry on former Brazilian leader Jair Bolsonaro. Here's a look at the value of the coffee trade, US coffee-drinking habits and why your cup of coffee could be more expensive very soon, if Trump goes ahead with his latest tariff plan.
