British number two Emma Raducanu has spoken candidly about the distress she experienced due to a stalker incident at the Dubai Championships, which left her in tears behind the umpire's chair during her match against Karolina Muchova.
The 22 year old described how the unwanted attention from a "fixated" man both before and during her second-round match in February led to her struggling on court, saying at the time that she "couldn't see the ball through tears" and could "barely breathe".

Raducanu also shared that the lack of a full-time coach at the time added to her unease, contributing to an overall feeling of anxiety.

Now, with a more stable support system including coaches Mark Petchey and Nick Cavaday, the 2021 US Open champion is focusing on the upcoming grass-court season while remaining cautious in public spaces.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Raducanu admitted: "It was difficult," and explained how her unsettled team dynamics heightened her anxiousness.
"I'm obviously wary when I go out.

"I try not to be careless about it because you only realise how much of a problem it is when you're in that situation and I don't necessarily want to be in that situation again."
Raducanu expressed a sense of security off the court, stating: "Off the court right now, I feel good, I feel pretty settled. I feel like I have good people around me and anything that was negative, I kind of brush it off as much as I can."
Raducanu, who was knocked out in the second round by Iga Swiatek at the French Open, is grappling with a back issue ahead of Wimbledon, having been plagued by persistent spasm issues for much of 2025.

She is set to compete in the inaugural women's Queen's Club Championships this week, where she will face Spanish qualifier Cristina Bucsa in the opening round.
With coaches Petchey and Cavaday back in her camp she feels happier than at any point in recent years.
"[In] the last couple months I found some better form but I've also learnt about myself that I can't necessarily do it with people that I don't trust, or I don't necessarily like so, truthfully, for me that's what's improved as well in the last couple months," she said.

"I have a pretty good gut feeling and intuition about people who I get on with, and who I trust.
"And I think sometimes I try and reason with myself because logically I'm like, 'OK, well, maybe this person can bring me this and I need it', and I try and force myself through it, but I've just realised, it doesn't work.
"And when there's a bad energy or bad environment, it just lingers."

Nick Kyrgios ‘axed from BBC's Wimbledon coverage' after appointment of tennis bad boy caused uproar

And according to The Telegraph, the outspoken star will not be part of the BBC's coverage of the Grand Slam tournament this year. The 30-year-old had been hoping to play in the tournament for the first time since losing the 2022 final to Novak Djokovic. However, the tennis bad boy confirmed he would not be appearing because of a recurring injury. Taking to Instagram, he said: "Just wanted to give everyone a quick update – l've hit a small setback in my recovery and unfortunately won't make it back for grass season this year. "I know how much you've all been looking forward to seeing me out there, and I'm genuinely sorry to disappoint. "This is just a bump in the road though, and I'm already working hard to get back stronger than ever. 'Thank you for all your continued support – it means everything to me. See you soon!" In fact, he will also not fulfil a punditry role on American broadcaster ESPN. Kyrgios has worked with ESPN for the last two years during the first slam of the year, the Australian Open. His hiring by the BBC last year was met with criticism by senior MPs and women's campaigners. Caroline Nokes, the women and equalities committee chair, blasted that the broadcaster should "hang its head in shame" for the decision. A BBC statement at the time said: "We are in no way condoning his cited previous actions or behaviours, on and off the court, and he is employed to share his views on tennis only. "He has provided similar services to other major sports broadcasters in recent months. "The legal process he was involved in has concluded, is well documented, and he has spoken about it publicly." Kyrgios admitted to assaulting an ex-girlfriend in February 2023. However, a magistrate in Canberra, Australia, said the incident was 'a single act of stupidity or frustration,' and spared him from getting a criminal record. THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY.. Anthony Joshua called out for rematch by first fighter to KO Brit

Joshua - who has not fought since losing to Daniel Dubois last September - is hoping to return to the ring later this year following successful elbow surgery Mihai Nistor - who famously became the first fighter to knock out Anthony Joshua - has called for a rematch with the Brit. The 34-year-old Romanian - who fought 64 times in major amateur bouts - went head-to-head with Joshua in the quarter-finals of the European Championships in Turkey back in 2011. Nistor amassed quite an impressive record as an amateur before turning professional back in 2019. ‌ Since then, the heavyweight star has won all eight of his professional bouts, winning all by knockout. However, it has been over a year since he was last seen in the ring. Despite the inactivity, Nistor believes he is not far off of top world level and is prepared to sign a deal to face Joshua if boxing promoter Eddie Hearn sends an offer his way. ‌ In an interview with World Boxing News, he said: 'I'd love to box again with my former rivals. If I could box against Joshua and Usyk again, that would be my goal. But right now, I'm not just with them. I have been continuing to win fights. I'm a bit disappointed with my career. "I was held back for about two years because of the pandemic. I am confident and convinced that I will make it to the level of Joshua and Usyk.' Joshua has not fought since suffering a brutal knockout defeat to British rival Daniel Dubois last September. The loss put an end to Joshua's recent good run of form in the ring after losing back-to-back fights to Oleksandr Usyk. On Joshua's defeats to Usyk, Nistor added, 'I believe Usyk defeated Joshua through superior technique and tactics. He wanted the victories more. I think Joshua's behaviour can be explained by the fact that losing for the second time made the defeat even more painful. I believe that after the defeats to Usyk, Joshua didn't recover mentally enough. I think that led to the loss against Dubois. He wasn't focused.' Regarding his own future, Nistor concluded: "I expect to get back in the ring soon. In June or July, I'll be back and ready for anyone.' Joshua is aiming to return to competitive boxing before the end of the year, following elbow surgery. On the topic of a return to the ring, 'AJ' said last month: "When do you want me back, people? I'm trying to get my body right. I have got to actually have a little surgery on my elbow. A small surgery sometime in May. I'm finalising the details... that will see me out of the gym for maybe six to eight weeks, and then when I'm healed, I will be back." Joshua has not given up hope of finally realising a bout with Fury. The Brit is not convinced that his rival's retirement is final and appears confident that a fight could still materialise. In a recent post uploaded to Snapchat, Joshua shared an image of himself watching Fury fight, saying: "One of these days I'll be standing in the opposite corner. Ready and fully charged spiritually."

A Scotland star has been dealt a major blow after a calf injury ruled him out of the British and Irish Lions tour to Australia. Glasgow Warriors star Zander Fagerson has been out of action since April but was hoping to make a full recovery in time to board the plane that will travel down under for a three-test series later this month. However, the writing appeared to be on the wall when Fagerson was absent from the Warriors' United Rugby Championship play-off semi-final defeat against Leinster at the weekend. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Monday brought confirmation Fagerson had withdrawn from the squad as Andy Farrell and his players head to Portugal for a pre-tour training camp before facing Argentina in Dublin in their first warmup game on Friday week. Head coach Farrell described the news as 'part and parcel of the game' - but conceded it was difficult to lose Fagerson so close to the tour getting underway. He told The British and Irish Lions website said: 'It's tough on Zander to miss out so close to the Tour, but now Finlay gets an opportunity to come in and add to the group. This is unfortunately part and parcel of the game, so we always have to be prepared for that. But it's great to finally be at the stage where we can get onto the training ground and get to work with these players. Portugal will be really important for us as we look to get our house in order with only a few training sessions before we take on Argentina in the 1888 Cup in Dublin.'
