MENASHA, Wis. (WFRV) – A 23-year-old student teacher in the Menasha Joint School District was taken into custody following allegations of inappropriate conduct involving a student.
According to the Menasha Police Department, investigators received information indicating there had been alleged sexual misconduct between the male student teacher and a student. Police are recommending a charge of sexual misconduct by a school staff person or volunteer.

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – A second illegal immigrant found in Fond du Lac County has been convicted of human trafficking sexual assault involving his co-defendant's daughter. Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney announced that Juan Carlos Rocha-Mejia was convicted of first-degree sexual assault of a child after pleading no contest. 42-year-old Wisconsin man arrested for 4th OWI after swerving in between multiple lanes Co-defendant Elia Antonio, the mother of the victim, was previously convicted of human trafficking of a child, failure to protect a child, and two counts of misdemeanor bail jumping. Bond was revoked for Rocha-Mejia, and the judge ordered a pre-sentence investigation. 'Today is another step towards justice for the survivor, with the second defendant being convicted for a disgusting attack on a child,' said Toney. 'We look forward to the upcoming sentencing hearings to hold both defendants accountable and help the survivor move past the court process. I am grateful for the excellent investigative efforts by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office and ADA Menzl.' The investigation revealed that Rocha-Mejia and Antonio are illegally in the United States. The convictions stem from a sexual assault of Elia Antonio's daughter on March 18, 2024. Antonio gave her daughter to Rocha-Mejia to be sexually assaulted for approximately $250. Rocha-Mejia held the child in a van and attempted to duct-tape her as he began to sexually assault her. The defendant's DNA and the survivor's DNA were found on duct tape located in the van. Rocha-Mejia faces up to 40 years of initial confinement. MINERAL POINT, Wis. (WFRV) – A 42-year-old man was taken into custody Sunday afternoon following a series of threatening and disorderly actions that led to a brief foot chase and his arrest in a public restroom. According to the Iowa County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded around 4:10 p.m. to a report of a disturbance on Clowney Street in Mineral Point involving Matthew Rohowetz. Two suspects sentenced for their roles in 2023 North Fond du Lac shooting Authorities say Rohowetz had sent threatening and profane messages, including one stating an intent to 'murder' a member of the sheriff's office. When officers located Rohowetz, he initially refused to cooperate and fled on foot after they explained the legal consequences of violating bond conditions. A Taser was deployed but was ineffective. Rohowetz was later found hiding in the women's restroom of a High Street establishment, where he initially refused to exit but ultimately surrendered at around 4:53 p.m. Rohowetz was booked into the Iowa County Jail and is facing the following charges: Disorderly conduct (misdemeanor) Resisting an officer (misdemeanor) Battery or threat to a law enforcement officer (felony) Five counts of felony bail jumping Green Bay house fire causes $50,000 in damages, displaces one child and one adult He remains in custody awaiting a bond hearing in Iowa County Circuit Court.
