TYRONE'S POWER (8) finished an honourable third in his first trial to Chicama and Beadman then won his next one 18-days later, easily handling The Little Master. Point being, there are some pretty strong Heats and it is clear from what he has done that he is ready for his debut. Great draw (2). The issue/negative is that there are some 2YOs here with very, very good form/race experience. Take BESKAR (1), for example – he walked in on debut then was a half-length third to North England and King of Pop in the Kindergarten.
BET: TYRONE'S POWER (8) each-way.

PHOTOGRAPHICS (3) has a tidy set of numbers; not least that two of her three career wins have been here at home, both with Molly Bourke in the saddle for her boss, Sarge. The daughter of Per Incanto has had a month between runs but kept ticking over (like a Rolex I might add) winning a 1050m trial here on April 14.
BET: PHOTOGRAPHICS (3) to win.

ZAMPANO (11) won the prestigious Romantic Dream at home at Tamworth on debut then went to Gunnedah and won again a month later. Spelled, failed first-up and was spelled, but resumed this time (on March 28) with a massive 'from the back' third. Now there's another dimension to the horse. SPEEDY HENRY (15) is unbeaten in two starts; not sure about the opposition but he's running time and is from a noted 'Highway stable'. MASSIRA (1) has bankable Highway form.
BET: ZAMPANO (11) to won, exacta 11 to beat 15.
â– â– â– â– â–
ZEALOUSLY (1) went from Maiden winning to Benchmark 72 winner in three starts in the summer of 2024 which led him to the Sunshine Coast on Jan 4, 2025, for the $3 million Sunlight when and where he clocked in an admirable fourth to Private Harry no less. His 'best' is better than the rest's 'bests' IMHO. JW Kelly owned and bred EXTRAVAGENT LAD (3) has won six times with 11 placings in 25 starts. If you think that's impressive, he has posted four wins and five placings from 11 runs over the 1000m. IRON HAT (9) is pitched in here!
BET: ZEALOUSLY (1) to win.
â– â– â– â– â–
STATE OF AMERICA (4) has finished with a medal 18 times in 33 starts; with seven wins. That's pretty impressive stuff. So too is the fact that he has a 50 per cent strike-rate at the track and trip. To cap it all off, he is a last start winner who has a proven ability to hold his form. Lightly-raced French Group horse, SAGANTI (3), has presumed natural improvement in store off that very narrow loss to State Of America when he made his Down Under debut over 1600m. This trip is better again for him.
BET: STATE OF AMERICA (4) to win, quinella 3,4.
â– â– â– â– â–
STEP ASIDE (6) 's first-up record is two wins and a second from five fresh runs. Of course we have to scrub one of those given he lost the rider (Tommy Berry) first-up last preparation. He hasn't been away from racing for all that long so one trial probably suffices … well, if Waller thinks so, then so do I. Stablemate INVADER ZIM (10) is good here at Randwick and good early in his preparations too. The bottom line with both of them is what price they are about 10 minutes before they jump.
BET: STEP ASIDE (6) to win (best bet).
â– â– â– â– â–
TRAFALGAR SQUARE (13) has only managed one win in 15 starts but she has contested a Golden Gift, Kindergarten Stakes, Clarendon Stakes, Silver Shadow and Furious Stakes – and has run rather well in some of them. There was so much to like about her first-up run behind Candlewick in that WF 1200m on April 16. Reckon she is the 'weight horse' of the day with 52kgs. MARTINI MUMMA (9) is first-up out of the Kosciuszko. She was fourth in the Denise's Joy around this time last year. PAJANTI (7) could be in for a really good prep.
BET: TRAFALGAR SQUARE (13) each-way, PAJANTI (7) to place.
â– â– â– â– â–
PUNCH LANE (4) won the Glasshouse in 2024 and was runner-up in the Shannon Stakes that same spring. He was solid, at least, in the Star Kingdom first-up. He was the run of the race, IMHO, in that Benchmark 100 last Saturday at HQ. Regarding the seven day back-up, he raced eight-days prior to winning the Glasshouse. GREBENI (5) was rather unlucky behind LAVISH EMPIRE (17) (runs here too) in the Muswellbrook. Both are major players as is Ducasse. Big, big watch on WOOTTON VERNI (10)!
BET: PUNCH LANE (4) to win, box trifecta 3,4,5,10, DD 1st Leg 4, 2nd Leg 12.
â– â– â– â– â–
AUTOMNE TREE (19) is one of those Waller horses that will/might head to Queensland this winter. I think he could win a good race or two at anything from a mile up to the Derby. He's bred to stay being by The Autumn Sun and from the same family as Gold Trip. Going to need luck to make the cut, that's all. LINKS (11) has accepted for Kensington today. Runs well wherever she goes. LADY BOSS (12) has a wide draw but is talented and consistent. Ditto for DUVANA (14).
BET: AUTOMNE TREE (19) to win (best each-way).
â– â– â– â– â–
James McDonald's last three rides on the card tomorrow have drawn barriers 12, 17 and 19 (minus scratchings, etc). Now even though 19 is the biggest number, it probably matters least on the day given this is the Doncaster start. Long story short, he'll be on KIND WORDS (12) in the last for Kris Lees. She was a handy 3YO (she ran 4th in the Queensland Oaks) and has been very good in her two starts back over 1400m, including a three-lengths 6th of 15 in the Provincial Championship Final. Peaks now. POPPIN' CHAMPAGNE (9) was good enough to place fourth in Lekvarte's G2 ATC Angst at her only run at the t/d.

Comeback mare The Map launches spring campaign in Leon Macdonald Stakes
Don't miss out on the headlines from Horse Racing. Followed categories will be added to My News. Murray Bridge trainers Dan Clarken and Oopy MacGillivray are plotting a return to Melbourne's spring carnival with staying mare The Map, who launches a comeback in Saturday's Listed Leon Macdonald Stakes at Morphettville. The Map, South Australia's recent Melbourne Cup representative, finished 21st in the famous race last year, before two unplaced runs in February saw the Group 3 winner retired, aborting a planned Adelaide Cup run the following month. • PUNT LIKE A PRO: Become a Racenet iQ member and get expert tips – with fully transparent return on investment statistics – from Racenet's team of professional punters at our Pro Tips section. SUBSCRIBE NOW! Clarken and MacGillivray concluded that the breeding barn beckoned for The Map, but she was passed in at the Inglis Chairman's Sale in May, missing a reserve of $200,000. The pair used it as an opportunity to reset, and reassess their plans with the nine-time race winner. 'If someone had really wanted to take her on as a broodmare, it was the time to sell her, but having crossed that bridge … I suppose it was just a reset moment,' MacGillivray said. 'We always had a reserve on her of $200,000 and said 'if she doesn't make that, she comes home and we reassess'. 'She had a good three months off, she's worked back up, had plenty of leg work, a bit of green grass and a change in the drought conditions have made her and us feel a little bit better about everything – she's just terrific.' The daughter of Alpine Eagle, now a seven-year-old, has had a Murray Bridge trial and jumpout in the lead-up to Saturday's 1400m assignment. 'She was very bright and bubbly, she's doing everything we'd expect her to do, we just gave her the extra jumpout (Monday), occasionally she just jumps a bit slow, especially if she's a bit fresh. She's right where we need her,' she said. 'We've got our own sand track up a hill out the back of our place, she's been enjoying using that, she seems in a good space – I suppose we are about to find out. 'If she jumps well, puts herself there and finishes off, I'd like to see her finish in the first half. That really lets us think positively about where we are heading to next, as long as she comes through it well, and every indication is that she will.' • Campton retires stable star as 'incredible' mare nears return The Map is a $41 chance with Sportsbet, and will be ridden by Emily Finnegan. The comeback mare will likely head to Victoria as she steps out in trip. Clarken and MacGillivray have the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes and Melbourne Cup qualifier, Group 3 The Bart Cummings, earmarked as possible target races. '(Makybe Diva) is obviously going to be pretty hot company, there's also a 1700m handicap at Flemington that day (September 13), that's probably the next step in her campaign to see where she's at,' MacGillivray said. 'We'll definitely still nominate for the (Melbourne) Cup, it's not off the radar, but in the back of our minds we might be heading into a Bart Cummings or something like that, we'll keep her at Flemington where she's happy and see what comes up.' The Map came out of retirement after she was passed in at the Inglis Chairman's Sale in May. Picture: Makoto Kaneko • New home for 2026 Cox Plate confirmed While a stable stalwart returns, Group 3-winning juvenile, Steel Trap, has left the Clarken and MacGillivray yard, the King's Legacy filly was sold privately to Yulong earlier this month. 'She's a terrific filly … we had high hopes, a Thousand Guineas (run) in the not too distant future, but we are also realists,' she said. 'We love where we live, but Adelaide is not the place to have progressive young horses at the moment, you've got to be realistic, how easy is it to get her back and forth across the border to do what she needed to do? 'We don't look back, no regrets, I'll be proud and excited to see her perform on the big stage and I hope she goes well for the connections.' Talented gelding, A Samurai Mind, has also moved on, transferring to the care of Cranbourne trainer Grahamme Begg. 'We just felt it was very hard to get any consistency in his racing here. He was at a rating level where you were trying to run him with three to five weeks between runs all the time, which doesn't make it very easy to train them when you've got them fit and ready to race,' she said. 'In conjunction with James Jordan (owner-breeder), we just felt it was in his best interests to go to Victoria where he can be placed accordingly and get the runs where he needs the runs.' The Map's full sister, On The Map, will also make her debut for the stable in a Maiden Plate (1250m) at Morphettville on Saturday. SUBSCRIBE NOW! ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ BEST BET KIRA (Race 5 No.4): Broke through for a deserved win on the Hillside track third-up and will be fitter again. Should be even harder to hold out this time. NEXT BEST MISS TRUSTFUL (Race 2 No.8): The Benalla-trained galloper chased honestly when second on this track second-up. Blinkers go on for this and should again have his chance in the straight. SUN SETTING (Race 7 No.14): Had no luck when badly held up at Caulfield last time. She's hard fit for this and should go close with more like this time. VALUE BET LEGATUS (Race 3 No.2): Well ridden to salute over this course last time and will be fitter again for four runs this time in. Expecting him to go well again. LAY OF THE DAY PRINCESS QUE (Race 7 No.13): There were a couple of unlucky runners behind Princess Que in her first-up win on this track. There will be more pressure this time, which could leave her vulnerable late. THE JOCKEY LUKE CARTWRIGHT Jockey Luke Cartwright heads to Sandown Lakeside for seven rides on Wednesday. BUTTERNUT PRINCESS (Race 2 No.7 – $6, ANTHURIUM (Race 3 No.8 – $21), WHISTLE DOWN (Race 4 No.6 – $3), FRIDAY AT FIVE (Race 5 No.6 – $3), HERE THE CROWD (Race 6 No.4 – $11), HONOR GALORE (Race 7 No.7 – $1.80). Hard to do again straight away up in grade but strong potential. ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ NEXT BEST Race 1 No.2 IL CUBO: Won nicely first-up at Ballarat and then found the step up to midweek metro company too steep. Back to Ballarat last start and finished second, not beaten far. Strong chance again. Race 3 No.10 QUEEN OF LIGHT: Could patience be rewarded? The four-year-old first starter has trialled up nicely ahead of debut on the home deck. Solid in early markets. ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ VALUE BET Race 7 No.4 SHOCKSTAR: Suited out in trip. Drawn wide but jockey Jamie Mott has ridden Shockstar three times for two wins. Definite each-way claims in open race. ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ LAY OF THE DAY Race 1 No.1 LAA DE SHA: Too short on recent form, albeit primarily in stronger and metropolitan company. Under the pump a long way from home last start at Echuca on rain-affected ground.
