
Gardaí arrest man, 50s, on suspicion of human trafficking offences
Gardaí have arrested a man in his 50s on suspicion of human trafficking offences.
Officers attached to the Human Trafficking Investigation and Co-Ordination Unit (HTICU) at the Garda National Protective Services Bureau (GNPSB) made the arrest on Monday in Monaghan as part of an ongoing investigation into human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation and forced criminality.
The man, aged in his 50s, was arrested on suspicion of human trafficking offences. He is currently detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda Station in the north eastern region.
Gardaí are now appealing for anyone who may be the victim of human trafficking for sexual exploitation to come forward.
A Garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: 'An Garda Síochána appeal to anyone who may be the victim of human trafficking for sexual exploitation to come forward and speak with them at any Garda Station in person or by phone, or by calling the freephone Garda Confidential Line: 1800 666 111.
'Anyone that has information related to human trafficking for sexual or labour exploitation is encouraged to contact Gardaí.'
