Rita Saffioti: Exciting movement with electric buses rolling out in WA
2. There's huge excitement building for AC Milan's second visit to WA, and we're gearing up for an extravaganza with an Italian village to be set up at HBF Park with Italian food vendors, music and a spritz bar all available ahead of the match on July 31.
3. Great to have the Matildas in town. It was an exciting match against Panama on Tuesday night with many fans braving the cold to watch Charlie Grant score the match winner. The Tillies have two more international windows before they're back in Perth for the Asian Cup on March 1.
4. How good were the West Coast Fever this week, creating Super Netball history with a 11th straight win, beating the Giants to secure the minor premiership for 2025.
5. Speaking of legends, thank you to Fremantle great, Michael Walters, who's retired from the AFL after a stellar career that featured 365 goals. He's inspired a generation, not just as a footy player, but as an incredible community leader.
6. We announced Seymour Whyte, Civmec and Aurecon as the preferred alliance team to develop and design the new multi-purpose Perth Entertainment and Sporting Precinct. Key members of the alliance delivered the new locally made Boorloo Bridge, and this precinct will no doubt become another incredible piece of public infrastructure.
7. We're delivering more social and affordable homes for West Australians with the latest round of the Housing Australia Future Fund boosting supply with another 515 homes to be built across the State. Since 2021, we have added more than 3300 social homes, bolstered by a strong relationship with the Federal Government.
8. Kids and teachers are having a well deserved break with school holidays underway. With many people travelling around the State, I'd urge everyone to take extra caution when you're behind the wheel and to stay safe on our roads.
9. Woke up on Wednesday to find I was on the front page of the paper — well it was me photoshopped as Kath from Kath and Kim. As a strange coincidence, I actually dressed up as Kath for a fancy dress event recently, and my friends dressed as Kim and Sharon. Sharon was so convincing, she won best dressed for the night!
10. Yesterday's front page did highlight an important point. As politicians, we are elected to represent all West Australians, and Government is about listening to everyone, not just those that have a platform.

Magnificent Marc Marquez makes it five GP wins in a row
Marc Marquez has become the first Ducati rider to win five main races in a row with victory at the Czech Grand Prix, widening his championship lead over younger brother Alex Marquez, who crashed out during the second lap after contact with Honda's Joan Mir. Aprilia's Marco Bezzecchi, of Italy, was second with Spain's Pedro Acosta third on the Red Bull KTM. Australia's Jack Miller benefited from a three-place penalty handed to rookie Fermin Aldeguer to move up from 11th to a top-10 finish on his Prama Yamaha. The race came five years after the elder Marquez crashed and broke his arm in Jerez, which led to three injury-hit years, and he spoke afterwards of the long road back. "Last year was a crucial year as the team gave me the opportunity to come back and I was riding in a good way and got more confidence in myself. "During this five years maybe in my professional life I lose the chance to fight for championships as I was injured but I grow in my personal life. "Never is it good to have tough moments but sometimes it helps a person to see things and change your character." Two-time champion Francesco Bagnaia could not capitalise on his first pole position of the season, losing the lead to Bezzecchi after a slip towards the end of the first lap, before settling for fourth in the 12th round of the season. Bagnaia's teammate Marc, who also won his fifth successive sprint on Saturday, took the lead from Bezzecchi during lap eight, and left the Italian 1.753 seconds behind to register a statement eighth race win in the campaign. Reigning champion Jorge Martin, who has missed 10 rounds due to injury setbacks, marked his comeback by completing his first race of the year, finishing seventh.

Super Netball 2025: Perth turns green as West Coast Fever thrash NSW Swifts in major semifinal
Perth turned green as fans flocked in droves to witness Super Netball history as West Coast Fever booked their place in the 2025 grand final. And the home side gave the 11,838 supporters that packed RAC Arena a show, thrashing the NSW Swifts by 32 goals in the major semifinal to extend their winning streak to a remarkable 13 games. And it was a party inside the venue as the 'Green Army' watched the record-breaking afternoon unfold in front of their eyes. Among the VIP invitees was Olympic polevault gold medallist Nina Kennedy, while Perth Lynx stars Steph Gorman, Alex Ciabattoni and Kiara White also turned out courtside. Liberal leader and former Perth Mayor Basil Zempilas also turned out to be part of the Green Army as he continues his rising political career. Education Minister Sabine Winton — who played netball at the Wanneroo Districts Netball Association — was also courtside, as was Netball Australia chief executive Stacey West who watched the heavyweight clash. Fever coach Dan Ryan praised the immense support they had all season which had helped drive them to a premiership. 'I always have a moment just before the first centre pass where everyone has got their mobile phones out and I make sure I do a 360 and take in the experience because it's so easy to take this for granted,' he said. 'It's the best netball arena in the world; it's in front of the most passionate fans in terms of numbers and merchandise in this competition. It's something to be very connected to because it's not normal, it's elite. We really try to embrace that. 'You do take it in because they're very much a part of the journey and you've got to make sure that you embrace that. What we get to do here is something pretty special.'

Fever destroy Swifts to secure netball grand final spot
West Coast Fever have secured a grand final berth and destroyed the confidence of the NSW Swifts in the process after posting a dominant 77-45 win in the major semi-final at RAC Arena. In a performance for the ages, West Coast led 46-20 at half-time and 60-28 late in the third quarter as the Swifts imploded in front of a bustling Green Army crowd of 11,838 in Perth. Sunday's result means the second-placed Swifts will now need to dust themselves off for next week's home preliminary final against the Melbourne Vixens, who defeated two-time defending champions Adelaide 58-56 in the minor semi-final earlier in the day. The ladder-leading Fever will enjoy a week off before featuring in the August 2 grand final at Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena. Star Fever goal shooter Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard finished with 65 goals from 66 attempts to go with one Super Shot, while goalkeeper Sunday Aryang was huge with seven gains and two intercepts. Swifts goal shooter Grace Nweke endured a shocker, hitting just 23 goals from 28 attempts while committing a whopping nine turnovers. The Fever's rise to the grand final is remarkable given they were 0-2 and bottom of the ladder before Fowler-Nembhard's return sparked a run of 13 straight wins - a Super Netball record. "I'm just really proud of the team," Fever coach Dan Ryan told Fox Sports. "Their performance across the 60 minutes was amazing. "To play that quality of netball under the pressure of semi-finals is just amazing." NSW opened the season with a perfect 8-0 record but limped into the finals with four losses from their last six games. With no Paige Hadley (foot) or Teigan O'Shannassy (back), the Swifts were simply no match for the Fever. Fowler-Nembhard was a dominant force in the opening quarter, nailing 20 goals to give the Fever a 20-11 lead at the first break. At the other end, Nweke was struggling. The star NZ shooter committed a whopping five turnovers to go with three penalties in the opening term. In a further blow for the Swifts, centre Verity Simmons rolled her ankle late in the quarter and had to go off for treatment. Nweke's nightmare continued early in the second term when she missed two easy shots in the space of a few minutes. By the time Simmons was able to re-enter play with eight minutes remaining in the half, the Fever already led 31-17. Nweke was benched in favour of Sophie Fawns as the Swifts desperately searched for answers. West Coast scored the last 12 goals of the second quarter to enter the long break with a 26-goal lead, meaning the second half was effectively junk time. The final margin - 32 goals - was the largest in a Super Netball semi-final.
