Anthony Elanga labels Newcastle team-mate Alexander Isak as one of world's best
Liverpool were one of those said to be interested in securing the striker's services, but it is understood Newcastle value him at around £150million in a bid to fend off potential suitors.
Although Isak has been surrounded by intense speculation, newcomer Elanga has so far enjoyed working with his international colleague.
'A player of Alex's stature there's always going to be noise around him,' Elanga said.
'For me, he's one of the best players in the world, one of the best attackers in the world. I've played with him at international level so I can say so.
'There's always going to be noise, but at the end of the day he's a Newcastle player right now. I'm just trying to focus on what he's doing in training, showing his qualities and speaking to him every day.
'Whenever I speak to Alex it's always about good things – how my family is, how his family is and that's the first thing he asked me – how my family is – because he sees them all the time when he comes with the national team.
'I always try and focus on the present and the now. Alex being the player he is, one of the best attackers in the world, I think there's always going to be noise around him, but he's the type of player who is always staying focused.

'What he's shown in training is second to none. I'm looking forward to continuing training with him.
'Not just him, but Anthony Gordon who I'm also close with. He's helped me a lot settling in – he came from a different city as well. It's been amazing so far.'
Elanga arrives for a reported fee that could eventually amount to £55million and has been thrown straight into action, joining this week's training camp in Austria ahead of pre-season starting on Saturday with a clash against Celtic.
Newcastle are aiming to build on last year's stellar campaign which saw them secure their first major domestic silverware in 70 years by winning the Carabao Cup in March, as well as securing a Champions League spot.
Elanga is ready to make his impact, suggesting 'anything is possible' this season.
Asked how far Newcastle are from challenging for a Premier League title, he replied: 'We just take it game by game, focusing on each day that comes to you, wanting to improve, wanting to learn, wanting to take in information that the gaffer says. Anything is possible.
'The players we have, the coaching staff and adding Martin (Mark) from Midtjylland as set-piece coach. Those little one per cents are only going to make us improve even more.
'We're really on the right track. Having been involved in the sessions this week, I can really sense that feeling of we really want to grab something and win something this year.
'We take it game by game, focus on every session. Anything is possible really.'

Matheus Cunha makes debut as Man United and Leeds kick off pre-season with dull goalless draw
Ruben Amorim's Manchester United and promoted Leeds kicked off pre-season preparations with a goalless friendly draw in Stockholm. The Premier League sides played their first fixture ahead of the new campaign in front of a 45,345 crowd at the Strawberry Arena, where the Red Devils won the Europa League in 2017. Summer arrivals Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon made their first appearances for Amorim's men, who edged a forgetful first half in which Chido Obi struck wide when Cunha was well placed. Casemiro saw a cross deflected by Ethan Ampadu onto the crossbar in stoppage time, with both teams making sweeping changes at the break in Sweden. Leeds – cheered on by minority owner Will Ferrell – were more of a threat in the second period, when Tom Heaton denied Jayden Bogle and frustrated Man Utd academy graduate Largie Ramazani. Patrick Dorgu saw a snapshot saved by Illan Meslier, with Daniel Farke's side surviving a late melee as Kobbie Mainoo hit the crossbar before Ayden Heaven was stopped.

He made the shocking rant in a video which he posted on Instagram for his 6.1million followers. He said: "Women, you are failing. "You are eradicating masculinity by making society hypersensitive. "Embrace your feminine energy: nurturing, caring, receiving, multiplying, cleaning, maintaining the home, which is the most precious place for us men. "Do not be afraid to be women, to allow yourselves to be led by a man who only wants to see you happy, because we do not know heaven without you. "Holding yourselves responsible for your energy is also a way of loving you. "Men, we are failing in the lack of commitment, putting our partners last, not keeping our word, and not prioritising habits to become admirable. "I understand that we are afraid to speak and truly express what we feel because they are trying to eradicate masculinity, since in certain cases of the past, feminine energy was suppressed, but many of us are here wanting to love you, take care of you, respect you, and provide for you. 8 Javier Hernandez won two Premier League titles at Manchester United Credit: Getty 8 He also spent two seasons at West Ham United Credit: Reuters "But you women must learn to honour masculinity." Hernenadez enjoyed great success during his career as he became Mexico's top goalscorer with 52 goals in 109 appearances. The poacher also won two Premier League titles while with the Red Devils. However, since returning to Mexico, he has had his game time limited due to a series of injuries.
