Houthis Announce Drone Strike Targeting Israel

Yemen Online4 days ago
Sanaa — Yemen's Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for launching three armed drones toward Israeli territory, in what the group described as a 'retaliatory operation' in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.
According to a televised statement by Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree, the drones targeted strategic sites in southern Israel, including the port of Eilat, though Israeli defense officials have not confirmed any direct hits or casualties.
Israeli military reported intercepting at least one of the drones using its Iron Dome air defense system, while the status of the others remains under investigation.
This latest announcement follows a series of cross-border attacks between the Houthis and Israel, including missile launches and maritime strikes in the Red Sea.
Houthis have intensified their campaign since early July, citing what they call 'Israeli aggression' and pledging to continue operations until a ceasefire is reached in Gaza.
Israeli officials have condemned the attacks, accusing Iran of backing the Houthis and using them as a proxy to destabilize the region.

UN council authorizes continuing vigilance of attacks by Yemen's Houthi rebels on Red Sea shipping

The U.N. Security Council on Tuesday authorized continued reporting on attacks on ships in the Red Sea by Yemen's Houthi rebels, who have defied its previous demands to immediately halt all such attacks. The vote in the 15-member council was 12-0 with Russia, China and Algeria abstaining because of attacks against Yemen in violation of its sovereignty, a clear reference to U.S. airstrikes against the Houthis who control most of northern Yemen. The Trump administration has carried out the strikes because of the group's attacks on shipping in the Red Sea, a crucial global trade route, and on close ally Israel. The resolution, cosponsored by the United States and Greece, extends the requirement that U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres provide monthly reports to the Security Council about Houthi attacks in the Red Sea until Jan. 15, 2026. Acting U.S. Ambassador Dorothy Shea said the resolution recognizes the need for continued vigilance 'against the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist threat.' She cited the two latest attacks by Houthis against civilian cargo vessels, the MV Magic Seas and the MV Eternity C, which caused both vessels to sink and led to the loss of innocent seafarers and saw crew members taken hostage. 'The United States strongly condemns these unprovoked terrorist attacks, which demonstrate the threat that the Houthis pose to freedom of navigation and to regional economic and maritime security,' Shea said, reiterating the council's demand for an immediate halt to Houthi attacks and the release of all crew members kidnapped from the Eternity C.

"Democracy": War Criminal Netanyahu brags about using force to achieve his goals— blatant threat to regional nations

Gaza – Saba: The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) condemned, on Saturday, the arrogant and supremacist rhetoric of the head of the fascist Zionist entity's government, war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu—wanted by the International Criminal Court—as he reaffirmed that his colonialist government's goals would be achieved through force. In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), the DFLP described Netanyahu's language as a blatant threat to Arab nations and neighboring countries, exposing the true plans of the Zionist enemy state—backed by overt U.S. support—for the region's future and the nature of relations it seeks to impose on neighboring states. The Front pointed out that Netanyahu's rhetoric confirms his approach of relying on military force as the primary tool, under the doctrine of so-called "painful strikes," to subjugate the region and coerce it into surrendering to the Zionist project's goals in Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria. This poses a grave danger to the sovereignty, national interests, and security of neighboring countries, including Jordan and Egypt, which face the threat of being targeted for the forced displacement of millions of Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank. The DFLP stated: "The rising danger of the fascist role played by the Zionist enemy government is no longer confined to the Palestinian cause and our people's legitimate national rights. It has begun to reveal regional ambitions that will keep the Middle East in a state of turmoil and conflict." It added that Netanyahu's objectives include "redrawing international borders of some regional states, seizing territories under the false claim of being 'demilitarized,' and imposing restrictions on sovereign state presence near the borders of the Israeli entity—limiting their sovereignty and keeping them subjected to the doctrine of 'open-ended wars' and 'painful strikes,' which the criminal Netanyahu now openly promotes and actively implements." The DFLP called on Arab nations—all of which face the threat of the Israeli enemy—to act and uphold their responsibilities toward their people and future. It urged mobilizing Arab political, diplomatic, and economic strength to deter the Israeli entity and force it to comply with international legitimacy resolutions, as well as the principles of international and humanitarian law.
